THE ART OF THE DEAL: “They want to make a deal. That’s a great thing,” President Donald Trump asserted today regarding a potential trade accord with China. Fox News reports that China is “now seeking a ‘calm’ end to its ongoing trade war with the U.S.” At least two factors have buoyed U.S. momentum. First, on Friday, “Mr. Trump said he would bolster existing tariffs on $250 billion worth of Chinese goods to 30 percent from 25 percent on Oct. 1,” The New York Times reported. “And he said the United States would tax an additional $300 billion worth of Chinese imports at a 15 percent rate, rather than the 10 percent he had initially planned.” Secondly, “Trump said Sunday that the U.S. and Japan have agreed ‘in principle’ to a bilateral trade deal involving agriculture and digital products,” according to The Hill. Heavy tariffs and the mere concept of a U.S.-Japan trade deal may be the combination that finally persuades China to made a deal.
G7 CONCLUDES: The Group of Seven summit wraps up today. “The final day was set to be pivotal for the leaders, as they sought to cap a summit marked more by whiplash, mixed signals and surprises than by concrete results,” The Washington Post reports. According to Trump, “There’s total unity. I’m talking about all the seven countries, and it’s been really good. We’ve had great unity even with Iran.”
DO AS A SAY, NOT AS I DO: In a recent Washington Post article, Andrew Freedman matter-of-factly declared, “Greenland ice melt, triggered by increased amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, has worsened coastal flooding in the United States and elsewhere.” He goes on to warn, “Studies have shown that during past periods when Earth was about as warm as it is today, the entire Greenland ice sheet was lost, raising global sea levels by about 23 feet.” Barack scumbag/liar-nObama was at least rhetorically concerned as well, stating in his 2015 State of the Union address, “We’ll continue to see rising oceans … and floods.” These postulations notwithstanding, Barack and Michelle scumbag/liar-nObama are slated to purchase a multimillion-dollar oceanfront estate on Martha’s Vineyard. So much for the Huffington Post’s 2017 prediction: “Climate Change May Force Millions Of Americans To Move Inland.”
OPPORTUNISM: According to The Washington Free Beacon, “Former Illinois Republican congressman Joe Walsh announced his plans to primary President Donald Trump during a Sunday interview with George Stephanopoulos.” Political commentator Erick Erickson fumes, “He is being pushed by a bunch of people who claim character really does matter. So they’ve settled for an opportunistic grifter and birther conspiracist. They might as well back Donald Trump instead of mini-Trump humper turned Trump dumper. What a spectacular admission of failure that Walsh is the best they could come up with. And that they would settle for him suggests they really aren’t that concerned with character.”
WITCH HUNT: “The House Judiciary Committee will subpoena former White House staff secretary Rob Porter as part of its probe into President Trump’s alleged attempts to obstruct special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation. … The White House has thus far blocked senior White House officials from complying with lawmakers’ oversight requests, asserting that high-level officials enjoy ‘absolute immunity’ from testifying before Congress. That claim is now being challenged in the courts by Democrats seeking testimony from former White House counsel Don McGahn.” (National Review)

Jewish Rabbis and Disloyalty

{ americanthinker.com } ~ Like the boy in the tale of the emperor’s new clothes, President Trump has once again spoken a taboo truth... Some American Jews seem to be more loyal to an increasingly anti-Jewish and far-left Democratic Party than they are to the Jewish people. That’s not necessarily an immoral position for most American Jews to take: As individuals, they have no concrete duty of loyalty to the Jewish people, and it is their absolute right to seek stronger allegiances through political, rather than through religious or ethnic affinity. But American Jewish leaders, picked and paid as such by the Jewish community, are in a different position. Those Jewish leaders whose fiduciary duty of loyalty is to the Jewish missions of their organizations, but whose primary loyalty is to the Tlaibanized progressive movement and the party that champions it, are betraying that duty in some truly indecent ways. Consider Reconstructionist Rabbi Toba Spitzer. As president of the Massachusetts Board of Rabbis (MBR), and as the long-time rabbi of the cultish Congregation Dorshei Tzedek, Spitzer has aggressively promoted extreme left-wing causes. Many are direct threats to the Jewish community: embracing anti-Semitic Islamist extremists like Linda Sarsour, hostility toward the U.S. government, hostility toward the Israeli government, support for the anti-Semitic Occupy Wall Street movement, support for the anti-Semitic Black Lives Matter movement, and open border refugee policies are some examples. Yet Rabbi Spitzer and the MBR insist that these causes are Jewish religious imperatives, even as they proclaim Jew-haters like the Hamas front group, CAIR, and the terror-affiliated Islamic Society of Boston to be their friends and allies. At the same time, Spitzer and the MBR demonize in vicious terms those fellow Jews who don’t agree with their political viewpoints. Last year, Spitzer wrote that, when it comes to Israel, American Jews should ask themselves: “Do we believe that the physical continuity of the Jewish people supersedes other Jewish values?” In other words: Should the Israelis choose to die en masse instead of committing what Rabbi Spitzer feels is the unforgivable sin of perpetuating the fight with the Palestinians? Implicitly answering in the affirmative, Spitzer challenged the “existential narrative” of Israel, arguing that Jewish sovereignty -- and the Jewish lives protected by its existence -- should not supersede the Jewish values of “lovingkindness” (chesed) and “mercy” (rachamim) toward “supporters of Hamas” -- her words, not mine. Rabbi Spitzer’s question, and the argument implicit in it, comes from ignorance. According to the Jewish canon, which deals with the laws of armed conflict at length, war against the likes of Hamas is literally a mitzvah. Beyond Judaism, the principle of individual and collective self-defense of life and property is a universal human value enshrined in the law of nations and in free sovereign legal systems like those of the United States. It is an inhuman demand, most often made by totalitarians, that a class of people die or submit to being robbed without putting up a fight -- for the good of another class or people...

