vote, fume over Lindsey Graham’s
rule-change remedy

{ bizpacreview.com } ~ Democratic Senator Dianne Fein-stein urged Lindsey Graham — the chairman of the Republican-led Senate Judiciary Committee — to reconsider his decision to force a vote on his asylum bill... next week after Democrats blocked the measure by not showing up to vote this week. “Our Committee rules are intended to ensure meaningful participation by both the majority and the minority, regardless which party is in charge,” Fein-stein wrote. “Your announcement to disregard these rules, proceed with legislation in violation of our rules and practices, and change the rules unilaterally in a partisan manner is deeply concerning…I urge you to delay taking this matter up until after the August recess.” The rules guiding the 10-member committee require that 7 members from the majority (Republicans) and 2 from the minority party (Democrats) show up to vote on the proposed bill. Dianne Fein-stein was the only Dem to show up for the vote, which forced Graham to delay voting on the bill. Senator Graham responded to the Democratic filibuster by saying that  Republicans will change the rules to get rid of the requirement that two Democrats be at a meeting in order to vote on legislation. Naturally, Fein-stein and other Democrats got enraged and accused  Lindsey Graham of trying to push a law through without their consent even though they forced his hand by not showing up to vote. Keep in mind that lawmakers’ primary job is to consider and vote on laws, so not showing up to vote on legislation is a dereliction of duty and a waste of taxpayer money. Predictably, Fein-stein wants Graham to delay voting on his asylum bill until September — after Congress enjoys a taxpayer-funded vacation for the entire month of August...

NYPD Union to de Blasio: “You are
the CAUSE of Attacks on the NYPD”

by bongino.com ~ Saddening videos have surfaced this week of police officers being disrespected by civilians on the very streets they are trying to protect... It appears lines are now being drawn between those who support the NYPD and those who don’t. Most importantly, officers and those who are asked to protect us feel betrayed by political leaders. The Police Benevolent Association (PBA) is the largest police union in New York City and have engaged directly with New York Mayor scumbag-Bill de Blasio. scumbag-De Blasio issued a statement after videos surfaced where he thanked the NYPD for their “speed and professionalism” and saying “we stand with them today and always” in a tweet. The PBA responded pointedly to scumbag-de Blasio saying “You are the cause of attacks on the NYPD.” Fox Nashville has recounted the tense relationship between New York City’s law enforcement and the mayor “since running on a platform that critics say stoked anti-police sentiment.” Showing support for our law enforcement, President Trump tweeted yesterday: We love our Law Enforcement Officers all around this great Country. What took place in NYC with water being tossed on NYPD officers was a total disgrace. It is time for @NYCMayor @BilldeBlasio to STAND UP for those who protect our lives and serve us so well. It is time that Democrats and Democratic leadership end their public display of their vicious disdain of those who protect us. It is creating a divisive and dangerous country. Fox 17 Nashville reports that this year, 24 officers have been fatally shot in the line of duty. According to FBI Director Christopher Wray said at a Senate hearing earlier this week that “the level of violence against law enforcement in this country doesn’t get a whole lot of national coverage…and I worry often that Americans don’t realize the extent of the problem.”

rightwingtribune.com } ~ Just about everyone who watched former special counsel Robert Mueller stumble, stammer, and stutter his way through two painful congressional hearings to discuss his ‘Russia collusion’... report clearing POTUS Donald Trump of any criminal behavior agrees that the one-time crack Justice Department lawyer and FBI director has, mentally, lost a few steps in recent years. Mueller looked all of his 74 years and then some multiple times during appearances before the House Judiciary Committee and the House Government Oversight and Reform Committee Wednesday, at times forgetting details contained in a 400-plus page report he allegedly wrote. In addition, Mueller seemed totally clueless about one of the most important details of his investigation and the entire ‘Russian collusion’ narrative — Fusion GPS, the firm that commissioned the Steele Dossier, paid for by the scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton campaign and the DNC — the one the FBI used to obtain a FISA court surveillance warrant to spy on the Trump campaign. But to some Democrats, Mueller’s advancing age and declining mental capacities,  clearly on display during the hearings, that was to blame. No. Someone must have ‘gotten to him.’ That’s what super-partisan Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) actually believes. He said so on Thursday. During Mueller’s testimony, Lieu asked him a leading question: “The reason that you did not indict the president is because of the Office of Legal Counsel opinion that you cannot indict a sitting president, correct?”“Correct,” Mueller responded. Later in his testimony, however, Mueller corrected the record — because to cling to his answer may have meant a perjury charge since it conflicted with a statement made by Attorney General William Barr, a man clearly in control of his faculties, weeks ago. Then, Barr said that he asked Mueller three times if the reason he did not recommend charges against the president was due to the OLC opinion and each time Mueller said no, that had no bearing on it. After a recess, Mueller clarified his answer, and said that he didn’t mean to imply that he would’ve indicted the president if not for the OLC opinion. “I want to go back to one thing that was said this morning by Mr. Lieu…” he said. “As we say in the report and as I said at the opening, we did not reach a determination as to whether the president committed a crime.” In a Thursday evening interview with CNN — where else? — Lieu claimed that Mueller did  understand his question but then intimated that some sinister Trump-ite must have coerced him into changing it. Or something...  https://rightwingtribune.com/2019/07/27/just-when-we-thought/

