India to pay gold instead of dollars for Iranian oil. Oil and gold markets stunned

Iranian oil for India

India is the first buyer of Iranian oil to agree to pay for its purchases in gold instead of the US dollar, DEBKAfile's intelligence and Iranian sources report exclusively.  Those sources expect China to follow suit. India and China take about one million barrels per day, or 40 percent of Iran's total exports of 2.5 million bpd. Both are superpowers in terms of gold assets.

By trading in gold, New Delhi and Beijing enable Tehran to bypass the upcoming freeze on its central bank's assets and the oil embargo which the European Union's foreign ministers agreed to impose Monday, Jan. 23. The EU currently buys around 20 percent of Iran's oil exports.

The vast sums involved in these transactions are expected, furthermore, to boost the price of gold and depress the value of the dollar on world markets.

Iran's second largest customer after China, India purchases around $12 billion a year's worth of Iranian crude, or about 12 percent of its consumption. Delhi is to execute its transactions, according to our sources, through two state-owned banks: the Calcutta-based UCO Bank, whose board of directors is made up of Indian government and Reserve Bank of India representatives; and Halk Bankasi (Peoples Bank), Turkey's seventh largest bank which is owned by the government.

An Indian delegation visited Tehran last week to discuss payment options in view of the new sanctions. The two sides were reported to have agreed that payment for the oil purchased would be partly in yen and partly in rupees. The switch to gold was kept dark.

India thus joins China in opting out of the US-led European sanctions against Iran's international oil and financial business. Turkey announced publicly last week that it would not adhere to any sanctions against Iran's nuclear program unless they were imposed by the United Nations Security Council.

The EU decision of Monday banned the signing of new oil contracts with Iran at once, while phasing out existing transactions by July 1, 2012, when the European embargo, like the measure enforced by the United States, becomes total. The European foreign ministers also approved a freeze on the assets of the Central Bank of Iran which handles all the country's oil transactions.

However, the damage those sanctions cause the Iranian economy will be substantially cushioned by the oil deals to be channeled through Turkish and Indian state banks.  China for its part has declared its opposition to sanctions against Iran.

DEBKAfile's intelligence sources disclose that Tehran has set up alternative financial mechanisms with China and Russia for getting paid for its oil in currencies other than US dollars. Both Beijing and Moscow are keeping the workings of those mechanisms top secret.

Sir Robert Peel's Nine Principles

  • The basic mission for which the police exist

is to prevent crime and disorder.

  • The ability of the police to perform their

duties is dependent upon public approval of police actions.

  • Police must secure the willing co-operation

of the public in voluntary observance of the law to be able to secure and

maintain the respect of the public.

  • The degree of co-operation of the public

that can be secured diminishes proportionately to the necessity of the use of

    physical force.

  • Police seek and preserve public favour not

by catering to public opinion but by constantly demonstrating absolute

    impartial service to the law.

  • Police use physical force to the extent

necessary to secure observance of the law or to restore order only when the

exercise of persuasion, advice and warning is found to be insufficient.

  • Police, at all times, should maintain a

relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that

the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only

members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which

are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and

    existence.

  • Police should always direct their action

strictly towards their functions and never appear to usurp the powers of the

    judiciary.

  • The test of police efficiency is the absence

of crime and disorder, not the visible evidence of police action in dealing

    with it.

NATO sees migrant risk to Europe from Egypt unrest

Mon Feb 7, 2011 1:16pm GMT
[-] Text [+]

BRUSSELS Feb 7 (Reuters) - NATO said unrest in Egypt and elsewhere in North Africa and the Middle East, could lead to an increase in illegal migrants seeking to enter Europe.

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, a former Danish prime minister, said the unrest was not a direct threat to the 28 members of the military alliance, but could have an impact on the Middle East peace process and regional stability in general.

"That may also in the longer-term perspective have a negative impact on economies, which might lead to illegal immigration in Europe," he told a news briefing in Brussels.

