Lawmakers blast VA for 'shockingly unethical' bonus fraud

A bipartisan group of senators demanded the head of the Department of Veterans Affairs hold VA executives accountable for a "shockingly unethical" plan to give themselves raises.

Led by Sen. Johnny Isakson, chairman of the Senate VA Committee, and Sen. Richard Blumenthal, the committee's ranking Democrat, the lawmakers urged VA Secretary Robert McDonald in a letter Tuesday to "live up" to promises made during his confirmation hearing last summer and rid the agency of employees who break the rules.

The senators cited a September inspector general report that they said "outlines an orchestrated scheme ... to skirt salary and bonus limitations ... by unnecessarily relocating executives and using those moves to justify increases in their pay."

That report had found a number of VA executives created job openings for themselves in other cities, then volunteered to fill the positions by taking advantage of a VA program that pays moving expenses for agency employees.

This is why our deficit is growing by leaps and bounds. Is this going to be another "Dog and Pony"?

The VA should be completely dismantled.   The Obama administration can’t even make the VA system work for our vets, what makes anyone think Obamacare  will work for the rest of us.

Golly didn't Bernie Saunders tell us he was so proud of him being in charge of the VA group when Dems where holding the chairmanships.

The Vietnam and Thailand VETS keep dying off without medical and benefits and they are doing it to the new Veterans.. Look on the streets at the Vets that fought for your freedom. They should put McCain and ALL the rest of them of the FRONT lines along with our so called chairman JEFF  MILLER..

These worthless people have known for along time how VETERANS were being treated. They are all bunch of LIARS. Does anyone really think that anything has changed since Obama was installed?  The vets and our military are suffering worse than any time in history. American citizens should be ashamed of themselves.

These S O B should be arrested for fraud . Fired & loose all of their federal benefits  .This kind of crap is what is wrong with our Nation . .This MONEY belongs too our VETS . GET IT BACK TOO THEM NOW . GOD HELP THE USA .

Why would Obama punish his fellow MUSLIMS? Can anyone name one person that has had any type of punishment?  We have some dumb citizens in this country.

Why do we need VA hospitals?  Why can't the armed forces allow injured soldiers to select their own treatment and simply pay a large portion of the medical bills just like private insurance does?

Are the injuries that soldiers suffer so different from those of civilians that civilian doctors cannot possibly treat them?  Is it impossible for a civilian hospital to develop the expertise and acquire the necessary equipment?  Do returning soldiers have to be sent to special hospitals so that they won't infect civilians or talk in their sleep and reveal sensitive information?  I'm not aware of anything like that.

My impression is that VA hospitals are typically outdated and maybe even deadly.  An injured soldier is better off avoiding them entirely.

It seems to me that it is long past time to get the government out of the medical business.

Trump said he would do that for vets. Va system is money pit for those elected. They can funnel off millions each year. As a vet I;ll enjoy going to other doctors and hospitals when needed.

Florida Sheriff — “I Will Not Enforce Assault Weapons Ban, Neither Will Most Sheriffs”

Dennis Lemma, who is the Sheriff in Central Florida’s Seminole County, told a group of 2nd Amendment activists recently that he would not enforce an assault weapons ban that could soon become Florida law if the “Ban Assault Weapons Now” amendment passes in the Sunshine State.

According to News965, the ban has the following specifications.

The amendment proposed in the state legislature would ban possession of assault weapons, which are defined as “semiautomatic rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition at once, either in fixed or detachable magazine, or any other ammunition feeding device.”

Lemma, an ardent supporter of the 2nd Amendment and a first term sheriff who is running for re-election, said this about whether or not he would enforce such a law.

“It’s not only that I wouldn’t, the majority of sheriffs across the state would not do it,” Lemma said in the video. It’s up to the sheriffs what they are willing to enforce.”
