First Government Owned Gas Station

Somerset's city-owned gas station opens to public

A southern Kentucky city is venturing into the retail gas business by opening a municipal-run filling station.

SOMERSET, Ky. — Somerset’s City Hall ventured into the retail gas business Saturday, opening a municipal-run filling station that supporters call a benefit for motorists and critics denounce as a taxpayer-supported swipe at the free market.

POLL: If the Republicans take the Senate in November, will that solve the problems in Washington DC?

The Somerset Fuel Center opened to the public selling regular unleaded gas for $3.36 a gallon, a bit lower than some nearby competitors. In the first three hours, about 75 customers fueled up at the no-frills stations, where there are no snacks, no repairs, and only regular unleaded gas.

The mayor says the station was created in response to years of grumbling by residents about stubbornly high gas prices in Somerset, a city of about 11,000 near Lake Cumberland, a popular fishing and boating haven.

The venture got a thumbs-up from customers who let their vehicles reach near-empty in anticipation of the city-run station’s opening.

RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS-Regime gone Rogue -

As many of the readers of this blog know, Diane Sori of The Patriot Factor and I are partners on RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS, our radio show on CPR Worldwide Media and a few months ago, between our two blogs and our show, we exposed the truth regarding Benghazi.

Since then, RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS and CPR have been targeted by the Obama regime. Repeated attempts have been made to knock of off the air with cyber attacks coming from the east coast to the west coast…the middle of a farm field in Kansas and even from a point 420 miles due west of the coast of Spain in the Atlantic Ocean.

The CEO of CPR has had his tires slashed and his vehicle further vandalized and a note left on it warning our CEO, Michael Collins-Windsor to “stop the investigative reports or next time it won’t just be your tires getting slashed.”

The surveillance tapes from that event were taken from local law enforcement by two FBI agents days later.

The owner of the company that licenses CPR for the ability to legally play music had two FBI agents show up at his HOME at 8:30pm on a Saturday ordering HIM to PULL THE STREAMING LICENSE in an attempt to close CPR down. He was reportedly threatened, told to shut the ‘F’ up and do what he was told or he would lose his business.

That, by the way, was NOT the only time he was told by the FBI to shut CPR down.

It was at that point that both Diane and I were labeled by that particular duo of being “potential threats to national security.”

Two FBI agents then showed up at Collins-Windsor’s bank demanding his records but were turned away as they did NOT have any court order to take those records.

Two men showed up one day at Collins-Windsor’s office where they took photos of the building.

Are you starting to get the picture here?

As the cyber attacks continued against RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS and CPR, we, Diane and myself, continued to expose the Obama regime…on government land grabs and on the IRS targeting scandal both in our blogs and on our radio show.

Thursday July 10th, things came to a head and what follows is a MOST disturbing portrait of a ‘presidential’ regime gone rogue.

I was beginning to write my usual Friday Fume, seen here every Friday in The National Patriot when I was contacted by Michael Collins-Windsor. He informed me he was “fixin’ to be arrested” and his response to my question of “why” was jaw dropping.

Michael informed me that he had just received a phone call from a HIGHLY placed Obama regime ‘official’ WARNING him to stop what we have been doing, spreading the truth and exposing the regime and her boss (MY words, certainly not hers) or bad things were going to happen.

It was at this point that Collins-Windsor had had enough and admittedly, he went OFF on this woman…calling URG 1

her every name in the book…informing her in NO uncertain terms that THIS was AMERICA and NOT the damn USSR and OUR Constitution gives ALL of us the RIGHT to SPEAK OUR DAMNED MINDS!!!

If you had any idea how I cleaned that up…the conversation was decidedly NOT pretty and while I have heard a recording, I could only hear Michael’s end of the conversation, not ot hers, but trust me when I tell you that Michael Collins-Windsor spared NOTHING from his end of it.

So…from whom was that call placed???

NONE OTHER THAN VALERIE JARRETT!!!!!

And then came the next shocker of the day as we traced the number from Michael’s caller ID…

THE CALL WAS PLACED FROM THE OFFICE OF…

VICE REGIME LEADER…JOE BIDEN’S OFFICE IN WASHINGTON DC!!!!!

While Michael, Diane, myself and another (nameless here to do what I can to protect his safety) were discussing the situation, Michael’s phone rang again and we were ALL privy to Michael’s end of the conversation as it happened live.