"So of course, indirectly, there might be a negative impact on Europe caused by the evolving situation in North Africa and the Middle East." (Reporting by David Brunnstrom, editing by Rex Merrifield)

STATEMENT FROM CONGRESSWOMAN SHEILA JACKSON LEE

Washington, Jan 13 - 2011

“Wednesday evening in Tucson, Arizona, President Obama
accurately said, ‘There is no way to know what triggered the

rampage that left six people dead, thirteen others wounded and

the nation shaken.’ And he further challenged us by saying,

‘we can be better.’ I agree.

“Also on Wednesday in Washington, D.C., on the floor of the
House, in tribute to Congresswoman Giffords, her staff, those

who lost their lives and the wounded, I said that ‘now it is

time for us to do our best, to be a servant and a leader

giving to others first, showing by example.’

“That is why I am so very, very disappointed that the
former Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, chose to

interrupt this spirit of harmony by interjecting an eight

minute discussion that was more divisive than it was unifying.

I am saddened because the day that she chose, was the day of

the Memorial Tribute, and that day should have been a time

when no one interjected themselves above the non-partisan

spirit of reflection and inspiration. Further, the use of the

term “blood-libel” was unfortunate and warrants a

clarification. I hope -- as we go forward, we can have a

collective unified voice against violence, and not focus on

our individual selves or any perceived personal slight. And we

should continue to reach out to each other.

“Finally, I join the President in saying again, ‘We can be
better,’ and I personally believe America is at her best when

she is doing her best.”

Political Correctness Has Poisoned AmericaBy Thomas D. Segel | Posted November 14, 2009Harlingen, Texas, November 12, 2009:It started out as a mild virus initiated by the left of center intellectuals of academia. But, like every virus from computer carried to influenza, it spread rapidly through schools, hospitals, civil service, the media, companies, governance and the armed forces. Political correctness has poisoned all of America. The famed author of children’s books, Anthony Browne has also written a telling examination of political correctness in The Retreat of Reason. Says Browne, “Political correctness is the ‘heresy of liberalism’ under which reliance on reason has been replaced on the emotional appeal of an argument. Adopting certain positions makes the politically correct feel virtuous, even more so when they are preventing the expression of an opinion that conflicts with their own. Political correctness is the dictatorship of virtue.”Europe has seen political correctness applied everywhere. They have seen the rise of anti-Semitic attacks in England, France, Germany, and the Netherlands. The politically correct “truth” of these attacks being presented to the public has been White Neo-Nazi skinheads waged the attacks. The reality is, young Muslim men perpetrated most of the attacks. From the United Nations we keep hearing that Africa is getting poorer with every passing day. According to Browne, it is charged that the West not giving Africa enough economic aid causes this poverty. Again, the truth is quite a different story. Africa is getting poorer because its various governments range from corrupt to politically ignorant.Back home in the United States we find ourselves infected with political correctness starting at the White House and reaching into our smallest communities. Political correctness is used to justify the excessive immigration, extravagant guest-worker programs, the overseas outsourcing of job, foolish trade policies, and even more foolish energy policies. A left of center lap dog media has condoned excessive national debt, unemployment, oppression of taxpayers, and a collapse of the middle class by pointing its long finger at the previous administration. Again, the truth is quite different. If allowed to continue, the policies that created this sick economy and confused electorate will destroy our culture along with our economy. There can be no greater example of political correctness than the Obama Administration and the Democrat controlled Congress. We are no longer fighting a global war against terror. The word ‘terror’ has been removed from current political language. We must understand why the Muslim world is upset with us.We must dialog. We must talk unconditionally and on and on.The truth is we are hated by the Muslim world. It is not only political correctness, but also political madness to hear the words of hatred aimed at the West and not accept them as reality. Even thethreats of Osama bin Laden were taken from the eighth and ninth chapters of the Koran.“When you meet the unbelievers strike them in the neck…. If you do not go out and fight, God will punish you severely…Whenever you find the polytheists, kill them, seize them, besiege them, ambush them…You who believe do not take Jews and Christians as friends…The Hour of Judgement will not come until Muslims fight the Jews and kill them”.Those are the words of the Koran, yet being politically correct we keep saying Islam is a great culture and a religion of peace and tolerance.Ayan Hirsi Ali is a former Muslim who has been amazed at western denial of radical Muslim terrorism. She says, “This is Islam. This is based on belief.”She is quoted in her book Infidel as saying of the 9-11 attacks, “It was not the lunatic fringe who felt this way about America and the West. I knew that the vast mass of Muslims would see the attacks as justified retaliation against the infidel enemies of Islam.” Our own political correctness would not allow us to take the same view.We are now faced with the new terror attack, striking our nation in Fort Hood, Texas. American soldiers were killed or wounded at the hand of another American soldier who had told everyone he was a Muslim first and an American second. He killed crying out the words Allah Akbar, but we were told not to rush to judgment. Even the FBI said we should not consider this a terrorist attack.Next we learned that Nidal Hasan has a history of suspicious behavior, including multiple emails to a known radial Islamic cleric. These were passed off as not even being worthy of detailed examination. There is no doubt that political correctness has brought about a corruption of public debate. The poison of political correctness has spread itself throughout our country. The jury is still out as to it ultimately being the downfall of our society and the country.Email: Tom@thomasdsegel.comHomepage: www.thomasdsegel.com

