From Colorado to Wisconsin -

It seems that, even when a school system can proclaim itself 'proud American' (Fort Collins HS in Colorado gave up the ghost of its denial of 'American Day' for the student body) the actions of another speak even louder:

Daisy Luther, Organic Prepper/The Daily Sheeple

The game is called “Cross the Line” and many outraged parents believe that it does just that.

A middle school in Marinette, Wisconsin got a group of 5th-8th graders together and organized a really fun game that asked students to step forward to answer “yes” to a series of highly personal questions. Questions like…

Do your parents drink?

Do you cut yourself?

Has anyone in your family been to jail?

Have you ever wanted to commit suicide?

Do you or your parents do drugs?

Unbelievably, school administrators believed that this “game” would help the kids to be better and kinder friends. “The intent of this activity was to build stronger, more respectful relationships among students,” said Principal Shawn Limberg. The “game” was part of an anti-bullying program.

Of course, Limberg also said the “game” was completely voluntary, an assertion that was disputed by one young girl who told her mother she’d have to go to in-school suspension if she didn’t participate.

Several parents voiced their concerns and had them brushed off. Amanda Fifarek, mother of a 7th grade student, told FOX 11, “They basically told us that all the students were lying…all the students got together and planned it out and if they weren’t lying, it was all misperceptions. They didn’t specifically say do your parents do drugs.”

Of course. We all know those silly children must have just misunderstood the whole thing.

Here’s the report from the local Fox station:

Cross the Line Game at Marinette Middle School

Reading between the lines, it doesn’t look as though Marinette Middle School was duly chastised. It sounds like they every intention of playing the “game” again. According to a Yahoo news report, ”Principal Limberg said they will let parents know the next time they plan on playing this game.”

  • I wonder how the teachers would feel if "their" kids were subjected to the same game by the parents of the students.

  • Kudos, A Benton Edmons II, you've drilled down well here. I concur, the thrust needs to be to the local, right down to personal choice for parents. When funding for education is brought down from 'on high' - yes, the fed - all nuances of what each child can learn become as ether, with no concentrated effort to school that individual. The curriculum, the scoring, the expectations of the kids is dumbed down to what we call 'outbased.' What a stupid term.

Then, we see the complaint level from the educators handling that, along with the volume of students to teach what edicts will be thought of as 'equal' education for all. You would think equal a commendable method, yet, all the machinations involved create a pathos, if you will, where teachers begin fighting back, saying this and that don't work, and can't we do our own methodology - which, IMO, is probably a better route by far, and can get back to more individualized schooling - and the system frays and breaks down.

THEN, the money directed 'from above,' becomes a non-issue, because no matter how much you throw at the problem, as in many other areas, the results never bear out.

Yes, government too involved everywhere. That's why other comments here are so valuable as well. People see there's too much control, even censorship from centralized government, and it remains a major issue in itself, and rightfully so. Those supporting unions and the governments that maintain their hold over our boards of education across this country need to be held accountable for this, and finally stand up for what's right for the tiny skulls full of mush - !

  • Jefferson believed neither government or religion should be in control of schooling kids as both have agendas they will push upon the untrained minds of youngsters.

We need the communities to take back schools.  Once, it was the community which hired a teacher; not a union, not government, not a political cadre.  We need to tear down the School districts (as they are political) and have each "School" serve a specific community.

If a community is a larger city, then all money raised to support those schools MUST be equally distributed and not giving special compensation to schools in rich neighborhoods or with a  "really great athletic team" as neither are acceptable reasons to give more to one than the other.

Education should be the most important aspect.  Not wealth, not sports, not academic grade point.  We want ALL schools to excel academically and the only way to do that is to make sure ALL schools in the same area are on equal footing when it comes to funding.

For all the other 'perks,' that particular school can run its own boosters, bake goods sales and other 'drives' to raise extra funds for sports and other activities which help students excel.  Just like it was done in the 40's and 50's.

The above story is when Government is too involved and trying to push its propaganda on our kids making them think this is normal behavior to report to the government so the government can control our lives even more than they do now.

  • SOunds like the SS.........boy are they teaching our kids to be good KGB agents!

  • Go ahead Walter, lol..........

  • "The School Administrators should really ask the children if their parents are Illegal aliens!" Good one, Paul Z.! And ya know, maybe...ah, never mind - ! :D

  • "...parents need to take back the schools for their kids." Well said, al pambuena. I agree with the experience you shared AND your assessment. We need to go local and with each other, that is the grassroot of any change in our communities. Alaska has just opened itself up for a states' convention - we, of course, need this across this great land.

  • A great soliloquy there, Frank W Brown! Yeah, it definitely bears repeating, "A Country Founded by Geniuses but Run by Idiots!" It shall be fun to make this go viral, for sure - thank for that.

Yes, God Bless America. And, as many others say, Bless God, America.
