A ‘MEDICARE FOR ALL’ HARBINGER: “Federal authorities on Friday charged more than 30 individuals in connection with an alleged Medicare-fraud scheme that took as much as $2 billion out of the pockets of taxpayers before it was detected. The scheme revolved around tricking seniors into getting their cheeks swabbed for unnecessary DNA tests that would supposedly tell them whether they were genetically predisposed to serious diseases, including cancer. The defendants would then charge Medicare for the swabs. In total, they are alleged to have collected $2 billion in reimbursements, with the typical bill running between $7,000 and $12,000.” (National Review)
NORTH CAROLINA GERRYMANDERING: “Democrats are headed back to court to challenge the validity of North Carolina’s 13 congressional districts, just weeks after the state’s highest court ruled that the Republican-controlled legislature unconstitutionally gerrymandered state-level maps. A new lawsuit filed Friday on behalf of 14 North Carolina voters challenges Republican-drawn maps that first went into effect ahead of the 2016 elections, after a court threw out a previous set of maps that were drawn after the 2010 census.” (The Hill)

The paper received a great deal of attention… As it turned out, however, the paper by Decety was wrong. … Upon re-analysis, [social psychologist Azim] Shariff discovered that the results were due to a coding error.” In the Washington Examiner, Madeline Fry responds: “It was clear all along that something was not right with the paper. … Some news outlets, though, still haven’t changed their reporting. The science journal made the (very belated) right call to formally retract the article, but it’s also important that those who disseminated it correct the widely shared and false findings. The outlets that published the results of the paper ought to update their articles, even if that’s painful for their confirmation bias.”

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ CBS Reporter Scott Pelley led the broadcast of 60-Minutes presentation of the House impeachment of Donald Trump with a stunning claim... “Tonight, “60 Minutes” has obtained a letter that indicates the government whistleblower who set off the impeachment inquiry of President Trump is under federal protection, because he or she fears for their safety.” The claim is quite something. A CIA operative that needs to be put under federal protection? Wow. Immediately CNN and the media pounced on the opportunity to promote the “whistleblower” as a victim. Except, they encountered one problem…. it’s not true. Scott Pelley made it up. Even one of the lawyers for the CIA whistleblower, Mark S. Zaid, had to try and clean up CBS’s false narrative: “60 Minutes completely misinterpreted the contents of our letter.” UPDATE: In a rather remarkable turn-of-events, CBS says they stand by their reporting and their sources…..However, their sources are the ‘whistleblower’s’ lawyers. The lawyers, aka the “CBS sources”, say CBS is fake news.

The lawsuit was filed yesterday against the U.S. Department of State (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:19-cv-02893)). The suit was filed after the State Department failed to respond to a May 7, 2019, FOIA request seeking access to the following records: 1. Any and all records regarding, concerning, or related to Viktor Shokin’s investigation of Mykola Zolchevsky and Shokin’s resignation at Ukraine’s Prosecutor General. 2. Any and all records of communication between any official, employee, or representative of the Department of State and any official, employee, or representative of the Office of the Vice President regarding Viktor Shokin. In a widely distributed video, loose lips liar-Joe Biden confirmed that he successfully pressured, under threat of withholding $1 billion in U.S. government aid, the Ukrainian government to fire Shokin, who had allegedly launched an investigation into Burisma, which had purportedly paid loose lips liar-Biden’s son Hunter $50,000 a month. “The latest assault on President Trump is an obvious attempt to protect loose lips liar-Joe Biden from the corruption scandals involving his son,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Judicial Watch’s latest lawsuit will be the first of many to try to get to the bottom of this influence-peddling scandal.”