americanthinker.com } ~ On July 17th, President Trump met with more than two dozen survivors of religious conflicts, including victims from Iraq, Tibet, China and Bangladesh.  Several individuals stepped forward at the Second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom... to tell their stories in hopes of informing him and gaining a commitment for intervention. Among them was Priya Saha, an officer with the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (BHBCUC), who was determined to obtain Trump’s assistance with the dire situation faced by minorities in her country. She testified that since Bangladesh became independent in 1972 and Islam was declared the state religion five years later, non-Muslims have had their land confiscated and, among other atrocities, have been raped and murdered.  Millions of people have disappeared or have fled the country, she said. As a result of her testimony, the government threatened Saha with sedition charges, angry mobs demonstrated outside her home, she and her family have been targeted on social media and she was expelled from the council. All this occurred in a Muslim country which claims to observe religious freedoms and declares that all faiths live in harmony. As the former organization secretary for the non-profit BHBCUC, Saha is well-versed in the problems resulting from the infringement of minority rights in Bangladesh. The organization was established  in 1988 to protect the rights of religious and ethnic minorities in the country after Islam was instituted as the state religion by constitutional amendment in 1977. Secularism had originally been a fundamental principle of Bangladesh’s 1972 Constitution.  But this founding principle was altered by then-President, Ziaur Rahman, who replaced the non-sectarian text with a commitment to the “absolute trust and faith in Almighty Allah.” Over the years, many challenges arose against the constitutional amendment amid calls for Bangladesh to return to secularism.  All have been rejected and Islam remains as the official state religion. During her brief visit with President Trump, Saha’s goal was to call attention to the religious cleansing of minorities that began at the time of independence and is still very much in existence today. In 1947, Hindus made up 31% of the population. Today, they represent approximately 9%. What’s more is that minorities have been dispossessed of over 3 million acres of land by the discriminatory statute used against non-Muslims, the Vested Property Act of 1972, which allows the government to confiscate property from individuals deemed “enemies of the state.” Since independence, minorities have been subjected to atrocities such as rape and murder and many have fled the country.  Under representation in the military, police and government services further disenfranchise those that remain...  https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/07/a_brave_soldier_in_the_fight_for_minority_rights_in_bangladesh.html
The False Promise of the Minimum Wage Hike
By Dennis L. Weisman
americanthinker.com } ~ Last week, the United States House of Representatives passed legislation raising the Federal minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2025. Contrary to what the Democrats would have you believe... this is less about compassion for low-skilled workers and more about the dearth of economic literacy. If you think a $15 minimum wage is a good idea, why not $1,000 or $2,000? No workers will be hired at that wage, but progressive politicians can claim that but for greedy businesses low-skilled workers would have prospered. The decision to raise the minimum wage is a value judgement -- a conscious decision to have fewer working at a higher wage than more working at a market-based wage. This is ironic coming from a party that decries the elitist policies of those on the other side of the aisle. The worst sin of the great many sins perpetuated in Washington is committed by those who worsen the plight of workers on the lower rungs of the economic ladder with false promises that they are doing otherwise. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) found that the minimum wage increase would give 17 million workers a raise and move approximately 1.3 million people above the poverty level. It would also cause about 1.3 million Americans to lose their jobs, reduce business income, lower economic growth and raise prices across the economy. Like virtually all public policy decisions, raising the minimum wage entails economic tradeoffs because it creates winners and  losers. The first observation is that firms in competitive markets are profit-maximizers, which means they are cost-minimizers. Workers compete not only with one another for jobs but with technology (capital) as well. Minimizing costs requires that the last worker hired contribute to revenues an amount that is just equal to its wages. A similar calculus applies to capital. Businesses will naturally seek to insulate themselves from the effects of the increase in the minimum wage. This takes two different forms -- a reduction in the amount of labor that is hired and an increase in the amount of capital that is employed (e.g., robotics). Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates understands automation and he warns that increasing the minimum wage destroys jobs. Well, jobs are a great thing. You have to be a bit careful: If you raise the minimum wage, you’re encouraging labor substitution and you’re going to go buy machines and automate things — or cause jobs to appear outside of that jurisdiction. And so within certain limits, you know, it does cause job destruction...

Following the blackout, Democrat New York Gov. scumbag-Andrew Cuomo leveled blame on Con Edison, stating, “We’ve been through this situation [with] ConEd time & again & they should have been better prepared — period.”

However, the lion’s share of the blame resides not with Con Edison but with scumbag-Cuomo and his “green” energy policies. As The Wall Street Journal reports, “A new state law the Governor signed last week requires 70% of state electricity to come from renewables by 2030 and 100% from ‘carbon-free’ sources by 2040. Meantime, the Governor has blocked three natural gas pipelines and mandated the premature shutdown of the Indian Point nuclear plant that supplies a quarter of New York City’s power.”

In short, scumbag-Cuomo and his fellow leftists pass virtue-signaling legislation that does little other than crippling the power company with nearly impossible “green” regulatory standards — standards that also effectively jack up the cost of electricity for all New Yorkers for an inferior product. And to top it off, scumbag-Cuomo has the gall to blame the power company for failing to meet customer demands.

It’s another classic case of Democrats instituting leftist polices that inevitably fail, but they then turn and blame the failure for their polices on their constituents.  ~The Patriot Post
