A Day of Unintended Consequences

An emailed question today, “How well do you know your Constitution?” prompted this blog. President Obama’s gaffe, “you are being helped,” in other words, you can’t make it on your own, has not helped his reelection as far as the taxpayers are concerned, but half of the American people depend on government help.  As a result, taxpayers are paying for only sixty percent of the cost of government. The consequence, as of now, is a national debt that can never be paid, and it grows worse by the day.

I’m a disabled World War II veteran. I’m unemployable, due to a war-related injury, and receiving 100 percent disability pay. Add mine and my wife’s Social Security pay, plus free health care for both of us, free prescription drugs for both of us, and no tax on our income, we are living well. Is this the reason for my World War II experience?

Our present financial circumstance was not always the case.  After fighting for America’s freedom, as an entry-level worker, with no dependents, and no other deductions, after government took its cut of my minimum pay, my take-home pay would not allow me to pay my rent. I was locked out.  Thanks for nothing!  This was the result of Roosevelt's depression.

When I was age 48, and self-employed in the lumber business, double digit inflation stopped home building.  Government created inflation put me out of business. In order to pay living costs, I was forced to sell land. I sold  land at double my cost. The money I received would buy half as much. I made no gain, but government called it gain and taxed me in a year that I had zero income, at the same time allowing for cost of living increase to the government entitled.

I worked hard to survive.  In the end, government took my existence in tax and handed it out to the government entitled. Now I’m entitled, gone from ripped off taxpayer to depending on government.  President Obama was lying when he said someone helped me, meaning government. His plan didn’t work.

Speaking of the Constitution—my “inalienable rights”—in Morrison v. State, the court held that inalienable rights—which are not capable of being surrendered or transferred without the consent of one person to another—what are they and where are they? The right to property is called allodial when it is not Holden to any superior; when it is owned without obligation. What property is allodial in America?  Legal property is that which is “peculiar or proper to any person.” Fulton Light, Heat & Power Co. v State.

Legal is the form of law, and distinguished from lawful in that lawful contemplates the substance of law.  “Lawful fraud” would be a contradiction of terms. In that legal is the antitheses of equitable, “legal fraud” would be the construction of law that is not equitable. To be lawful, the law must conform to certain principles of justice and natural rights.  Therefore, a government entitlement, taking the property of one person and giving it to another, by law, does not conform to the principles of justice and natural law. For if such were the case, by majority vote robbery and murder would be lawful. Nazi law would be lawful. Sharia law would be lawful. The individual would be owned by the state. It leaves government entitlement hanging from a sky hook—from thin air—legal but lawless. Those dependent on government, or looking forward to the day, are asleep at the switch.  You can’t do away with natural law for long. History proves that.

In 1965, I built my home on land I owned in Flower Mound, Texas. Keeping in mind that you didn’t do it all by your lonesome, one mile east of my spread was the Marcus ranch, owned by the chairman of the board of Neiman Marcus.  Flower Mound was an incorporated rural community 25 miles northwest of Dallas, 38 square miles splitting equally the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex.

Edward Marcos and associates planned to make Flower Mound a New Town, a preplanned city from scratch. The idea was to create a desirable place to live for all income levels. Nobody was to live on the “wrong side of the tracks.” The city’s hub would be commercial and industrial. This was to prevent rural communities like Flower Mound from becoming bedroom communities of the metroplex. The federal government was involved.  HUD was to provide the money for the most advanced sewage disposal plant in the world.

Columbus, Maryland and Reston, Virginia are two examples of highly successful new towns.

Marcus and associates were dubbed as “city slickers” out to make a fast buck.  The so-called “old settlers” of Flower Mound, the news media, and county officials banded together. They replaced the elected city government with an appointed city government, unconstitutionally, and shut down Flower Mound New Town.  The will of the people caused Flower Mound to become a bedroom community of the Dallas-Ft.Worth metroplex with a population today of over 200,000.

When the law is nowhere to be seen, it is every man for himself.  No President Obama, you are dead wrong.  You are no help at all. Without the rich and successful to lead the way, America will not survive.

  • The Constitution, as I understand it, does not guarantee EQUALITY, it guarantees EQUALITY OF OPPORTUNITY!  This business of EQUALITY is the doing of the socialists who are determined ultimately to turn the U.S into a communist country.  They believe that they can succeed where other communist countries have failed and are now failing (watch what happens to China in the next 10 years).  Americans are asleep at the Wheel of Freedom.  WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!
