{ freebeacon.com } ~ The Trump administration has again renewed key sanctions waivers permitting Iran to conduct sensitive nuclear work... generating anger among GOP hawks who have long called for the administration to quit giving Tehran a pass on its pursuit of an atomic weapon.  Multiple lawmakers and former administration officials, including one recently departed National Security Council member who worked on Iran issues, told the Washington Free Beacon that senior officials in the administration continue to undermine President Donald Trump's "maximum pressure" campaign on Iran. At issue are sanctions exceptions that the State Department has now issued several times in recent years to the consternation of Iran hawks. The waivers permit foreign nations and businesses to partner with Iran on its nuclear work, including efforts to enrich uranium, the key component in a weapon. They also allow Iran to continue sensitive civil nuclear research at contested sites, including a covert military bunker that once housed the country's atomic weapons program. The nuclear waivers have been a key point of disagreement, both inside and outside the administration. Some of Trump's most vocal backers are now breaking ranks with the administration to express opposition to the decision. Debate over the nuclear waivers has percolated inside the administration and Congress for months. Multiple sources who spoke to the Free Beacon accused a cadre of officials in both the State and Treasury Departments of seeking to ensure that vital components of the abandoned nuclear deal remain in place against Trump's orders. "You cannot underestimate the influence of the ‘Deep State' on issues like the nuclear waivers and snapback," said Richard Goldberg, who served as the White House NSC's top Iran proliferation official until January. "Any time there's something controversial, something that upends conventional wisdom, something that would actually kill scumbag/liar-nObama's Iran Deal, there's a bureaucratic movement to save the deal."...   https://freebeacon.com/national-security/trump-admin-again-grants-iran-pass-to-conduct-nuclear-work-angering-gop-hawks/?utm_source=actengage&utm_campaign=FreedomMail&utm_medium=email
Trump Middle East Plan:
Last Chance for the Palestinians?

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ President Donald Trump just unveiled his long-awaited Middle East peace plan, "Peace to Prosperity", a strategy offering the Palestinians a state, $50 billion in international investment, and a US embassy in the newly-created state... This is a major step forward that the Palestinian Authority would be smart to accept as a starting point for discussions with Israel. President Trump made an appeal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas: "President Abbas, I want you to know that if you choose the path to peace, America and many other countries will be there. We will be there to help you in so many different ways... Your response to this historic opportunity will show the world to what extent you are ready to lead the Palestinian people to statehood... Today's agreement is a historic opportunity for the Palestinians to finally achieve an independent state of their very own. After 70 years of little progress, this could be the last opportunity they will ever have." But it is Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump's son-in-law, who oversaw the plan, which probably best describes the Palestinian mood: "It's a big opportunity for the Palestinians... they have a perfect track record of blowing every opportunity they've had in their past." He urged Palestinian leaders to "stop posturing" and accept the plan. Yet, most probably, the Palestinian leadership will prefer "posturing" and reject concrete steps forward in order to keep pursuing unrealistic demands such as the "right of return," which is at the heart of the failures of past plans. Everyone knows that the right of return for the descendants of Palestinians who left their homes in 1948 would mean the end of a Jewish state, which, of course, no Jewish party could ever accept. Maintaining the fiction that the descendants of the 1948 exiles are refugees is at the heart of the Palestinian identity and struggle. No Palestinian leader wants to give it up even though they know that this argument is far from the reality on the ground. Recognizing as "refugees" fourth-generation Palestinians living in crushing poverty in "refugee camps" that have since long become cities, while neither their parents nor often their grandparents have known the beaches of Jaffa or Haifa is pure nonsense. By supporting a specialized agency of the United Nations, UNRWA, which indirectly finances and legitimizes Hamas in Gaza, European countries  and others have fostered the illusion of this right of return...   https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/15503/trump-middle-east-palestinians