Believe me, if you could have heard what WE heard for the next 5 minutes…you would have a VERY clear understanding of what an AMERICAN, and one who has fought for and been wounded in the defense of our nation really sounds like.

Michael was AGAIN warned and THREATENED…told to stop the investigative pieces…TOLD TO STOP DIANE AND I…and told that he, Michael Collins-Windsor WOULD be ARRESTED to which Michael told THEM…”COME AND GET ME…YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHERE I AM…ARREST ME…COME ON…GODDAMNIT…COME AND GET ME I AIN’T GOING ANYWHERE!!!”

Michael was ordered to stay right where he was and they were on their way.

And who exactly were THESE goons???

THE UNITED STATES SECRET SERVICE…OBAMA’S PALACE GUARDS…THAT’S WHO!!!

Some 90 minutes later…

Two of the palace guards…SECRET SERVICE and two of the goon squad…FBI…were at the home of Collins-Windsor and after a 90 minute ‘conversation’ Michael informed us of what went down.

They accused Michael of things he did not do…they accused Diane and myself of having certain access to information we did not have…they threatened him with the IRS…with arrest for, of all things…BEING DISRESPECTFUL of the regime…the list of government abuses goes on and on and they threatened to RETURN WITH A COURT ORDER TO SEARCH THE COMPUTERS OF MICHAEL COLLINS-WINDSOR FOR INFORMATION THEY ARE JUST SO SURE HE HAS…but in reality, simply doesn’t exist.

Friends and Patriots…this is happening in the United States of America. A nation of laws being broken daily by the Obama regime. If it’s happening to Michael Collins-Windsor, a military veteran and Conservative Patriot and to myself and my partner and friend Diane Sori…because we have exercised our rights to FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION under the 1st Amendment…

IT CAN AND WILL HAPPEN TO ANY AND ALL WHO DARE TO SPEAK UP AND SPEAK OUT AGAINST THIS REGIME!!!

SATURDAY… July 12th at 11am EST…CPR Worldwide Media will rebroadcast our SPECIAL RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS show and we WILL provide even MORE details regarding this ABHORRENT situation.

On Thursday night, we wewre joined, live on the air, by the CEO of CPR Radio, Michael Collins-Windsor as we exposed a 1st Amendment trampling that affects ALL Americans.

We will continue to expose these tactics and provide details and trust me when I tell you…I have ONLY scratched the surface of today’s events in this article. There IS more…MUCH more and you will be SHOCKED at what you will hear.

Join Diane Sori and myself…SATURDAY…JULY 12th at 11AM EST for an URGENT RIGHT SIDE PATRIOTS SPECIAL REPORT…”A REGIME GONE ROGUE…AMERICA IN THE BALANCE,” which will be immediately followed by our ORIGINAL BENGHAZI SPECIAL at 1pm EST!!!

http://912communique.com/

I do not find this surprising, the regime really thinks they can do anything now. There is no telling what or who they will go after next.

GMN's Ashley called Connecticut State Troopers, and guess who answered the telephone? Sandy Hook spokes-nazi Lt. Vance! Remember; this is the guy who wanted to arrest people for "tweeting" erroneous information about Sandy Hook. Listen to this audio & you'll hear what he has to say about gun confiscation in Connecticut. He called Ashley "un-American" for inquiring about the Constitutionality of the law, and at the very end of the call he said "...I am the master..." when Ashley reminded him of his obligations as a public servant.

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT)- An Eastern Kentucky woman is outraged after she allegedly watched a Kentucky State Police trooper shoot her dog right in front of her.

But was the trooper defending himself or being careless?

A blood stain outside of Becky Pelfrey’s home in West Van Lear is a reminder of what she watch unfold early Monday morning.

“It was pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. Just five shots right in a row,” Pelfrey said.

She says she woke up to a Kentucky State Police trooper and a Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy knocking on her door at 1:30 in the morning to serve a warrant for someone that no longer lives at her house.

Two other KSP troopers pulled up just as her 4 year old Great Dane named Boss got out.

“He ran past a sheriff’s deputy and a state trooper that was on the porch. He went down the steps on my sidewalk and he was out maybe five seconds, and then I heard gunfire,” Pelfrey said, “I looked out and Boss was lying in the road. And I said, ‘Did you shoot my dog?’ and [the trooper] said, ‘Yes ma’am I did, he was charging at me.’”

