{ thefederalist.com } ~ Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions officially entered the race to reclaim his old Alabama Senate seat Thursday, releasing a new ad endorsing his former boss who fired him last November:.. President Donald Trump.In the 30-second ad, Sessions noted the fact that he has refrained from criticizing the president as others have after leaving the administration. “When I left President Trump’s cabinet, did I write a tell-all book? No. Did I go on CNN and attack the president? Nope,” Sessions says in the opening of the segment. “Have I said a cross word about our president? Not one time.” Sessions argued that it would have been “dishonorable” to do so, adding that he fully backs the president despite being ousted in the administration following escalating tensions between the two throughout Sessions’ tenure leading the Justice Department. Sessions served 20 years in the Senate before leaving in 2017 to serve as the attorney general, only to be fired two years later, a day after the 2018 midterms. The president was upset when Sessions recused himself from anything related to the Russia investigation where Trump was wrongly accused of being a Russian agent. The seat eventually flipped to the Democrats after Sessions’ successor, Luther Strange, lost a Republican primary to former right-wing State Judge Roy Moore. Former U.S. attorney and Democratic nominee Doug Jones ultimately defeated Moore in the special election. Now, Sessions is joining a crowded field of candidates to reclaim his old seat, including Moore, Rep. Bradley Byrne, Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, and Auburn University football coach Tommy Tuberville. While tensions between Sessions and Trump likely remain high, it would have been unwise for Sessions to buck the president in Alabama, where Trump remains popular with a 59 percent approval rating in the state, the highest net approval rating for the president of any state in the union at the time of the poll’s release in October. Sessions was the first U.S. senator to endorse Trump in the 2016 election cycle...

The Democrats and CAIR

{ americanthinker.com } ~ In 2018, Democratic lawmakers and a few Republicans openly supported the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), congratulating the organization on its 24th year of operation...   Furthermore, sixteen likely Democrat presidential candidates are endorsing CAIR. For instance, "Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren sent in a video message threatening to cut off aid to Israel unless it surrenders to Islamic terrorists. Then she promised to divide Jerusalem, turning half the ancient holy city into a killing ground for the murderous terrorists already occupying Gaza and portions of the West Bank." Thus, the majority of the 2020 Democrat presidential field have aligned with CAIR, an anti-American and anti-Israel organization. Moreover, it is now patently clear that the "Democratic party's celebration of Linda Sarsour… exposes the poison" that has enveloped the party.  Consequently, there are representatives of the United States Congress who are openly applauding an "entity of the Muslim Brotherhood linked to pro-Hamas operations in the U.S."  From its inception, CAIR has sought to "portray itself as a moderate, mainstream organization," but nothing could be farther from the truth. Instead it "promotes a radical Islamic vision demonstrated by its co-founder Omar Ahmad" who has said Islam 'isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran… should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth.' In a similar spirit, co-founder Ibrahim Hooper told a reporter in 1993: 'I wouldn’t want to create the impression that I wouldn’t like the government of the United States to be Islamic sometime in the future.' In 2003 Hooper stated that if Muslims ever become a majority in the United States, they will likely seek to replace the U.S. Constitution with Islamic law, which they deem superior to man-made law. Ihsan Bagby, a former board member of CAIR, believes that Muslims “can never be full citizens of America... because there  is no way we can be fully committed to the institutions and ideologies of this country.” Islamic supremacism as espoused by this group is taught in many American mosques which teach hatred of Jews and Christians. In fact, "Tashbih Sayyed of the Council for Democracy and Tolerance (CDT) called CAIR 'the most accomplished fifth column' in the United States since its desire is to  '...spread Islamic hegemony the world over by hook or by crook.'" How Russia could force 