{ foxnews.com } ~ Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., announced late Thursday night that he would not support additional witnesses in President Trump's "shallow... hurried and wholly partisan" Senate impeachment trial, seemingly ending Democrats' hopes of hearing testimony from former national security adviser John Bolton and paving the way for the president's imminent acquittal as soon as Friday night. "If this shallow, hurried and wholly partisan impeachment were to succeed, it would rip the country apart, pouring gasoline on the fire of cultural divisions that already exist," Alexander said. "It would create the weapon of perpetual impeachment to be used against future presidents whenever the House of Representatives is of a different political party." He added: “The framers believed that there should never, ever be a partisan impeachment. That is why the Constitution requires a 2/3 vote of the Senate for conviction. Yet not one House Republican voted for these articles." On Tuesday, Trump is set to address Congress for the annual State of the Union address, which is increasingly likely to resemble a victory lap following months of quixotic Democratic calls for the president's removal from office. However, overnight, multiple congressional sources told Fox News that Senate Minority Leader Chuck scumbag-Schumer, D-N.Y., could seek to have the trial spill over into next week -- past the State of the Union address and the Iowa caucuses --  by introducing a series of motions and calling for more debate. “The Senate can only move as fast as its slowest member," one source. Asked when the trial would end, another replied, “when everyone is exhausted.” On Friday, Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyoming,  told Fox News the Democrats "could throw a few Hail Marys” to drag the proceedings out, but it wouldn't change the outcome...  https://www.foxnews.com/politics/senate-republicans-do-or-die-moment-pivotal-vote-impeachment-vote

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ There were four key republican quisling senators who were possibilities on voting to continue the Senate impeachment trial and ask for witnesses... rino-Susan Collins, rino-Mitt Romney, rino-Lisa Murkowski and Lamar Alexander. This tentatively puts the current whip vote for possible witnesses at 49 yea and 5o nea – with one undecided. A 50/50 split should fail in the Senate but there will be massive narrative manipulation of the rules by MSM. We won’t know until actual votes on a motion to hear from witnesses are cast. However, that said, rino-Collins decision has almost guaranteed a loss for her Senate seat. In response to this vote the MAGA base will likely not support her. Therefore it’s a gift to her opponent. An unfortunate 2020 Senate seat loss for the GOP...rino-Murkowski says No.

Carter Page Sues DNC Over Steele Dossier

{ dailycaller.com } ~ Former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page filed a lawsuit Thursday against the Democratic National Committee and the law firm that commissioned the infamous Steele dossier... and his lawyer suggests there is more litigation to come. In the lawsuit, Page accuses the DNC and its law firm, Perkins Coie, of disseminating “falsehoods” in the dossier through the media, leading to death threats and a loss of income for the former Trump aide. “The Defendants are private actors who used false information, misrepresentations and other misconduct to direct the power of the international intelligence apparatus and the media industry against a private individual, Plaintiff Carter Page, to further their political agenda,” Page’s lawyers said in the 23-page lawsuit, filed in federal court in Chicago. Page has sued the DNC and media outlets that published information in the dossier before, but those complaints were tossed out of court. The latest lawsuit is the first Page has filed through a legal team. He is represented by the firms Pierce Bainbridge Beck Price & Hecht and Rathje Woodward, out of Chicago. The suit is also Page’s first since the release of a Justice Department inspector general’s (IG) report which undermined the credibility of the dossier, which the FBI cited extensively in applications for Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) orders against Page. John Pierce, one of Page’s lawyers, suggested that more lawsuits are in the cards based on the IG’s findings.  “This is a first step to ensure that the full extent of the FISA abuse that has occurred during the last few years is exposed and remedied,” Pierce told Fox News.  “This is only the first salvo.”...  https://dailycaller.com/2020/01/30/carter-page-sues-dnc-steele-dossier/?utm_source=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=11807
CAIR’s Fight To Undermine
U.S. Border Security Continues