But Pelfrey questions the troopers’ claim, asking why he felt the need to shoot five times, if he was standing in the road and when Boss walked right by the deputy and trooper standing at her front door.

“They could have tazed him, they could have pepper sprayed him, I know they carry batons. They could have taken other precautions instead of drawing your weapon and firing,” Pelfrey added.

Boss returned home from the vet Wednesday after being treated for four gunshot wounds. The vet says Boss could lose one of his legs.

We reached out to Kentucky State Police for their side of the story, they declined to comment.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police have expanded their aircraft fleet at no upfront costs to the state.

The former U.S. Air Force jet was acquired through a military surplus program.

State Justice and Public Safety Secretary J. Michael Brown said Wednesday that the state will incur some costs to convert the plane from military to commercial use.

But the plane, valued at $1 million, was acquired through a program that allows law enforcement agencies to obtain surplus military weapons, vehicles and aircraft at no cost.

The Justice and Public Safety Cabinet says the plane will be used by state police to respond to situations that require specialized teams to be moved into place quickly, such as a hostage negotiation team

paster baldwin, it is not over

IT IS NOT OVER

By Chuck Baldwin
January 9, 2014
NewsWithViews.com

Everywhere I go, I meet people who seem to believe that it's all over, that there is no hope, that freedom is forever doomed. The doom and gloomers are omnipresent. But there is a great line in the newest version of the movie "Red Dawn" that should help put it all in perspective. One of the freedom fighters says, "I'm still breathing so, it's not over." I love that line. I feel exactly the same way.

There is no question that the forces of globalism and socialism have pretty much had their way over the past few decades. And with very few exceptions, we don't have a lot of allies in Washington, D.C., and in most State capitals. For that matter, we don't have a lot of allies on Wall Street or in most classrooms. But that doesn't mean that it's over: not by a long shot.

Freedom didn't have a majority in 1775 and 1776, either. I doubt that one could find any time in history when the proponents of liberty were ever in a majority. Sam Adams may have said it best when he said, "It does not take a majority to prevail...but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."

However, there is one thing that Colonial America had that modern America doesn't have: a patriot pulpit. The pulpits of Colonial America were ablaze with the fire of liberty. Colonial clergymen of every Christian denomination explained, extolled, enlightened, expounded, and elucidated the Natural Biblical principles of liberty from their pulpits continuously. Remember that it was mostly the men of Pastor Jonas Clark's congregation at the Church of Lexington that stood armed on Lexington Green against British troops in the wee morning hours of April 19, 1775, and fired the shot heard 'round the world.

Publisher and historian Gerald Nordskog writes these words about Jonas Clark: "As the pastor of the church at Lexington, he typically gave four sermons a week, written out and orally presented--nearly 2200 sermons in his lifetime. His preaching was vigorous in style, animated in manner, instructive in matter, and delivered with uncommon energy and zeal, with an agreeable and powerful voice. His sermons were rarely less than an hour, often more."

Nordskog continues, "It can be regarded only as a singularly happy circumstance that, as Lexington was to be the place where resistance to the power of England was first to occur, and the great act of a declaration of war first to be made by the act of the people in the blood to be there shed, making the place forever famous in history, the minister of Lexington should have been a man of the principles, character, courage, and energy of Mr. Clark.

"It can be regarded he was eminently a man produced by the times--more than equal to them; rather a guide and leader. All his previous life, his preaching, his intercourse and conversation among his people had been but a continued and most effectual preparation for the noble stand taken by his people on the morning of the 19th of April, 1775. The militia on the Common that morning were the same who filled the pews of the meetinghouse on the Sunday morning before, and the same who hung upon the rear of the retreating enemy in the forenoon and throughout the day. They were only carrying the preaching of many previous years into practice.

"It would not be beyond the truth to assert that there was no person at that time and in that vicinity--not only no clergyman but no other person of whatever calling or profession, who took a firmer stand for the liberties of the country or was more ready to perform the duties and endure the sacrifices of a patriot, than the minister of Lexington.

"When the struggle actually commenced, the people were ready for it, thoroughly acquainted with the reasons on which the duty of resistance was founded, and prepared to discharge the duty at every hazard. No population within the compass of the Colonies were better prepared for the events of the 19th of April, than the people of Lexington; no people to whom the events of that day could more safely have been entrusted; none more worthy of the duties that fell to their lot; or who better deserved the honours which have followed the faithful performance of them. No single individual probably did so much to educate the people up to that point of intelligence, firmness, and courage, as their honoured and beloved pastor." (Nordskog, Gerald Christian; The Battle of Lexington; Nordskog Publishing; 2007;
Print.)