a nuclear war in the Baltics

{ aei.org } ~ Would the US fight a nuclear war to save Estonia? The question would probably strike most Americans as absurd... Certainly, almost no one was thinking about such a prospect when NATO expanded to include the Baltic states back in 2004. Yet a series  of reports by the nonpartisan RAND Corporation shows that the possibility of nuclear escalation in a conflict between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Russia over the Baltic region is higher than one might imagine. The best way of averting it? Invest more in the alliance’s conventional defense. There was a time when it seemed quite normal to risk nuclear war over the sanctity of European frontiers. During the Cold War, NATO was outnumbered by Warsaw Pact forces, and it would have had great difficulty stopping a Soviet attack with conventional weapons. From the moment it was formed, NATO relied on the threat of nuclear escalation — whether rapid and spasmodic, or gradual and controlled — to maintain deterrence. American thinkers developed elaborate models and theories of deterrence. US and NATO forces regularly carried out exercises simulating the resort to nuclear weapons to make this strategy credible. After the Cold War ended, the US and its allies had the luxury of thinking less about nuclear deterrence and war-fighting. Tensions with Russia receded and nuclear strategy came to seem like a relic of a bygone era. Yet today, with Russia rising again as a military threat, the grim logic of nuclear statecraft is returning. The spike in tensions between Russia and the West over the past half-decade has revealed a basic problem: NATO doesn’t have the capability to prevent Russian forces from quickly overrunning Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Russian invaders would be at the gates of the Baltic capitals in two to three days; existing NATO forces in the region would be destroyed or swept aside. NATO could respond by mobilizing for a longer war to liberate the Baltic countries, but this would require a bloody, dangerous military campaign. Critically, that campaign would require striking targets — such as air defense systems — located within Russia itself, as well as suppressing Russian artillery, short-range missiles and other capabilities within the Kaliningrad enclave, which is situated behind NATO’s front lines. Moreover, this sort of NATO counteroffensive is precisely the situation Russian nuclear doctrine seems meant to avert. Russian officials understand that their country would lose a long war against NATO. They are particularly alarmed at the possibility of NATO using its unmatched military capabilities to conduct conventional strikes within Russian borders. So the Kremlin has signaled that it might carry out limited nuclear strikes — perhaps a “demonstration strike” somewhere in the Atlantic, or against NATO forces in the theater — to force the alliance to make peace on Moscow’s terms. This  concept is known as “escalate to de-escalate,” and there is a growing body of evidence that the Russians are serious about it...

Contain Errors, Potential Fraud

{ freebeacon.com } ~ An election integrity watchdog has found 24,000 instances of irregularities among the voter rolls in Palm Beach County, Fla., according to a new report... The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), a group that litigates to protect election integrity, discovered double voting by the same registrants, double registrants across state lines, deceased voters on rolls, and apparent noncitizens previously registered to vote in Palm Beach County following a three-month investigation involving office visits, records inspections, and voter roll audits. The findings raise concerns in the swing state one year out from the 2020 elections. It was Florida's election results that sent the 2000 presidential race between George W. Bush and scumbag-Al Gore to the Supreme Court. Palm Beach County itself faced massive criticism as recently as the 2018 midterm elections when it could not finish three state-mandated recounts by imposed deadlines. The events led to the county's supervisor of elections, Susan Bucher, being ousted from her position and the implementation of a $15 million voting overhaul. "Concerns ranged from apparent clerical errors memorialized in voter records to evidence of dead and double voting," PILF's report states. "Seemingly unlawful claims of business and government addresses were also found used as residential ones. Some individuals unwillingly or otherwise even demonstrated an ability to register multiple times under the same name, address, and date of birth thanks to human or computer system errors between the county elections office and Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles personnel. Perhaps most alarming of all, apparent noncitizens were documented registering to vote in Palm Beach County—sometimes while admitting their immigration status on voter applications." Congress Seeks to Sanction Officials From 