Stop the whining!

Dear American Patriots,As I was listening to the shows on Veterans' Day talk radio, I couldn't help but want to shout out to everyone in the whole USA that we must dispense with the political correctness and people must get over their whining, complaining and condemnation we frequently hear from everyone who does not agree that, without the immense sacrifices paid by our veterans, their families and friends who support them, 25% of which are homeless in America, there would be NO USA! I am beginning to wonder if we are still living in America?

The President elect cannot acknowledge these salient facts because HE is complicit, if not the main contributing factor due to his public policies relative to Islam, encouraging more of the same incidents to come because of his status and sympathy as an Islamist himself. These incidents, i.e. acts of terror, are NOT considered "extremism" when perpetrated by Muslims or Islamists. According to Muhammadan Islamist doctrine, as mandated by the Qur'an, this is NORMAL behavior for them, and a perfectly legitimate option for any Muslim. They are only perceived as extreme acts of violence to US only because WE embrace the 10 Commandments of God, and the “Golden Rule”, both of which are enshrined in our Constitution. Islamists do not acknowledge either of these concepts, but embrace and abide only the mandates of their constitution as defined in the Qur'an and Hadith. The Qur'an, Sira and Hadith, known as the Islamic trilogy of documents, is that which comprises ALL Muslim – Shari’ah law. This is NOT just about “religion” per se, but the ideology and ethos of Islam. For clarification, Allah does NOT equal God! Allah = Lucifer (Isaiah 14).Our ignorance and naivete relative to the ethos of Islam and Shari'ah puts us at a distinct disadvantage. Moderate Muslim is an oxymoronic term. There is no such thing as a moderate Muslim. Either you are a good (devout) Muslim, or you are an apostate. The former classified as Ummat al-Islam, and the latter is the category of “Ummat al-Kuffar”, the collection of unbelievers (infidels). The argument that most Muslims are peaceful is irrelevant. Even if the majority of Muslims are not terrorists, or do not support terror, they have shown neither the ability nor the desire to denounce the terrorist element. Because Islam is classified by ignorant people as just a religion, they cannot wrap their minds around the fact that Islam is also a movement that is political, ideological, and all-encompassing. Deception and lying are not only allowed under Muslim Shari'ah law, they are encouraged by Muhammadan doctrine for the advancement of Islam. These are the historically accurate, documented facts that we must face and deal with head on.Wake up America! The next attack could make 9/11 look like a very small man-made disaster compared to what might come our way if we continue to enable our President's ideological suicide pact with the American people.