Can one imagine how history would have been changed had the Church of Lexington, Massachusetts, and all of the churches of Colonial America for that matter, been occupied with the kinds of ministers we have today? I can tell you this: there would have been no Lexington Green and Concord Bridge; no Bunker Hill; no Valley Forge; no Declaration of Independence; no U.S. Constitution; and no United States of America. And that is an absolute fact. The erroneous interpretation of Romans 13, so prevalent today among pastors and churches, would have instructed the colonists that it would be a sin against God to rebel against King George. Pastors would have taught their congregations to be good little slaves to the Crown. Without a doubt, had Colonial America had the kinds of ministers we have today, we would still be a subjected colony of Great Britain to this very hour.

And if you think Jonas Clark was the exception to the rule in Colonial America, you haven't studied history. Men such as John Witherspoon, James Caldwell, John Peter Muhlenberg, Joab Houghton, Ebenezer Baldwin, Elisha Williams, Charles Chauncy, Jonathan Mayhew, Isaac Backus, Samuel Sherwood, John Fletcher, John Leland, etc., etc, inspired and instructed Christians of all denominations regarding their duties and responsibilities as free men and women under God--including the duty to free themselves from the yoke of bondage.

So prominent was the role that Presbyterian pastors played in the American Revolution that as news of the rebellion spread throughout England, Horace Walpole told his fellow members of the British Parliament, "There is no use crying about it. Cousin America has run off with a Presbyterian parson, and that is the end of it." And Presbyterian ministers were not the only ones to rally the church for the cause of independence.

So many Baptist preachers participated in America's War for Independence that at the conclusion of the war, President George Washington wrote a personal letter to the Baptist people saying, "I recollect with satisfaction that the religious societies of which you are a member have been, throughout America, uniformly and almost unanimously, the firm friends to civil liberty, and the preserving promoters of our glorious Revolution." It also explains how Thomas Jefferson could write to a Baptist congregation and say, "We have acted together from the origin to the end of a memorable Revolution." (McDaniel, George White. The People Called Baptists. The Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, 1918. Print.)

But it was ministers from all of the Christian denominations who sounded the clarion call for freedom from their pulpits. Writing in the mid-1800s, noted attorney and historian John Wingate Thornton said, "To the Pulpit, the Puritan Pulpit, we owe the moral force which won our independence."

The patriot pulpit is what Colonial America had that modern America doesn't have. We lack the "moral force" of that patriot pulpit. For the most part, America's pastors today are shy, sheepish servants of the state. For the American people to once again muster the courage and conviction to reclaim their liberties requires a revival of the patriot pulpit. As long as Christian people stay seated in the padded pews of these passive pulpits, our nation will continue to plummet into the pit. But this is where the good news begins.

All over the country, tens of thousands of Christians are leaving these timid and cowardly ministers--even pastors are leaving their timid congregations behind and joining up with freedom-minded believers in brand new independent fellowships.

For example, we have over 800 patriot pastors listed on our Black Regiment web page. These are ministers who are not afraid to identify themselves as a patriot pastor and have asked to be included in the list. I invite you to search the list and see if there is a Black Regiment pastor near you. See it here.

Furthermore, there are thousands of Christians who are leaving these say-nothing churches and starting home churches or are meeting with small groups of believers who also share their love of liberty. In addition, we have hundreds of believers who, because they cannot find a patriot pastor in their community, are tuning into the service at Liberty Fellowship each Sunday afternoon at 2:30 Mountain Time and listening to our messages.

To watch our messages live each Sunday afternoon online.

I am personally convinced that there will be a "latter rain" of God's outpoured blessings, including the blessings of liberty, upon His remnant in America. The fires of liberty are burning too brightly in too many hearts. And more and more of Sam Adams' "brushfires of freedom" are being lit by the day. I firmly believe that what is now a trickle of revival and separation from these dead churches will soon become a torrent. Patriot pastors and congregations are being reborn and rebuilt at this very moment.

If it means we must forsake the establishment church, so be it. If it means we must leave the sleeping and lethargic behind, so be it. If it means we must relocate, so be it. If it means we must break old traditions, so be it. If it means it might cost us something, so be it. We fought and won our liberties once; we can do it again.