Countries Holding Americans Hostage

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Congress is considering new legislation that would require President Donald Trump to sanction any foreign government official involved in holding Americans hostage... a move that would prevent these foreigners and their family members from obtaining U.S. visas, according to congressional sources working on the bill. Sens. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) and Ted Cruz (R., Tex.) are spearheading the new legislation, which they say will apply needed pressure on any foreign government complicit in the taking of American hostages. A key mechanism in the legislation would ensure that foreign officials involved in hostage taking and their families do not enter the United States. Many foreign officials and their family members from Iran, China, and other rogue nations routinely travel to the United States for lavish holidays and education at U.S. colleges. The lawmakers are seeking to crack down on this behavior. Cruz recently found himself at the center of a diplomatic standoff with Tehran after it banned him and prominent Trump administration officials from traveling to Iran. Cruz, at the time, proposed legislation to reciprocate the ban, saying that the family members of prominent Iranian regime figures should not reap the benefits of the American education system. Cotton and Cruz are frustrated by what they see as foreign officials from rogue regimes taking advantage of American opportunities while U.S. citizens languish in captivity...

Calif. Taxpayers on Hook for 

Six-Figure Government Pensions

{ freebeacon.com  } ~ Nearly 80,000 Californians collected six-figure taxpayer-funded pensions in 2018... as retirement costs leave half the state's cities at "high risk" of serious financial distress, according to an analysis. Transparent California, a free-market think tank, found that 6 percent of retired government workers collected more than $100,000 in 2018, an 85 percent jump since 2013. Those payouts represented 20 percent of the $51.7 billion in total pension payments. Taxpayers spent a record-high $40 billion to cover the costs of public sector retirees in 2018, the report also found. The median household income in California is $75,277. The six-figure payouts propel thousands of retirees into the top 38 percent of all earners in the state, according to census data. About 1.2 million people received pension checks in 2018, including a retired deputy police chief who collected  nearly $1.5 million in 2018. The increasing costs could push residents to a "breaking point," according to Robert Fellner, executive director of Transparent California. Local and state government agencies will have to raise taxes to cover costs or cut public services to pay people who are no longer working. "You keep raising your sales tax to fund pensions, you are obviously pushing residents to a breaking point," Fellner told the Washington Free Beacon. "The public services speaks for itself. You see the homelessness and stuff going on, and it's a really bad situation."...

Trump Defends Religious Liberty

The Trump administration announced Friday afternoon that it was rolling back an scumbag/liar-nObama-era regulation that tied the hands of faith-based organizations involved in adoptions and foster care efforts.

In recent years, conservatives have grown increasingly alarmed as Catholic Charities and similar groups have closed their doors as various left-wing states and cities have forced them to choose between their values and their desire to serve their communities.

The Department of Health and Human Services announced last week that it would no longer enforce the scumbag/liar-nObama regulation that expanded nondiscrimination protections beyond existing law and Supreme Court rulings. 

In a statement, HHS declared that it would “require grantees to comply with applicable nondiscrimination provisions passed by Congress … including legislation ensuring the protection of religious liberty, and … all applicable Supreme Court decisions." 

In other words, organizations that receive federal grants only have to comply with provisions that are part of existing federal law, not provisions that the scumbag/liar-nObama administration and its left-wing allies created on their way out the door in 2016.

The new Trump regulation will prevent government bureaucrats from discriminating against faith-based organizations that believe children deserve mothers and fathers. 

Once again, the Trump/Pence team has demonstrated its commitment to the rule of law and to religious liberty.

A Partisan Abuse of Power

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz is a self-identified liberal Democrat. He voted for scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton in 2016. He defended scumbag/liar-Bill Clinton against impeachment in 1998. And he’s adamantly opposed to what Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats are doing today in their attempt to impeach President Trump.

In his latest opinion piece, Dershowitz warns that the current impeachment effort is a raw partisan power grab, exactly what our founders like Alexander Hamilton feared most. Consider this excerpt:

Hamilton warned of the "greatest danger” that the decision to move forward with impeachment will “be regulated more by the comparative strength of parties than the real demonstrations of innocence or guilt.”

Meanwhile, former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy suggests that opponents of impeachment need to move beyond process arguments and start making the case for why Trump’s call with Ukraine’s president is not an impeachable offense. President Trump did nothing wrong. 

