Texas Sen. Ted Cruz met with President-elect Trump late Tuesday afternoon. (AP Photo/David J. Phillip, File)Texas Sen. Ted Cruz met with President-elect Trump late Tuesday afternoon, hours after the incoming Republican president convened a meeting of his top transition staffers to review key appointments he will need to make before his inauguration in mid-January.

"Sen. Cruz is pleased to have the opportunity to meet with President-elect Trump in New York today," Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said in a statement.

The Texas senator is not involved in Trump's transition operation, though Frazier said he is eager to assist the next administration with its goals of repealing Obamacare and pursuing "cost-effective, patient-centered health care reform," appointing conservative justices to the Supreme Court, enforcing immigration laws and passing legislation "that will create more good-paying jobs for the American people."

"On behalf of the 27 million Texans he represents, the senator looks forward to assisting the Trump administration in achieving these objectives," she said.

I feel that Rudy would be good as SOS, Newt would be the better choice. Cruz or Trey for SCOTUS . Rudy would be better at AG or FBI , ( real law enforcer ) but he seems tired of law enforcement.

Actually, if I was Trump, I wouldn't give Cruz the time of day unless or until he promises, in writing, not to run for the presidency in 2020.

Even still, for a man of Cruz's caliber to turn his back on the natural born Citizen clause is unconscionable.

AND he wants to allow for thousands and thousands of more H1B visas.  Cruz.....NO

You know, I am beginning to look at this issue with a different view. Sure, laws should be firmly in place that will ensure qualified Americans fill these position first, but if Trump is to achieve his $250 billion in repatriated profits, the sheer numbers of foreign professionals must also be significantly increased.

You do realize that Trump is the one who backed out of the pledge back in March so none of the others were held to it, right?  And that Cruz DID what the pledge said, to back the GOP and to support (not endorse) the GOP candidate, which he did by speaking at the convention. Where's your outrage about Trump backing out first and all of the others who didn't even bother to go to the convention?

You also realize, of course, that according to SCOTUS on many occassions (such as Elk vs Wilkins), the 14th Amendment was a reconstruction amendment ONLY and Cruz is exactly right on his stand of it?  Have you read anything at all other than what comes out of the mouth of Trump who is so ignorant of the Constitution that he said that judges can pass bills??

Yes, a little. As you may know, SCOTUS hasn't directly addressed this issue. The 14th Amendment didn't change Art. II §I Cl. 5 natural born citizen requirement. Cruz was as much ineligible before the 14th Amendment as he was after the 14th Amendment. No one born with a foreign allegiance can possibly be an Art. II §I Cl. 5 natural born citizen as the term was originally used.

Moreover, the British did away with assigned allegiances at birth in the 19th Century. For Cruz to be a natural born Canadian at birth his parents would have had to request Canadian citizenship rather than U.S. Citizenship, as at the time of Cruz's birth Canada did not allow dual citizenship.

Not according to the courts, which is why Trump dropped his suit.  He knew he couldn't win.

The suit wasn't brought by Trump, it was brought by supporters.  And second.....Just because this judge says it's not so doesn't mean it is.  Have you not seen how corrupt our government and court systems have become?

It didn't just go to one judge.  It's gone to many, unlike obama's.  Every one said that Cruz is eligible.  There are some good articles online that explains it.

Then provide the links that validate your statements

"Everyone said that Cruz is eligible." Fair enough, but what do you say? Why do you think Cruz is eligible?

“He’s (Cruz) a Canadian,” said Toronto lawyer Stephen Green, past chairman of the Canadian Bar Association’s Citizenship and Immigration Section.

Cruz verified that he was Canadian when he renounced his citizenship in 2014. His campaign denied that he was Canadian, but his actions spoke otherwise.

Angry Dem Impeachment ‘Witness’: Pam Karlan Donated Thousands To Hillary And Was On Clinton’s List For Potential SCOTUS Nomination

The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jerrold Nadler, kicked off its first impeachment circus Wednesday morning.

The four ‘witnesses’ testifying have never actually witnessed any of Trump’s dealings with Ukraine firsthand — the four witnesses are law professors offering legal analysis.

One of the witnesses the Dems rolled out is an angry Hillary Clinton donor who was on Crooked’s list for a potential Supreme Court nomination.

No wonder why this unhinged, dowdy woman is so pissed off!

“Professor Pam Karlan donated thousands of dollars to Democrats and was on Hillary Clinton’s list for a potential Supreme Court nomination. So she certainly has no vendetta against President Trump,” GOP Rep. Mark Walker said.

Congressman Walker also pointed out that Noah Feldman, the Dems first partisan witness in Wednesday’s hearing tweeted about impeaching Trump right after he was sworn in.

Meet Noah Feldman, House Democrats first partisan witness.

Look at the date of this tweet. He has been trying to get @realDonaldTrump impeached since 46 days into his presidency.

His reason? Trump criticized President Obama.

This is a sham impeachment with sham witnesses. https://twitter.com/NoahRFeldman/status/839185127494254592

The next witness, Karlan, has donated thousands to Democrats and was on Hillary Clinton’s list for a potential Supreme Court nomination.

So she certainly has no vendetta against @realDonaldTrump.

These witnesses are as serious as House Democrats impeachment case: not at all.

The entire sham show trial is stacked with partisan hacks who have wanted to impeach Trump from the moment he won in November of 2016.

Norm Eisen, the Democrats’ counsel who is blasting Trump and questioning witnesses in Wednesday’s show trial, tweeted about impeaching Trump before Donald Trump was even sworn into office!