Is there no hope? Is it all over? Too many freedom lovers are still breathing so, it's not over.

Movie Mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg Raises $1 Million for Mitch McConnell's Democratic Foe

Hollywood is betting big on Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Democratic challenger to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Jeffrey Katzenberg, the movie mogul and Democratic kingmaker, raised more than $1 million for Grimes at a recent fundraiser at the Spago restaurant in Beverly Hills, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Katzenberg, who marshaled more than $30 million to reelect President Obama, has trained his sights on the McConnell-Grimes race for 2014 election season.

In an email to potential donors sent earlier this month, Katzenberg said of the Kentucky Senate race, "There is no more important election being held next year in this country." Katzenberg wrote that he sees McConnell as an obstructionist who has crippled the US Senate and hurt the democratic process in Congress. "Alison is the antidote to McConnell and all he represents," Katzenberg wrote. "She can win, and she will win if she gets the support she needs."

Here's more on Katzenberg's fundraiser from the Hollywood Reporter:

As the event concluded shortly before 8 p.m. and the room emptied out, the studio head and his political adviser, Andy Spahn, lingered at a table chatting with the candidate. As Grimes made her own exit, she paused to thank lingering campaign staff members, who laughingly told her the effort “came from the top down,” a reference to the intense hands-on role Katzenberg took in orchestrating the visit.

Asked for names of donors, Katzenberg simply responded, "Everybody."

The total was particularly impressive since individual donors can contribute only $5,200 to a candidate for federal office.

One of the Hollywood insiders who sized Grimes up during the whirlwind visit told THR that—while there are no formal records kept–the $1 million total is thought to be a record for a single visit by a senatorial candidate raising money in the L.A. entertainment industry.

A knowledgeable source also told THR that Katzenberg is preparing to renew his strong support for Democratic Super PACs as a way to level the electoral playing field in Kentucky, where Republican independent expenditure committees are expected to spend major cash to secure McConnell’s reelection.

Grimes herself made a strong impression at the luncheon, cocktail event and private meetings she attended during a visit that began Wednesday and wrapped up Thursday night. "I spent some time talking with her," said one Hollywood supporter. "She's very smart, very attractive, very poised. She has a good story about her Kentucky roots and her life there. She is very serious. She really wants to win this.

Six Quotes Hint Why Margaret Sanger Received “a dozen invitations” to speak at Ku Klux Klan Rallies

Most of us, myself included, will live our entire lives and never be invited to speak at a single Ku Klux Klan Rally. And yet, Margaret Sanger, the foundress of Planned Parenthood, received at least 13 such invitations. Would someone from Planned Parenthood please tell us why Margaret Sanger was so in demand on the KKK speaking circuit?

Six Quotes Hint Why Marget Sanger Received “a dozen invitations” to speak at Ku Klux Klan Rallies

Margaret Sanger wrote about her Ku Klux Klan speech in her autobiography, “I accepted an invitation to talk to the women’s branch of the Ku Klux Klan…I saw through the door dim figures parading with banners and illuminated crosses…I was escorted to the platform, was introduced, and began to speak…In the end, through simple illustrations I believed I had accomplished my purpose. A dozen invitations to speak to similar groups were proffered.” (Margaret Sanger: An Autobiography, P.366)

What did Margaret Sanger say in her talk at the KKK Rally in Silver Lake New Jersey that led to twelve more invitations? Well, take a look at some of her past quotes:

1) “We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population. and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

Margaret Sanger’s December 19, 1939 letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble, 255 Adams Street, Milton, Massachusetts. Original source: Sophia Smith Collection, Smith College, North Hampton, Massachusetts. Also described in Linda Gordon’s Woman’s Body, Woman’s Right: A Social History of Birth Control in America. New York: Grossman Publishers, 1976.

2) “Eugenic sterilization is an urgent need … We must prevent multiplication of this bad stock.”

Margaret Sanger, April 1933 Birth Control Review.

3) “Our failure to segregate morons who are increasing and multiplying … demonstrates our foolhardy and extravagant sentimentalism … [Philanthropists] encourage the healthier and more normal sections of the world to shoulder the burden of unthinking and indiscriminate fecundity of others; which brings with it, as I think the reader must agree, a dead weight of human waste. Instead of decreasing and aiming to eliminate the stocks that are most detrimental to the future of the race and the world, it tends to render them to a menacing degree dominant … We are paying for, and even submitting to, the dictates of an ever-increasing, unceasingly spawning class of human beings who never should have been born at all.”