As we have repeatedly noted, there is significant evidence of foreign involvement in the 2016 election, including between elements of our Deep State and the security agencies of other countries. That’s what U.S. Attorney John Durham is investigating. 

We know that elements of the Ukrainian government played a major role in all of this. We know that former Vice President loose lips liar-Joe Biden was assigned responsibility for managing Ukrainian foreign policy. We know there are issues of corruption involving his son. We know loose lips liar-Biden had his own quid pro quo with Ukraine, demanding the firing of a top prosecutor. 

The left-wing media desperately doesn’t want any of this to get traction.

The Left’s Agenda

Montgomery County, Maryland, is all in on the left’s agenda, including the anti-police mentality that dominates the left. Here’s the latest example.

James Shelton and his young son created a wooden Blue Line flag to honor Montgomery County police officers on National First Responders Day. The officers expressed their appreciation to Mr. Shelton and his son, and said that the wooden flag would be displayed in their station. 

Opponents of the flag claim that it has been appropriated by white nationalists and is racist. Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich branded the Blue Line flag “divisive” and “a symbol of dismissiveness” and ordered police not to display the flag.

Montgomery County, Maryland, has always been liberal. But this shows just how extreme it has become. One of the left’s favorite chants in recent years is, “Cops and the Klan go hand in hand.” It’s disgusting and absurd, especially when today’s police force is the most racially diverse in the history of our country.

But once again, we see how the left is taking normal conservative impulses, like support for law enforcement, and equating it with racism. Now that’s divisive!

The reason I bring this up is because it shows what happens when the left is totally in control. An act of kindness by a young boy for the police gets twisted by woke progressives who just can’t tolerate it. 

By the way, Montgomery County is a sanctuary county where at least nine illegal immigrants, who should have been deported, have been arrested on charges of rape and sexual assault.

In New York City, also dominated by the left, there was a mini riot this weekend that was triggered in part by police officers enforcing subway fares. Fare evasions and crime are so prevalent that city officials recently announced the deployment of an additional 500 officers. 

The city is losing hundreds of millions of dollars because some people think they have a right to ride the subway for free. Evidently, Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agrees with them. 

Everyone knows what a failure San Francisco is when it comes to homelessness and illegal immigration. Well, Austin, Texas, has swung hard left in recent years. So, where does the mayor of Austin go to get advice on homelessness? California!

Guess what? Austin now has a huge problem with homelessness. Gov. Greg Abbott is stepping in and sending state officials to clear out Austin’s homeless encampments.

Speaking of California, many in the Golden State are seriously reconsidering an effort to relax enforcement of minor property crimes. The liberal experiment, backed by the ACLU and other progressive groups, had predictable results: Shoplifting, vandalism, and other property crimes have skyrocketed in recent years.

My friends, we don’t have to guess at what the country will be like if the left takes back the White House and the Senate next year. From Montgomery County, Maryland, to Austin, Texas, from New York to San Francisco, there are plenty of case studies warning us against the left’s agenda. 

Pray for Persecuted Church

Sunday, Christians around the world came together in spirit for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church. This annual event is observed every year on the first Sunday of November. The sad reality is that nearly 250 million Christians around the world face high levels of persecution simply for their faith. 

As you know, President Trump appointed me to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. The commission monitors religious persecution against any group anywhere in the world. But let me be clear: The evidence is overwhelming that no group suffers more persecution that Christians. 

From China to Nigeria, Syria to North Korea, Christians suffer unbelievable pain and penalties. All too often it is ignored by international organizations and the news media.

The Pew Research Center reports that Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the entire world. According to Open Doors just in the past year alone:

• More than 4,300 Christians were killed for their faith.

• More than 1,800 churches were attacked.

• More 3,100 Christians were imprisoned for following Jesus.

As men and women of faith, we are not powerless. Please pray that God would comfort those who are suffering. Pray that Christians facing persecution would remain strong in their faith. Pray that their witness would inspire others.

If your church did not recognize the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, please urge your pastor to address this urgent issue from the pulpit soon, and to mark it on the calendar for next year.
