"For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
There will be no end to the increase of His government of peace,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.”
~ Isaiah 9:6-7 (NASB)
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ,
Today, January 21, 2013, American citizens celebrate the life achievements of the late Martin Luther King, Jr., who was an important civil rights activist and also an advocate of non-violent protests, becoming one of the youngest men to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. King’s most infamous speech “I Have a Dream” was delivered at a march on Washington, D.C. on August 28, 1963.
Needless to say, almost fifty (50) years later, the dream God placed on King’s heart has come to pass. Today, as we commemorate King’s birthday, Barack Hussein Obama II, another young Nobel Peace Prize recipient, is being sworn in as the 45th President of the United States of America.
President Obama had a dream too, and he actually wrote a book about it titled, “Dreams from My Father.” President Obama has made his dream to fundamentally transform the United States of America very clear to the American people.
I too have a dream from my Father that I feel led to share with you today. This is the Lord’s dream for America, which He has placed upon my heart concerning His vision to fundamentally transform the United States of America to come into alignment with His government as our King of kings and Lord of lords…
I Have a Dream
The late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. boldly declared, “I have a dream!” I also boldly declare, “I have a dream!” My dream for our great country, the United States of America, is to radically rededicate itself to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! For America to soar like an eagle and exalt itself once again above all the nations and earn the respect and awe of the entire world.
I have a dream…I envision a time when America’s families will reunite with one another. Where we will learn what the word commitment truly means. The term “nuclear family” will encompass great-grandparents, grandparents, moms and dads, aunts and uncles, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Same-sex marriages will not even be talked about. Love will prevail and enable each of us to support one another spiritually, financially, and physically. Nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and daycare centers will become things of the past. I dream of a time when both parents wouldn’t have to earn a living just to survive, and if both parents felt inspired to pursue a career that brings them passion, it would be no problem because there would be family members to lend a helping hand. Children would be disciplined in love, they would have structure, and they would learn firsthand about their family heritage from their elderly family members. The term latchkey would be a distant memory. As a result, children would learn to honor their mother and father, respect their elders, and have reverence for adult authority again.
I have a dream…of television, newspapers, magazines, and radio stations all broadcasting things that edify our society and no longer serve as the number one source of moral decay in our culture. I dream of a day when families have myriad programs and movies that are wholesome, inspirational, and thought-provoking, allowing family viewing to not only be permissible, but welcomed and truly acceptable for all family members. We wouldn’t have to be concerned with little Johnny or Sally learning bad things from their favorite cartoons based on self-centered activities and exhibiting violent behaviors that are mirrored by our children in their everyday interactions. Our children would see their favorite characters emulate respect for one another, helping one another to be the best they can possibly be. Newspapers and television reporters would seek and report the truth on all issues. Since this is a dream, there would be nothing to report on within our country but stories of honor, courage, and hope. Radio stations would play inspirational ballads revealing the very heart and soul of the artist, not the pornography depicted in rap lyrics and videos. Our children would not be tainted with programming that features gratuitous violence and self-centered characters, teen programs with provocative clothes and situations, pornographic pop-ups on the Web. Toys, t-shirts, video games, and school books—they all fight against the virtues and values you hold most dear and want to instill in your kids.
I have a dream…that every man, woman, and child would be well fed, able to drink fresh water, and have a house to live in with a white picket fence. Everyone would have plenty of nutritious food and, as a result, would have healthy lives. Tragic diseases, such as cancer and diabetes, would not exist. Every home in America would emulate the love that God intended the home to represent. America would be a place of peace and tranquility, a place of refuge from the world, where relationships are warm and close, and every person is cherished as a unique creation of God. We would encourage and strengthen each other, and love and laughter would be rampant, not turmoil, miscommunication, anger, strife, and despair.
I have a dream…that every man, woman, and child would be treated with dignity and respect despite their economic status or the color of their skin.
I have a dream…that our politicians would serve the American people because they love our country and want to preserve and better our country for their children and grandchildren’s future. There would be no bribes, corruption, lies, cover-ups, or unethical behavior. All politicians would serve as unto the Lord.
I have a dream…that no one would be in debt, especially our government. People would live within their means, and no one would live paycheck to paycheck. Families would save for things they want and need, and paying on credit would be eradicated from our vocabulary. Instant gratification would be a term no one could identify with. Instead, we would know the pleasure of finally receiving what has been long saved and worked for.
I have a dream…where elderly people are not forced to work to survive and have to decide between eating or paying for their medicines and health care.
I have a dream…that our troops and veterans would be treated as heroes and taken care of because they put their lives on the line for you and me to keep our freedom, not forgotten in empty casket memorials.
I have a dream…that illegal aliens would take the necessary steps to become citizens of the United States and the official language would be English.
Last, but certainly not least, is the biggest dream of all…that God would once again be welcomed in the public square and every man, woman, and child would know about Him, accept Him, honor Him, and live to glorify Him.
Together we CAN make a difference for His Kingdom and America! Blessings until we meet again.