Margaret Sanger. The Pivot of Civilization, 1922. Chapter on “The Cruelty of Charity,” pages 116, 122, and 189. Swarthmore College Library edition.

4) “The most merciful thing that a family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.”

Margaret Sanger (editor). The Woman Rebel, Volume I, Number 1. Reprinted in Woman and the New Race. New York: Brentanos Publishers, 1922.

The Truth About MARGRET SANGER

(This article first appeared in the January 20, 1992 edition of Citizen magazine)

How Planned Parenthood Duped America

At a March 1925 international birth control gathering in New York City, a speaker warned of the menace posed by the "black" and "yellow" peril. The man was not a Nazi or Klansman; he was Dr. S. Adolphus Knopf, a member of Margaret Sanger's American Birth Control League (ABCL), which along with other groups eventually became known as Planned Parenthood.

Sanger's other colleagues included avowed and sophisticated racists. One, Lothrop Stoddard, was a Harvard graduate and the author of The Rising Tide of Color against White Supremacy. Stoddard was something of a Nazi enthusiast who described the eugenic practices of the Third Reich as "scientific" and "humanitarian." And Dr. Harry Laughlin, another Sanger associate and board member for her group, spoke of purifying America's human "breeding stock" and purging America's "bad strains." These "strains" included the "shiftless, ignorant, and worthless class of antisocial whites of the South."

Not to be outdone by her followers, Margaret Sanger spoke of sterilizing those she designated as "unfit," a plan she said would be the "salvation of American civilization.: And she also spike of those who were "irresponsible and reckless," among whom she included those " whose religious scruples prevent their exercising control over their numbers." She further contended that "there is no doubt in the minds of all thinking people that the procreation of this group should be stopped." That many Americans of African origin constituted a segment of Sanger considered "unfit" cannot be easily refuted.

While Planned Parenthood's current apologists try to place some distance between the eugenics and birth control movements, history definitively says otherwise. The eugenic theme figured prominently in the Birth Control Review, which Sanger founded in 1917. She published such articles as "Some Moral Aspects of Eugenics" (June 1920), "The Eugenic Conscience" (February 1921), "The purpose of Eugenics" (December 1924), "Birth Control and Positive Eugenics" (July 1925), "Birth Control: The True Eugenics" (August 1928), and many others.

These eugenic and racial origins are hardly what most people associate with the modern Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), which gave its Margaret Sanger award to the late Dr. Martin Luther King in 1966, and whose current president, Faye Wattleton, is black, a former nurse, and attractive.

Though once a social pariah group, routinely castigated by religious and government leaders, the PPFA is now an established, high-profile, well-funded organization with ample organizational and ideological support in high places of American society and government. Its statistics are accepted by major media and public health officials as "gospel"; its full-page ads appear in major newspapers; its spokespeople are called upon to give authoritative analyses of what America's family policies should be and to prescribe official answers that congressmen, state legislator and Supreme Court justiices all accept as "social orthodoxy."

Blaming Families

Sanger's obsession with eugenics can be traced back to her own family. One of 11 children, she wrote in the autobiographical book, My Fight for Birth Control, that "I associated poverty, toil, unemployment, drunkenness, cruelty, quarreling, fighting, debts, jails with large families." Just as important was the impression in her childhood of an inferior family status, exacerbated by the iconoclastic, "free-thinking" views of her father, whose "anti-Catholic attitudes did not make for his popularity" in a predominantly Irish community.

The fact that the wealthy families in her hometown of Corning, N.Y., had relatively few children, Sanger took as prima facie evidence of the impoverishing effect of larger families. The personal impact of this belief was heightened 1899, at the age of 48. Sanger was convinced that the "ordeals of motherhood" had caused the death of her mother. The lingering consumption (tuberculosis) that took her mother's life visited Sanger at the birth of her own first child on Nov. 18, 1905. The diagnosis forced her to seek refuge in the Adirondacks to strengthen her for the impending birth. Despite the precautions, the birth of baby Grant was "agonizing," the mere memory of which Sanger described as "mental torture" more than 25 years later. She once described the experience as a factor "to be reckoned with" in her zealous campaign for birth control.

