MLK's Dream Realized.

4063532071?profile=originalWe just returned back home to Florida from my wife Mary's family reunion in Maryland. Mary and I are an interracial couple. Before consenting to attend, I asked my wife of 35 years, “Will there be anyone there who is going to give me a hard time?” Mary replied, “No, they're all dead.”

The reunion was wonderful, over one hundred in attendance. When God said be fruitful and multiply, Mary's family took God seriously. Kids were all over the place swimming, using the water slide, enjoying the feast of food and deserts and having a ball.

Cousin Jimmy started cooking the hog, head and all, on the grill at 3am. The pork was cooked to perfection. Add a little of his favorite barbecue sauce and you are in heaven. I do regret allowing Jimmy to talk me into tasting the hog's snout. For the sake of my stomach, I must change the subject.

4063532096?profile=originalAunt Carol is the family historian. She and her sister, Mary's mom, Eleanor traced their family tree back to 1625. Aunt Carol's brief report was fascinating.

Mary's sister Donna was reelected president of their family reunion. Donna announced big plans to have next year's 50th reunion catered at a resort. Everyone was excited.

Mary and I received the award for traveling the most distance.

The reunion included an auction. Melanie, Mary's sister was extremely entertaining playing auctioneer. Billy out-bid everyone to win a beautiful hand-carved bird for his mom, my Mary.

Everyone was warm and friendly. Mary's mom and dad were genuinely glad to see me. The younger family members were not taken back by me, a black member of the family. They simply did not care about my race.

While I was the only black at the reunion, I heard I am no longer the only black in the family.

It was a great day and I ate too much.

While in Maryland, I visited my family. My brother David has coached well-integrated youth football teams for many years. He has noticed that kids think very little about race. David said when we were kids there was black music and white music. Today, black and white kids basically listen to the same music.

A friend who works in shopping malls has witnessed an abundance of multiracial families. It appears Dr Martin Luther King's dream has come true. Blacks and whites are walking together in brotherhood.

So, who keeps stirring the waves of discontent, making “race” a big deal? Answer, the mainstream media, politicians seeking to exploit race to get-their-way and those seeking to get-paid. Disgusting!

  • Thanks for sharing, Lloyd, glad to hear you had a great time. (And now I'm hungry for smoked pig.)

  • That seems to fit my own impression of how racial matters stand in America these days. Only the politicians and race hustlers who use it to enhance their own power try to keep this fire burning.

  • Amen to that Lloyd. I wholeheartedly agree with your last statement. And so happy that you had a wonderful family reunion. God Bless!

  • Amen

  • I love unhyphenated Americans. The Lyoyd Marcus type is the leading character in my book, In Earth as It Is in Heaven 2012.

On Christmas Day 2011, the day we commemorate the birth of the Christ-child, I sent my title In Earth as It Is in Heaven 2012 to Amazon’s CreateSpace for editing and publication. I'm having a hard time editing it. New stuff keeps coming I want to include.

On Christmas Day, “Santa” (my wife Karen) gave me H. G. Wells: The Shape of Things to Come. This book, first published in England in 1933, was about our future in 150 years.

Wells and I are Virgo with Aquarius rising, allowing us to envision an uncertain future—“with as little giving as possible.”  The choice: “a string of accidents,” according to Wells, leading to one-world socialism, or my take, an individual in control of his life.

The future, as I view it, consists of the individual giving as little as possible. The least government, in my view, is the best government. Instead of powerful men governing us, I see self-governance taking control and the blame for failure the individual’s fault—the story of my life.

Wells begins with “Introduction: The Dream book of Dr. Phillip Raven...“How shall I put it,” Dr. Raven, “off and on—between sleeping and waking—I’ve been—in effect—reading a book. A non-existent book. A dream book if you like. It’s always the same book. Always. And it’s a history.”  That’s me.

Wells’ view is the proverbial self-fulfilling prophecy—the false definition of the situation evoking a new behavior which makes the false conception come true. My view is that the Constitution, as written, is the best choice. It follows the “Higher Law,” the law of all times. Instead of a government duty to the individual, I believe it should be ask not what your government can do for you; ask what you can do for your government.

First, cease placing new workers on the present withholding tax for Social Security and Medicare. Second, replace federal income tax with a tax on spending.

By eliminating the withholding tax, we allow entry-level workers to keep all of their earnings, thus making them independent. We allow employers the choice of raising wages or cutting prices on their goods and services. They would not be matching the withholding tax of said workers. It is a fair tax. To be fair, we should leave those already paying withholding tax government entitled, government entitlements to be phased out the same way they were phased in.  Replacing federal income tax with a tax on spending, first allowing a standard American living, would eliminate capital gains tax, corporate tax, the death tax, tax expenditures or deductions for this or that, redistribution of wealth, all of the excuses to control people, and depend on the economy instead of government manipulation to generate wealth. The economy is based on individual effort, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you—and give as little as possible to others. That’s asking the same of others as you demand of yourself.

The American people are waking up to the fact that the present “do good for all” system is fatally flawed. The choice: one-world socialism or individual control of your life, which worked for me. It can work for you.

  • THANK YOU Lloyd and ONE BIG AMEN TO THAT.  God Bless you and your family