Iran Kicks Off ‘Massive’ War Games,
Unveils Homemade Russian Missile System

{ freebeacon.com } ~ The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps' ground forces kicked off a "massive" set of war drills Thursday... as the country unveiled its own homemade version of Russia's advanced S-300 missile defense system in yet another showing of Tehran's growing readiness for a possible war. Iranian military leaders said the war games will mix with actual fighting as the IRGC forces seek to cleanse what they described as "anti-revolutionary terrorist groups" from along the country's borders. The operations follow an attack on IRGC units in July that killed one and injured one other. "The drill is a real one because the battlefield, enemy, and the fighters are real," Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour, commander of the IRGC's ground force, was quoted as telling the country's state-controlled press. "Some terrorists might be hiding at the bordering areas and they will be targeted during the Qadir drills." The war games come as Iran unveiled its own version of the Russian-made S-300 missile defense system, a highly advanced radar system that Iran had been seeking to employ for years. The radar can target ballistic missiles, such as those Israel or America might use in a war, and is said to be capable of targeting multiple points at once."Bavar 373 is the most important indigenized missile defense system whose design and manufacturing started a few years ago and can engage multiple targets in high altitudes," Gen. Amir Hatami, Iran's defense minister, said at a Thursday ceremony unveiling the new military hardware. Iranian military leaders say the system is even more advanced than its Russian counterpart and can detect 60 targets simultaneously while engaging six of them at once...

Liberal CNN Panelist Blows Up When
Confronted Over Palestinian Terrorism

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Liberal writer Peter Beinart erupted at fellow CNN panelist Rich Lowry on Monday while attempting to excuse Palestinian violence toward Israelis... saying he didn't agree but they also didn't have to be "saints" to have rights. The debate began following a news conference by Reps. worthless-Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) and worthless-Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.), the two Muslim congresswomen recently denied entry into Israel over their support for the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement. Condemned by the Anti-Defamation League, BDS has links to terrorism and has been called anti-Semitic by Senate Minority Leader Chuck scumbag-Schumer (D., N.Y.). Miftah, the Palestinian nonprofit that organized worthless-Tlaib and worthless-Omar's delegation to Israel, promoted the anti-Semitic "blood libel" conspiracy theory that accused Jews of putting Christian blood in matzah on Passover. It also has terrorist sympathizers among its membership. Beinart, a writer for The Atlantic, bristled when The Lead fill-in host John Berman noted Miftah's ugly background and worthless-Omar only making a passive reference to it in her comments. "Palestinians don't have to be saints in order to have the basic rights that all of us take for granted," Beinart said. "Miftah has said things that I disagree with. They made an anti-Semitic statement they apologized for … The first time I went to spend time with Palestinians in the the West Bank, it was a shattering experience." He compared their situation to the Jim Crow South in the United States. Beinart, while noting he had a friend killed in a suicide bombing, said what was most important was worthless-Omar's remarks about the state of Palestinians under Israeli occupation. Lowry responded, however, by saying the media wouldn't give a white nationalist organization the "leeway" Beinart was giving Miftah. "This is an anti-Semitic group that's supported terrorism, supports blowing up innocent civilians and children and no matter what you think of the dispute between Palestinians and Israel, that is an illegitimate tactic that no one should associate with," Lowry said...

"There Is No Christian Anymore in This Town" Persecution of Christians, June 2019