From the beginning, Sanger advocacy of sex education reflected her interest in population control and birth prevention among the "unfit." Her first handbook, published for adolescents in 1915 and entitled, What Every Boy and Girl Should Know, featured a jarring afterword:

It is a vicious cycle; ignorance breeds poverty and poverty breeds ignorance. There is only one cure for both, and that is to stoop breeding these things. Stop bringing to birth children whose inheritance cannot be one of health or intelligence. Stop bringing into the world children whose parents cannot provide for them.

To Sanger, the ebbing away of moral and religious codes over sexual conduct was a natural consequence of the worthlessness of such codes in the individual's search for self-fulfillment. "Instead of laying down hard and fast rules of sexual conduct," Sanger wrote in her 1922 book Pivot of Civilization, "sex can be rendered effective and valuable only as it meets and satisfies the interests and demands of the pupil himself." Her attitude is appropriately described as libertinism, but sex knowledge was not the same as individual liberty, as her writings on procreation emphasized.

The second edition of Sanger's life story, An Autobiography, appeared in 1938. There Sanger described her first cross-country lecture tour in 1916. Her standard speech asserted seven conditions of life that "mandated" the use of birth control: the third was "when parents, though normal, had subnormal children"; the fourth, "when husband and wife were adolescent"; the fifth, "when the earning capacity of the father was inadequate." No right existed to exercise sex knowledge to advance procreation. Sanger described the fact that "anyone, no matter how ignorant, how diseased mentally or physically, how lacking in all knowledge of children, seemed to consider he or she had the right to become a parent."

Religious Bigotry

In the 1910's and 1920's, the entire social order–religion, law, politics, medicine, and the media–was arrayed against the idea and practice of birth control. This opposition began in 1873 when an overwhelmingly Protestant Congress passed, and a Protestant president signed into law, a bill that became known as the Comstock Law, named after its main proponent, Anthony Comstock. The U.S. Congress classified obscene writing, along with drugs, and devices and articles that prevented conception or caused abortion, under the same net of criminality and forbade their importation or mailing.

Sanger set out to have such legislation abolished or amended. Her initial efforts were directed at the Congress with the opening of a Washington, D.C., office of her American Birth Control League in 1926. Sanger wanted to amend section 211 of the U.S. criminal code to allow the interstate shipment and mailing of contraceptives among physicians, druggists and drug manufacturers.

Hi....thought I would share this message with you....pretty profound and makes you wonder where the years went.

>>It's  Spring and then winter
>>
>>
>>
>>THIS EMAIL IS VERY THOUGHT PROVOKING. MAKES YOU STOP AND THINK. READ SLOWLY!
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>AND THEN IT'S WINTER
>>
>>You know. .
. Time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of  the
passing years. It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married
and embarking on my new life with my mate.  Yet in a way, it seems like
eons  ago, and I wonder where all the years went.  I know that I
lived them all.  I  have glimpses of how it was back then and of all
my hopes and dreams.
>>
>>But, here it is... The winter of my life
and it catches me by surprise...How  did I get here so fast?  Where
did the years go and where did my youth go?  I  remember well seeing
older people through the years and thinking that those  older people were
years away from me and that winter was so far off that I  could not
fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like.
>>
>>
>>But, here
it is...my friends are retired and getting gray...they move slower  and I
see an older person now.  Some are in better and some worse shape
than  me...but, I see the great change...Not like the ones that I
remember who  were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is
beginning to show and we  are now those older folks that we used to see
and never thought we'd be.   Each day now, I find that just getting
a shower is a real target for the  day!  And taking a nap is not a
treat anymore... it's mandatory! Cause if I  don't on my own free will...
I just fall asleep where I sit!
>>
>>And so...now I enter into this
new season of my life unprepared for all the  aches and pains and the
loss of strength and ability to go and do things  that I wish I had done
but never did!!  But, at least I know, that though the  winter has
come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know, that  when
it's over on this earth...its over.  A new adventure will begin!
>>
>>Yes, I have regrets.  There are things I wish I hadn't
done...things I should  have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm
happy to have done.  It's  all in a lifetime.
>>
>>So, if
you're not in your winter yet...let me remind you, that it will be  here
faster than you think.  So, what ever you would like to accomplish
in  your life please do it quickly!  Don't put things off too
long!!  Life goes by  quickly.  So, do what you can today, as
you can never be sure whether this is  your winter or not! You have no
promise that you will see all the seasons of  your life...so, live for
today and say all the things that you want your  loved ones to
remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all  the things
that you have done for them in all the years past!!
>>
>>"Life" is a
gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those  who come
after. Make it a fantastic one.
>>
>>LIVE IT WELL!
>>ENJOY TODAY!
>>DO
SOMETHING FUN!
>>BE HAPPY !
>>HAVE A GREAT DAY
>>
>>Remember "It is
health and one's children/grandchildren that are one's real wealth and not
pieces of gold and silver "
>>
>>
>>LIVE HAPPY IN 2013!
LASTLY, CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:  TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN,
YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE  SO - ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.
>>
>>FURTHER THOUGHTS
>>
>>* Your kids are becoming you......but your
grandchildren are perfect!
>>* Going out is good.. Coming home is better!
>>* You forget names.... But it's OK because other people forgot they even
knew  you!!!
>>* You realize you're never going to be really good at
anything.... Especially  golf.
>>* The things you used to care to do,
you no longer care to do, but you really  do care that you don't care to
do them anymore.
>>* You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring
than in bed. It's  called "pre-sleep".
>>* You miss the days when
everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch
>>* You tend to use
more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... ???
>>* Now that you can afford
expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.
>>* Everybody
whispers.
>>* You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet.... 2 of which you
will never wear.
>>* But Old is good in some things: Old Songs, Old movies,
and best of all, OLD FRIENDS!!