Democrats previously initiated an impeachment inquiry, which leads to one of the most serious, constitutional duties of Members of Congress: removal of the President of the United States,” Biggs, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, said in a statement. “Through this process, if the President has committed high crimes or misdemeanors, Congress may overturn the election of the President and the will of the American people. It is therefore inexcusable to toy with the process and mislead the American public with such a statement.” Although the White House released Wednesday a transcript of the Trump-Zelensky call, scumbag-Schiff made-up his own transcript that he read ahead of the testimony of acting DNI chief Joseph Maguire in which he accused the president of engaging in quid pro quo with the intent of exchanging U.S. military aid to Ukraine for an investigation into Hunter loose lips liar-Biden, the son of former Vice President and 2020 White House hopeful loose lips liar-Joe Biden. “We’ve been very good to your country. Very good. No other country has done as much as we have. But you know what? I don’t see much reciprocity here. I hear what you want. I have a favor I want from YOU though. And I’m going to say this only seven times so you better listen good,” said scumbag-Schiff. “I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand? Lots of it,” the congressman continued. Federal authorities confirmed this week that the officer did not listen to the Trump-Zelensky call and only possessed second-hand information, which as Sen. { .meforum.org } ~ Al Bawaba spoke with Daniel Pipes, president of the Middle East Forum, to gain further perspective on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's current predicament... He has indictments hanging over him and hopes to avoid them by staying prime minister. He is now the longest serving PM of Israel ever and hopes to further consolidate his legacy. He sees himself as the best leader in terms of foreign policy in particular, and so he has a variety of motives, both personal and national, to want to remain as prime minister. It certainly could be. I see three possible outcomes: The first would involve someone, who is currently saying, 'I won't work with Netanyahu,' changing his mind- which could be Gantz, Lieberman, or Peretz. If any of those three do agree to work with him, then there's a resolution government and to one extent or another, Netanyahu stays in power. This seems less likely with Gantz and more so with Lieberman or Peretz. The second possibility is that Likud parliamentary members depose Netanyahu and vote someone else in as leader, which would make it possible and much easier for Gantz or Lieberman to join with Likud since they are openly saying that they would do so without Netanyahu, presenting him as the obstacle. And the final option is another election. I don't really see any other alternatives and so I'm inclined to think that Likud leaders will say to Netanyahu, 'Thank you for your service, but the time has come for us to have a new leader...

A Black Swan candidate of 2008 is appreciably responsible for it, and no one seemed to notice... When Sarah Palin became the focus of the hopes of committed conservatives, the swamp did everything in its power to destroy her. Venal Republican operatives were so beset with personal jealousy, they were willing to crash the ship on the rocks to ensure against her ascendancy. They won their battle, sadly. But, a single line -- just one -- provided the foundation for conservatives. Mrs. Palin told America “Do you know the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick!” In one succinct line she captured the commitment and determination of conservatives seeking to protect something they love. Fast forward a year, and those same conservatives saw scumbag/liar-nObama trying to destroy that which they love and without hesitation, these conservatives jumped into a new political movement. Bolstered by their belief that Sarah Palin was an everyday somebody like them, and infuriated by her maltreatment, they populated the ranks of the Tea Party. They were determined to protect America. Within months, they were activists. Then in 2010, the Tea Party revolt wiped out the budding careers of a huge number of Democrats -- about 1000 existing Democrat officeholders were sent packing, as were a large number of what the Democrats thought were viable challengers. It was not just a loss; it was the creation of a schism in Democrat Party, one that has gotten worse in the nine years since. This one election left them without a pool of sane people at the party’s center. The old guard in ultrasafe districts continued their careers, but had no one to mentor. The modestly experienced Democrats were gone, and the highest priority for the party was recruiting replacements. In this, they made the only choice they could; they went for youthful rookies. And over the last four election cycles they continued the strategy, building on its limited success. They forgot or never recognized the risk -- that the new youth party was opposed to their system...

Trump Inks New Trade Deal With JapanBusiness Review Board: On Wednesday, President Donald Trump announced a new trade deal with Japan that specifically benefits the U.S. agriculture sector. The White House statement explains that “under a market access agreement, Japan will open their markets to approximately $7 billion in American agricultural exports and more.” The announcement further notes that “Japan will eliminate or significantly lower tariffs for American beef, pork, poultry, wheat, cheese, wine, certain nuts and berries, cherries, ethanol, and more — a major win for our farmers, ranchers, and growers.”
This is definitely good news for American farmers who have felt the brunt of tariffs in the long-running trade war with China. The Wall Street Journal, which has long voiced strong criticism of Trump’s tariff strategy, says, “The Japan deal be the President’s biggest trade victory in his first term.” Furthermore, it increases pressure on China to negotiate an end to the trade war.
While the Journal disappointedly observes that the trade agreement does not include any deal on motor vehicles, the White House statement does note that more may be coming in the future as “the United States will engage in further negotiations in the interest of achieving a final, comprehensive trade deal.” ~The Patriot Post
