US Trade Deficit Drops for First Time in 6 Years

by thepatriotictimes.com ~ The U.S. trade deficit fell for the first time in six years in 2019 as President Donald Trump hammered China with import taxes... The Commerce Department said on Feb. 5 that the gap between what the United States sells and what it buys abroad fell 1.7 percent last year to $616.8 billion. U.S. exports fell 0.1 percent to $2.5 trillion. But imports fell more, slipping 0.4 percent to $3.1 trillion. Imports of crude oil plunged 19.3 percent to $126.6 billion. The deficit in the trade of goods with China narrowed last year by 17.6 percent to $345.6 billion. Trump has imposed tariffs on $360 billion worth of Chinese imports in a battle over Beijing’s aggressive drive to challenge American technological dominance. The world’s two biggest economies reached an interim trade deal last month, and Trump dropped plans to extend the tariffs to another $160 billion in Chinese goods. But goods trade gap with Mexico rose 26.2 percent last year to a record $101.8 billion. The goods deficit with the European Union also hit a record, $177.9 billion—up 5.5 percent from 2018. Overall, the United States posted a $866 billion deficit in the trade of goods such as cars and appliances, down from $887.3 billion in 2018. But it ran a $249.2 billion surplus in the trade of services such as tourism and banking, down from $260 billion in 2018. Trump campaigned on a promise to reduce America’s massive and persistent trade deficits, which he sees as a sign of economic weakness and the result of lopsided trade deals that put U.S. exporters at a disadvantage. He has negotiated a new trade agreement with Canada and Mexico that he says will bring more balance to trade in North America. Immediately After Impeachment Acquittal Files Cloture On More Judges To Remake Judiciary

{ dailywire.com } ~ On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wasted no time after the Senate acquitted President Trump in his impeachment trail... immediately filing cloture on a number of judges as he continued his relentless march toward remaking America’s judiciary with a conservative bent. The  judges included Andrew Lynn Brasher to be U.S. Circuit Judge for the Eleventh Circuit, Joshua M. Kindred to be U.S. District Judge for the District of Alaska, Matthew Thomas Schelp to be U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri, John Fitzgerald Kness to be U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Illinois, and Philip M. Halpern to be U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of New York.  In March 2019, Politico reported that McConnell was intent on moving as quickly as he could to get conservative judges confirmed: The Senate is on track to confirm the 34th Circuit Court judge of Trump’s presidency in the next week and the GOP has three more ready for floor action; that would give Trump roughly 20 percent of the Circuit Court seats in the country after just two years in office. At this rate, McConnell and Trump could leave few, if any, vacancies there for a potential Democratic president in 2021. Jewish Democrats spearhead letter 

to Trump blasting peace plan

{ timesofisrael.com } ~ Two Jewish lawmakers spearheaded a letter to US President Donald Trump signed by 107 Democratic members of the House expressing “strong disapproval” of his Israeli-Palestinian peace plan... “Our concern is both with the substance of your plan, which will exacerbate and entrench conflict rather than resolve it, and with the timing of its release,” said the letter, initiated by Andy Levin of Michigan and Alan Lowenthal of California. Another seven Jewish Democrats also signed. Democrats at first were cautious to criticize the plan, crafted by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and released last week, in part because it restored the terminology of “two states.” But a number of Democrats have now expressed concern at the fractured, multi-enclave Palestinian entity that is at the heart of the plan’s proposal, and at its green light to Israel to annex about 30 percent of the West Bank. “While your proposal uses the language of statehood for Palestinians, it provides far less than an actual, viable state,” said the letter sent Thursday and first reported by Jewish Insider. The letter also faults the peace team for not consulting with Palestinians, and for releasing the plan just ahead of Israeli elections next month, in what they suggested was a bid to boost the prospects of Trump ally Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Releasing the plan now appears to be an inappropriate intervention in a foreign election,” the letter says. Mr. scumbag/liar-Schiff has been investigating President Trump, his family and businesses, the Trump Organization, over the congressman’s suspicions of blackmail, money laundering and bribery. Republican staffers say the inquiry was put on hold last fall pending the Ukraine  impeachment proceedings led by Mr. scumbag/liar-Schiff. But there is no sign Mr. scumbag/liar-Schiff has given up trying to prove Mr. Trump is corrupt, and if the president is impeached again, the charges would likely come from this probe, informed sources said.Mr. Trump alluded to a new impeachment push Thursday. “So we will probably have to do it again, because these people have gone stone-cold crazy, but I have beaten him all my life and I will beat him again if I have to,” Mr. Trump said at a post-Senate  acquittal celebration at the White House. “But what they are doing is very unfair.” House Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, said Thursday that Trump investigations will go on. Federal judge blocks another Trump 

