The package had the support of Mitch McConnell. It is called The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or “CARE Act“. However, at the last minute House Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi, having returned from her House recess vacation sipping cocktails poolside, instructed Senate Minority Leader Chuck scumbag-Schumer to crush the senate effort. Power hungry liar-Pelosi sees an opportunity to use the looming economic crisis as leverage for selecting winners & losers amid the K-Street lobbying community. Donors for Democrats will be rewarded; supporters of Republicans, not-so-much. This is DC at it’s worst and liar-Pelosi isn’t going to lose another opportunity. It’s the same process she used in ’08/’09. Senator scumbag-Schumer did as he was instructed. The relief bill did not pass cloture (60 votes needed), and the three-day effort collapsed. But the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute for Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID), at Fort Detrick, Maryland, has been largely missing in action from the fight to contain the coronavirus. So far, more than 22,000 people in America have been diagnosed with the virus, and more than 280 have died from the respiratory disease associated with Covid-19. U.S. infection rates are likely to climb precipitously as more testing becomes available. At the White House briefing Wednesday on efforts to combat Covid-19, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said that he had just visited USAMRIID, known in military and research circles as RIID, and was briefed on its work on antiviral drugs and vaccines. But RIID scientists have privately complained about their lack of early serious involvement in the Covid-19 fight. And Wednesday marked the first time that an official at the daily briefings had specifically mentioned the lab that had helped suppress outbreaks of Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus in South Texas in 1971, Rift Valley Fever in Egypt in 1977, Hantavirus in the southwest in 1993, and Ebola in Reston, Virginia in 1990, as well as in Africa in 1995. The Daily Beast reported earlier this week that the Pentagon was withholding over $104 million from military labs including RIID, where cutting-edge work on infectious diseases has traditionally been conducted. The Justice Department has quietly asked Congress for the ability to ask chief judges to detain people indefinitely without trial during emergencies — part of a push for new powers that comes as the coronavirus spreads through the United States. Documents reviewed by POLITICO detail the department’s requests to lawmakers on a host of topics, including the statute of limitations, asylum and the way court hearings are conducted. […] The DOJ requests — which are unlikely to make it through a Democratic-led House — span several stages of the legal process, from initial arrest to how cases are processed and investigated. In one of the documents, the department proposed that Congress grant the attorney general power to ask the chief judge of any district court to pause court proceedings “whenever the district court is fully or partially closed by virtue of any natural disaster, civil disobedience, or other emergency situation.”....

The largesse appears to be part of a public relations effort by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Communist Party to deflect criticism over their responsibility for the deadly outbreak. Beijing's campaign as a global benefactor may deliver results in Europe, where pandering political leaders have long been notoriously fearful of antagonizing the European Union's second-largest trading partner. What remains unclear is if European publics, which are bearing the brunt of the suffering caused by the epidemic, will be as easily willing to overlook the malfeasance of Chinese officials. In what can only be described as a geopolitical humiliation, Ursula Von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, the administrative arm of the European Union, which touts itself as the "largest economy in the world," heaped praise on Communist China for donating an inconsequential amount of medical equipment to the bloc. On March 18, she tweeted: "Spoke with Chinese PM Li Keqiang who announced that China will provide 2 mil surgical masks, 200,000 N95 masks & 50,000 testing kits. In January, the European Union helped China by donating 50 tons of equipment. Today, we're grateful for China's support. We need each other's support in times of need." The European Union has been incapable of providing meaningful assistance to Italy, the bloc's third-largest member, which has been especially hard hit by the virus. After Germany, the EU's most powerful member, banned the export of medical protection gear to avoid its own supply shortages of masks, gloves and suits, China stepped in. On March 12, China sent to Italy a team of nine Chinese medical staff along with some 30 tons of equipment on a flight organized by the Chinese Red Cross. The head of the Italian Red Cross, Francesco Rocca, said that the shipment "revealed the power of international solidarity." He added: "In this moment of great stress, of great difficulty, we are relieved to have this arrival of supplies. It is true that it will help only temporarily, but it is still important. We have a desperate need for these masks right now. We need respirators that the Red Cross will donate to the government. He has rewritten Middle Eastern history to better jibe with his idea of the “poignant and difficult case” of “victims turning perpetrators.”... scumbag-Soros, much like the virulent anti-Semitic graphic daily propaganda in Arab, Palestinian, and Iranian newspapers, has been comparing Israel’s self-defense against repeated attempts of annihilation by Islamist/Arab terrorists to Nazi atrocities. The successful defense against terrorism, especially preemptive actions, is never appropriate in scumbag-Soros’ book. His history of how Israel fought for its independence could have been written by Noam Chomsky or Yasser Arafat: “After the war World War II, Jews resorted to terrorism against the British in Palestine to secure a homeland in Israel,” scumbag-Soros writes in his book, The Bubble of American Supremacy. “Subsequently, after being attacked by Arab nations, Israel occupied additional territory and expelled many of the inhabitants. Eventually, the Arab victims also turned perpetrators, and Israel started suffering terrorist attacks.” This scumbag-Soros interpretation denies the number of Arab invasions and the brutal tactics that led Israel to occupy the lands these attacks were launched from in the first place. As for the “expulsions,” many left because the surrounding Arab nations ordered them to leave. The Arab plan was to kill all the Jews as soon as possible and move back. For defending themselves, the Jews are getting what they deserve, in scumbag-Soros’ mind. By surviving Arab/Muslim violence all these years, and by defending themselves, the Jews in Israel and elsewhere bear the responsibility for rising anti-Semitism and anti-Israel activities. In November 2003, as Operation Iraqi Freedom was underway and anti-American and anti-Israeli/anti-Semitic demonstrations spread throughout Europe, scumbag-Soros for the first time appeared at a meeting of the Jewish Funders Network in New York, making these remarks: “The policies of the Bush administration and the Sharon administration contribute”…to the riseof anti-Semitism. He assured his audience that once Bush and Sharon were removed from office, the world would go back to not hating Jews. “If we change that direction, then anti-Semitism also will diminish. I can’t see how one could confront it directly,” he said. The wide and sharp denouncement of scumbag-Soros’s statements’ as "biased, bigoted and absolutely obscene” did not affect his determination to “hold Israel accountable,” as displayed in 2016 in leaked Open Society Foundations (OSF) documents. The 2016 DC Leaks revealed that OSF’s “progressive national security policies” included plans to “hold Israel accountable” for alleged breaches of international law. Appearing alongside Trump at a daily coronavirus task force briefing at the White House on Saturday, Vice President Mike Pence said that test results are in for about 195,000 Americans, and others have been tested at thousands of labs whose data has not yet been rolled in. More than 19,000 had been diagnosed as having the virus. Pence reiterated the administration's call for Americans not to show up and ask to be tested unless they’re showing symptoms of COVID-19, which can include fever, cough and shortness of breath. "If you don't have symptoms, don't do a test," Pence said. "It is another way that the American people can make sure that we are preserving the resources our health care workers need." Trump has refused to take responsibility for the nation’s shortage of coronavirus tests, a problem that persists despite repeated promises from top U.S. officials – particularly Pence – that it would be quickly alleviated. Meanwhile, a new COVID-19 test can deliver results in less than an hour has been approved under an FDA emergency authorization, marking the first test clinicians can use at the bedside. Testing shortages have been an ongoing challenge in the U.S. response to curb the pandemic. The White House has promised testing will ramp up as more private companies come on board....