{ dailywire.com  } ~ In its latest annual hate crimes report, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) vilified U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials as the nation’s greatest perpetrators of anti-Muslim discrimination... So, when as many as 60 Iranian and Iranian-American travelers were delayed for hours earlier this month at the U.S.-Canada border, CAIR was quick to accuse the federal agency of living up to its purported reputation. Has the U.S. government decided to make life difficult for Iranians living in America, as CAIR contends? Or are the nonprofit’s actions part of an enduring campaign to subvert U.S. border security?  In response to a January 2 air strike which killed Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)  published a bulletin warning that Hezbollah and other Iranian loyalists could carry out homeland-based plots by targeting “critical infrastructure.” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo deployed the national guard to protect public transportation, while government officials in California, Washington, and Massachusetts ordered increased police patrols or warned citizens to remain extra vigilant. Meanwhile, the Peace Arch Border Crossing in Blaine, Washington became congested on January 4 after as many as 60 Iranian natives were allegedly selected for additional screening and detained, in some cases, for several hours. The travelers, who were returning from a pop concert in Vancouver, put a strain on CBP resources as customs agents struggled to keep up with the sudden increase in cross-border traffic. However, CAIR officials explicitly alleged that delays and mistreatment were premised solely on national heritage. Soon after, CAIR’s Washington chapter issued a press release accusing CBP officials of treating Iranians and Iranian-Americans to prolonged interrogations at the U.S.–Canada border. “A source at CBP reported that the DHS has issued a national order to CBP to ‘report’ and detain anyone with Iranian heritage entering the country who is deemed potentially suspicious or ‘adversarial,’ regardless of citizenship status,” CAIR wrote... As I have said before CAIR needs to be removed from the USA.  https://www.dailywire.com/news/firester-cairs-fight-to-undermine-u-s-border-security-continues

Impeachment Trial Day 7: 'Trust the American People'

Thomas Gallatin:  On Tuesday, President Donald Trump’s defense team finished up its last day of arguments against impeachment by urging senators to “trust the American people” to decide the fate of the president. “You know what the right answer is in your heart,” White House Counsel Pat Cipollone stated. “The election is only months away. The American people are entitled to choose their president. It is time for this to end, here and now.” It was a stark and powerful contrast to Rep. scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff’s elitist assertion that the American people cannot be trusted to vote the right way.

It was a good move and a powerful way to sum up what this impeachment trial has really been all about: Democrats impeaching the vote of the American people. However, it doesn’t look like Trump will get an acquittal vote without witnesses being called.

While Trump’s defense team appealed to the Senate to end the Democrats’ partisan trial with a quick vote to acquit, it’s looking more likely that at the very least John Bolton will be called as a witness. In a Tuesday evening meeting with Republicans, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that he didn’t have the votes needed to block witnesses or document requests. It’s a recognization that at least four Republican senators want to hear from Bolton, and a further admission that not calling witnesses will play into Senate Minority Leader Chuck scumbag-Schumer’s twisted narrative that Republicans aren’t interested in the truth, just in covering for Trump.

If calling witnesses is a forgone conclusion, what options does the GOP have to prevent the Democrats from drawing this charade out ad nauseam? First, simply vote to call Bolton and only Bolton. Democrats would immediately wail for adding Mick Mulvaney, but McConnell might have the votes to turn that demand aside.

Otherwise, McConnell could also put forward a list of witnesses that Republicans have long been calling for, including the loose lips liar-Bidens and the whistleblower, as part of a take-it-or-leave-it package deal. That would effectively put the pressure back on the Democrats to argue against certain witnesses. Of course, if scumbag-Schumer and company agreed to this deal, then McConnell would need Trump to agree to not invoke executive privilege, as that would only complicate matters for Republicans, delaying the process and playing into the Democrats’ “cover-up” narrative.

The key for McConnell and Republicans is to prevent Democrats from dictating or dragging out this process. The probability that Bolton will present any new or damning information is low, no matter how the Democrats and their media spin machine may claim, and it might even play in Trump’s favor. Wrangling over witnesses will play out over the next couple of days, with key votes later in the week.   ~The Patriot Post