During their rampage in a Christian village... they set it ablaze before leaving; several of the slain were burned alive. "About 50 heavily armed men arrived on motorbikes and pickups," a survivor recalled. "They first surrounded the village and then attacked — anyone who tried to escape was killed.... No one was spared — women, children, elderly people." Security sources confirmed that the raiders also randomly killed domestic animals in the village. It was "virtually wiped out." Burkina Faso: Islamic terrorists slaughtered 29 Christians over the course of two separate raids. The first took place on Sunday, June 9, in the town of Arbinda; 19 Christians were slaughtered. The next day, another ten Christians were murdered in a nearby town. An additional 11,000 Christians fled the region and were left displaced; they feared if they were to remain in their villages they would be next. "There is no Christian anymore in this town Arbinda," said a local contact. He added that "It's proven that terrorists were looking for Christians. Families who hide Christians are also killed. Arbinda had now lost in total no less than 100 people within six months." These June attacks follow a string of Islamic terror attacks in the West African nation over the preceding six weeks that left at least another 20 Christians dead. Nigeria: Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed at least 24 Christians in three separate raids. On June 17, the herdsmen slaughtered 13 Christians — three of whom were children, one reportedly only eight years old — in Kaduna and Plateau States. Two churches, more than 200 Christian homes, and crops were also torched to the ground. The same day, in Tarabu State, "Muslim Fulanis riding Bajaj motorcycles" raided another Christian village, where they butchered another 11 Christians. "They burned houses and shot us as we fled," a "contact" said, according to the report. According to Morning Star News: "Like Boko Haram, they are inspired by the jihad and caliphate of their Fulani kinsman Usman dan Fodio," John Eibner, chairman of international management at the Swiss-based CSI, notes on the Website. "The extensive death and destruction caused by Fulani terrorists rarely makes major headlines in the West. But, according to the Global Terrorism Index, 'In 2018 alone, deaths attributed to Fulani extremists are estimated to be six times greater than the number committed by Boko Haram'... "Fulani attacks against villages, the destruction of crops, and kidnappings tend to be directed against Christian and traditionalist villagers, with the goal of driving them off their land and occupying it," Eibner states on the Website (

The violence of these Muslim Fulani militias tends to be conducted with impunity. When Illegal Aliens Break the Law

Local officials who try to obstruct federal immigration enforcement should be condemned for endangering the public, while those who assist the federal government in ridding their communities of dangerous, criminal aliens should be commended.
Contrast the latest horrific news from Montgomery County, Maryland, a sanctuary jurisdiction, with what’s happening in Culpeper County, Virginia, whose sheriff, Scott Jenkins, makes public safety — as opposed to political correctness — his No. 1 priority.
Most Americans agree on what should be done about illegal aliens who break local criminal laws. Once they’ve served their time, they should be removed from the country, rather than sent back into the community where they can commit more crimes.
But that’s not what they do in Montgomery County. Just days after the county executive, Marc Elrich, issued an executive order prohibiting county employees from asking anyone about their immigration status and banning Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from all county jails, two illegal aliens from El Salvador were arrested for repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl. This is the same Marc Elrich who says President Trump’s enforcement of our immigration laws meets “the definition of terrorism.”
According to WJLA, the local ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C., Mr. Elrich was actually grinning at his press conference when he gleefully said that he couldn’t do anything about ICE waiting outside the jail house door for criminal aliens being released. But he promised that if ICE asked Montgomery County to hold criminal aliens with “anything other than a judicial order, then we’re not holding them.”
Contrast Mr. Elrich’s reckless and dangerous policy with that of Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins. He cooperates with the federal government and honors federal immigration detainer warrants issued by the Department of Homeland Security on illegal aliens who are being held in his jail because they’ve been arrested for local crimes. Liberals like Mr. Elrich hate this, which is why Mr. Jenkins was recently sued by the Legal Aid Justice Center of Falls Church for holding a criminal illegal alien until he could be picked up and deported by ICE.
Thankfully, a federal judge has now thrown out that suit.
In August 2017, Francisco Guardado Rios was arrested in Culpeper County for driving without a license and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Mr. Jenkins received an administrative detainer from ICE asking that ICE be notified at least 48 hours before Rios’ release, and requesting that the jail also maintain custody of the illegal alien for no more than 48 hours so ICE agents could pick him up.
After serving his sentence, Rios was held for an additional two days by Mr. Jenkins before being turned over to ICE agents. Rios claimed that being held in custody after completing his sentence violated his constitutional rights, and he alleged that Mr. Jenkins had held nearly 100 other illegal aliens past their release dates in 2017 and 2018, based on ICE detainers. Good for Mr. Jenkins.
Senior U.S. District Judge Glen E. Conrad ruled, however, that Mr. Jenkins acted lawfully in cooperating with ICE. The court held that while local authorities can’t arrest an illegal alien based solely on an immigration charge, they can hold an alien who’s been arrested for committing a local crime if they get “federal direction or authorization” to hold the alien. And Mr. Jenkins had that.
When local jurisdictions refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities, they create de facto sanctuaries for criminals like Francisco Guardado Rios. That is exactly what Montgomery County is doing.
As Frank Madrigal, the deputy director of the Baltimore ICE office says, Montgomery County is “basically making itself into a safe haven for a criminal element.” If you “want to commit crimes” and you are here illegally, than Montgomery County is the place to go because you will “have a better opportunity to commit crimes without risk” or “facing the consequences.”
It makes no sense to release criminal aliens back into the community where they can commit more crimes. Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins understands that. Unfortunately for the citizens of Montgomery County, Marc Elrich does not. ~The Patriot Post
