On April 22, in a special primary election in Southwest Florida, Republican voters selected Curt Clawson as their nominee for the June 24th special election for the United States Congress.  The campaign waged against Clawson had been perhaps among the most negative that the country has seen.  His business record was falsely portrayed, and a false innuendo of the most salacious and reprehensible association that could be imagined was given legs by a local media outlet and latched onto by his opponents.  

Despite the nature of the attacks (which during the campaign he handled with dignity and courage), Clawson's speech when the election returns confirmed his nomination was a model for bringing together, not just Southwest Florida, but for the nation.  Watch and share:

If you want to win people to  your point of view, it's usually a good idea to provide facts, make logical arguments and use common sense. Liberals are famous for doing the opposite.

It's unfortunate when someone from our side does the same thing. They fail to use good judgement--these are folks who put foot in mouth and then shoot the foot--

Unfortunately Joshua Black helps those making the argument that Tea party people are radicals. 

If he communicates in this fashion as a candidate, how will he behave in office. To me, he showed little common sense and allowed emotions to rule...he's a poor candidate.

If you want people to respect your opinions and comments, thinking before speaking or writing--engaging brain before tonque wags--is a good idea.

Police Officer arrested for wearing mask at Anti-Obamacare Rally – Photo Credit Flickr

Has America entered the new age when even the police are not safe from being suspect because they do not support Barack Obama as president?  This seems to be the case for a Florida police officer who was off duty and just happens to be black and attending an Anti-Obamacare rally, according to the Raw Story.

Police officer Ericson Harrell wore his Guy Fawkes’ mask proudly as a “symbol of protest.”  Yet as he stood at the rally exercising his First Amendment right of Freedom of Speech, a police officer approached him and begged to differ. She ordered Harrell to remove his mask and told him he was in violation of the law.

 

The law that the officer claimed Harrell was in violation of dates back to the 1950’s civil rights era when the Ku Klux Klan used their robes and hidden faces to intimidate minorities.  But Harrell tried to educate the officer that he and other were acting peacefully and was “just standing on the side of the road trying to express their first amendment rights.”

Despite the main stream media already calling the race in favor of his opponent Patrick Murphy, Allen West has said that he won't be conceding the race. The vote count has come in and while West is trailing by a mere 2,500 votes, he won't give up.

West campaign manager Tim Edson issued this statement Wednesday morning:

"This race is far from decided and there is no rush to declare an outcome.  Ensuring a fair and accurate counting of all ballots is of the utmost importance.  This race is far from decided and there is no rush to declare an outcome.  Ensuring a fair and accurate counting of all ballots is of the utmost importance.  There are still tens of thousands of absentee ballots to be counted in Palm Beach County and potential provisional ballots across the district.

Late last night Congressman West maintained a district-wide lead of nearly 2000 votes until the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections "recounted" thousands of early ballots.  Following that "recount" Congressman West trailed by 2,400 votes.   In addition, there were numerous other disturbing irregularities reported at polls across St. Lucie County including the doors to polling places being locked when the polls closed, in direct violation of Florida law, thereby preventing the public from witnessing the procedures used to tabulate results.  The St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections office clearly ignored proper rules and procedures, and the scene at the Supervisor's office last night could only be described as complete chaos.   Given the hostility and demonstrated incompetence of the St. Lucie County Supervisor of Elections, we believe it is critical that a full hand recount of the ballots take place in St. Lucie County.   We will continue to fight to ensure every vote is counted properly and fairly,  and accordingly will pursue all legal means necessary."

West will not back down in the face of pressure form the media or the Democrats.

Since the birth of the Tea Party, we have had great success if replacing liberal, establishment Republicans with Tea Party conservatives.  When Mike Lee defeated "Bailout Bob" Bennett, we sent a shot across the bow of the RINO Republicans.  

This year Richard Mourdock defeated 36 year incumbent Dick Lugar and soon, in Texas, Ted Cruz can send more shockwaves through the establishment by beating insider David Dewhurst in the Republican primary.  But those aren't the only battles.

In Florida, redistricting placed two incumbents John Mica and Tea Party freshman Sandy Adams in the same district.  Mica is a career politician who has now been caught with his hands in cookie jar.

Since his election to Congress 20 years ago, Mica has become a world traveler -- on the taxpayer dime.  

Adams estimates that Mica's trips to countries like Malaysia, Italy and France have cost taxpayers in excess of $4 million.  Adams spokesman Lisa Boothe said, "John Mica’s decision to put his international travel bucket list ahead of Central Florida taxpayers is appalling.  While Mica has been attempting to pull the wool over voters’ eyes by denying his long history of runaway spending and record-setting earmarks, his 20 years in Congress tell a different story.  On top of adding $10 trillion to our nation’s debt and requesting $4 billion in earmarks, Mica has been earning frequent flyer miles on the backs of hard-working Americans.  At a time when Central Florida families and small businesses are struggling to pay their bills, how can Mica justify jet setting on their dime to some of the world's most popular international travel destinations?”