Israel Targeted Iranian Missiles in Syria Attack

The missile shipment struck by Israel was reported to include Iranian-made Fateh-110’s, a type of mobile, accurate, solid-fueled missile, like this one in a military parade in Tehran in 2010.

BEIRUT, Lebanon — A series of powerful explosions rocked the outskirts of Damascus early Sunday morning, which Syrian state television said was the result of Israeli missile attacks on a Syrian military installation.

Twice in four months Israel has sought to disrupt the pipeline of weapons to Hezbollah.

If true, it would be the second Israeli airstrike in Syria in two days and the third this year.

The airstrike that Israeli warplanes carried out in Syria overnight on Thursday was directed at a shipment of advanced surface-to-surface missiles from Iran that Israel believed was intended for Hezbollah, American officials said Saturday. That strike was aimed at disrupting the arms pipeline that runs from Syria to Hezbollah, the militant Lebanese organization, and it highlighted the mounting stakes for Hezbollah and Israel as Syria becomes more chaotic.

Iran and Hezbollah have both backed President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian civil war, now in its third year. But as fighting in Syria escalates, they also have a powerful interest in expediting the delivery of advanced weapons to Hezbollah in case Mr. Assad loses his grip on power and Syria ceases to be an effective channel for funneling weapons from Iran.

The missiles that were the target of the Israeli raid had been shipped from Iran and were being stored in a warehouse at Damascus International Airport when they were struck, according to an American official.

Iran has sought to use the threat of a Hezbollah missile attack against Israeli territory as a means of building up its ally and deterring Israel from conducting airstrikes on Iranian nuclear installations that Israeli and American officials believe are part of an Iranian nuclear weapons program.

In Lebanon, some analysts said they believed that a strong Hezbollah could also emerge as a powerful ally for Mr. Assad if he is forced to abandon Damascus, the Syrian capital, and take refuge in a rump Iranian-backed state on the Syrian coast, a region that abuts the Hezbollah-controlled northern Bekaa Valley.

“The relationship between Hezbollah and the Assad regime is stronger now,” said Talal Atrissi, a professor at Lebanese University in Beirut who has good relations with Hezbollah. If Mr. Assad falls, Hezbollah knows the axis of Syria, Hezbollah and Iran will be greatly weakened, he said.

Israel, for its part, has repeatedly cautioned that it will not allow Hezbollah to receive “game changing” weapons that could threaten the Israeli heartland even if a new Syrian government takes power.

As the Obama administration considers how to dissuade Mr. Assad from ordering a chemical weapons attack — the use of such weapons, the White House has said, would cross a “red line” — Israel, by striking the warehouse, is clearly showing that it is prepared to stand behind the red lines it has set.

“The Israelis are saying, ‘O.K., whichever way the civil war is going, we are going to keep our red lines, which are different from Obama’s,’ ” said Ehud Yaari, an Israel-based fellow of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

On Friday, SANA, the official Syrian news agency, reported an attack on the Damascus airport by Syrian rebels firing rockets at an aircraft and fuel dump — an account that American officials say may have been intended to obscure the fact that the target was a warehouse full of missiles.