administration immigration policy

by usafeatures.news ~ A federal judge appointed by President Barrack scumbag/liar-nObama issued a nationwide injunction on Friday against another Trump administration immigration policy... this time dealing with a provision in law known as “unlawful presence.” U.S. District Court Judge Loretta Biggs granted a permanent nationwide injunction on Thursday against a 2018 policy that altered how the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) can determine unlawful presence for students and exchange visitors. The policy is titled “Accrual of Unlawful Presence and F, J, and M Nonimmigrants.” Biggs had previously granted a preliminary injunction in May 2019 to block the policy from going into effect. Congress introduced the concept of “unlawful presence” in 1996 into the Immigration and Nationality Act, determining that a non-immigrant would be deemed in the country unlawfully if he or she is “present in the United States after the expiration of the period of stay authorized by the Attorney General.” Staying past the authorized date could result in fines and three-year bans from reentering the U.S. Generally, the “unlawful” period begins when a visa expires, but some non-immigrant visa holders aren’t given a precise date. In those cases, visas are deemed valid for “duration of status,” like when an international student is studying at an American university. “In 2018, the USCIS announced that it had changed its policy on ‘unlawful presence,’ issued in a policy memorandum, stating that foreigners begin accruing unlawful presence time from the time the Department of Homeland Security denies a request for an immigration benefit because the individual had violated his or her non-immigration status, the day after an I-94 visa has expired, or the day when an immigration judge orders the foreigner to be ‘excluded, deported, or removed,'” The Epoch Times reported. Sandbagging Sanders

Arnold Ahlert:  When are “coincidences” no longer believable — and a Democrat Party civil war seemingly inevitable?

On February 1, the Des Moines Register informed its readers why it decided not to release the final installment of the CNN/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll, indicating where the Democrat presidential candidates stood heading into Monday’s first-in-the-nation primary (caucus) vote. According to the paper, “A candidate’s name was omitted in at least one interview in which the respondent was asked to name their preferred candidate.” And despite the fact that it appeared to be a single instance, the paper decided not to publish the same poll it has conducted and published for 76 years “out of an abundance of caution.”

Perhaps. Or perhaps, as a tweet by reporter/conspiracy theorist Mike Cernovich indicated, commie-Bernie Sanders finished first and loose lips liar-Joe Biden finished last. For the less conspiratorial, political analysis website FiveThirtyEight’s final poll on February 3 had loose lips liar-Biden in second place, but commie-Sanders still maintained the top spot.

After Monday night, none of it was supposed to matter because the Iowa caucuses would remove all doubt as to which candidate the voters preferred.

Except that they didn’t. Although denied by party officials, a disastrous new smartphone app created for caucus organizers by Shadow, a tech firm run by veterans of scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, failed to properly tally the votes. The chaos continued into  Wednesday evening. While results remained officially unfinished, three things became clear: loose lips liar-Biden’s media-anointed status as the frontrunner is a sham, commie-Sanders remains a potent force, and a Democrat Party that wants to run the country is composed of embarrassing incompetents bedazzled by dubious technology.

Regardless, that’s two coincidences. Yet for commie-Sanders supporters, two other developments also seemed destined to undercut their candidate. One is the reality that the DNC has changed the debate rules — candidates no longer need to meet a minimum number of donations to appear on the debate stage in Nevada on February 19. This paves the way for the appearance of billionaire Mike Bloomberg, who is not soliciting any campaign donations. Again, it is undoubtedly sheer coincidence that Bloomberg is the only Democrat candidate who has personally donated money to the DNC, to the tune of $300,000.