Conservatives and Tea Party activists in Florida's 7th district have an easy choice to make this August 14th in the GOP primary.  They can continue the Tea Party revolution by going with Sandy Adams or they can reward a RINO for his earmarks, K-Street connections and extensive taxpayer travel.  The choice is ours.  

Has the Florida Department of Education lost all control over what is being taught and/or presented to our children? The ACLU continually screams for separation of church and state however when it comes to Islam there seems to be no boundaries in our schools.

On May 16 and 17 of 2012, Channel One Network, a national distributor of educational videos and newscasts was viewed daily by over 8,000 middle and high schools, aired a two-part video series, titled "Young and Muslim in America" and "Islam in America." 

Having watched both of these video’s I find they are NOT a History lesson or merely an explanation of what Muslim culture is but recruitment video’s. Presenting an idealized, whitewashed image of Islam and its followers, and showing how converting to Islam helps those who are lost and confused, emphasize’ s this programming is nothing short of a disguised recruitment video pushing a religion in a public school setting.

Our textbooks are filled with lies in regard to the status and importance of Islam over Judeo/Christian beliefs and distortions of the truth in regard to historical happenings. We have tried to get the various school districts to present to the classrooms addendums of the correct history but to deaf ears. 

Imam’s allowed to speak to our students without permission of the parents. Presenting recruiting video’s to our children without the permission.  Has the Florida State School Board and Commissioner of Education made a pack that “anything” goes when it comes to our schoolrooms?  You allow them to be taught with a faulty curriculum, non-factual textbooks, lower testing standards, throw in RTTT/CCS when we beg you to turn them down and to put the frosting on the cake you allow “UNSUPERVISED” International/Global/United Nations curriculums into our classrooms and “UNSUPERVISED” Charter Schools to include Gulen “Islamic” schools. 

If there was ever a strong case for changing the Florida Constitution to remove total control of the school district’s from the hands of each individual school district and to change back the office of the Commissioner of Education to an ELECTED office again I don’t know what is!

No wonder Florida is 48th in the country!  Our Education committee’s and school boards along with all the legislative Education committees are filled with NON-EDUCATOR’S and when we complain, again you smile and turn a deaf ear.

In "Young and Muslim in America: How being a part of Islam changed ten years ago, Part 1," students watch as Muhtasham Sifaat, 18, kneels on a prayer rug inside an empty classroom. His voiceover explains how he moved around a lot when he was younger, but Islam has given him stability. What is not revealed is that Mr. Sifaat is a political activist serving as a chapter president of the Muslim Students Association (MSA), one of the most radical Muslim Brotherhood front groups in America.

Kyle Smith, 22, gives an overview of the five pillars of Islam before the narrator explains:  Kyle, who's president of his university's Muslim Students Association, grew up in a Roman Catholic family, but converted to Islam three years ago after searching for meaning in his life (italics mine)...two of his friends led him to the religion.

Doesn't searching for meaning in life describe almost every American adolescent? Presenting an idealized, whitewashed image of Islam and its followers, and showing how converting to Islam helps those who are lost and confused, this programming is nothing short of a disguised recruitment video pushing a religion in a public school setting.

The airing of "Islam in America: How being Muslim has changed since 9/11, Part 2" on May 17 begins with a news update on the Trayvon Martin case, which deals with the alleged racial profiling of a black teenager. Coincidentally, the video that follows compares "Flying While Muslim" to "Driving While Black." Students learn about Amany Killawi,19, who struggles to board airplanes: Having to be checked at the airport a couple of times is definitely not comfortable, especially if you're Muslim. I often joke if you think driving while black is tough, try Muslim while flying. Because it's really, really tough.

Zana Lee, 14 and wearing hijab, is filmed walking into a store, stopping in front of a candy display, and subtly pointing to a bag of Skittles. Her voice-over:

I do think that Muslims are discriminated against here in America...sometimes it happens to me. Sometimes I could be shopping in the store, or just getting some candy from the corner store and I could just look up at the cashier and she can look at me in a certain way, and it just kinda hurts sometimes.

I believe the whole Education system of Florida needs to take a long hard look at the direction they are headed especially since their seems to be no oversight into what is being taught, recruited, used or spent when it comes to the “government” or “Charter” schools in this state.

Not only our students are failing but you as “leaders” have failed them!

It goes without saying, the November 2010 elections are critical. One of the races that has been exciting to watch is the battle between my hero, Marco Rubio, and the sleezy Charlie Crist. Crist had such a lead in the beginning, some 30 points, and he wallowed in it with his cocky I-can't-be-beat attitude. Now that the wheels have fallen off, we can see his true colors.