Two, commie-Sanders supporters believe House Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi’s delay in sending articles of impeachment to the Senate was designed to keep commie-Sanders off the campaign trail, while loose lips liar-Biden remained unimpeded by the subsequent trial. This particular manipulation was seen as a reprise of the DNC’s effort to undermine commie-Sanders in favor of scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Democrats are facing a “damned if they do, damned if they don’t” conundrum. If commie-Sanders wins the nomination, the man who honeymooned in the Soviet Union, praised Fidel Castro’s revolution in Cuba and the Sandinista revolution in Nicaragua, and advocates for free college, free healthcare (even for illegal aliens), a moratorium on deportations, and just about every other big-government, redistributionist, national-debt-exploding scheme imaginable would likely get crushed in the general election.

On the other hand, if commie-Bernie loses the nomination and his supporters believe it’s due to DNC malfeasance or subterfuge, they will likely stay home, or possibly vote third party, also enabling Trump to prevail.

A brokered convention? According to Politico, a handful of Democrat insiders have “discussed the possibility of a policy reversal to ensure that so-called superdelegates can vote on the first ballot at the party’s national convention.” This is viewed as a way to “potentially weaken commie-Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign and head off a brokered convention.”

In 2016, superdelegates were allowed to vote on the first ballot, and they overwhelmingly sided with scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton. The rule was changed to placate the party’s increasingly leftist members, who viewed it as an integral part of the effort to sandbag commie-Sanders. His supporters would undoubtedly be enraged by any reversal of the reversal.

Yet if a brokered convention occurs and a possibly front-running Sanders is still sandbagged by party insiders? At the 1968 Democrat Convention, there was rioting in the streets outside the International Amphitheatre in Chicago. This time there might be rioting on the convention floor itself at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, especially when one considers some of the revealed comments made by a commie-Sanders campaign operative. “If commie-Bernie doesn’t get the nomination or if it goes to a second round at the DNC convention, f—ing Milwaukee will burn,” said campaign staffer Kyle Jurek. “It’ll start in Milwaukee. And when the police push back on that, other cities will just explode.”

As for commie-Sanders himself, The Washington Post  reports that, if elected, he would issue a series of executive orders “he could unilaterally enact.” They include a halt of border-wall construction, a reversal of Trump’s immigration policy, the reinstatement of the scumbag/liar-nObama administration policy granting legal status to illegal aliens, declaring climate change a national emergency (and thus halting the exportation of oil), and the cancellation of federal contracts for businesses paying workers less than $15 an hour.

For Democrats who don’t “feel the Bern,” such policies are untenable. “Democratic donors and party insiders are warning that large swaths of their voters could stay home — or even defect to Trump — if Vermont Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders snags the nomination,” the New York Post reports. Michael Kempner, a longtime Democrat donor who has given money to loose lips liar-Biden and Pete Buttigieg, sees the proverbial writing on the wall. “For Democrats to win,” he warns, “the election must be a referendum on Trump and not a debate about socialism.”

By contrast, columnist Roger L. Simon believes that debate is exactly what America needs. “This wouldn’t be a so-called ‘uni-party’ election resulting in minor differences in the tax code, as it usually does,” he explains. “Trump versus Sanders would be capitalism versus socialism!”

Undoubtedly. Moreover, there is a searing irony attached to this ongoing debacle: A Democrat Party that has long cultivated an increasingly radical-leftist, power-consolidating agenda now has a genuinely radical-leftist candidate with the backing of equally radical supporters — but the party establishment is terrified.

Why? Because unlike other Democrats, commie-Sanders has upended the party tradition of obscuring its radicalism until after the election. In short, commie-Sanders won’t make phony centrist appeals that conflict with his agenda just to win votes. He is, as they say, “all in.”

The Democrat establishment? It will go all out to stop him. “Hell hath no fury like commie-Bernie’s millennials if they are thwarted,” warns columnist Miranda Devine.

Thwarted? Betrayed is the far more likely scenario. And it won’t be even slightly coincidental.   ~The Patriot Post
