The NFL Era is Dead - ToddSocial - Medium

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday that he hopes former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick will help "guide" the league on issues pertaining to social justice.

The commissioner also said during the interview with ESPN's Mike Greenberg that he would "support" and "encourage" a team signing the controversial signal caller to its roster.

Kaepernick has not played in the league since 2016 when he was released by the 49ers following the season after losing his starting job to Blaine Gabbert. During that same season, he ignited controversy by kneeling during the national anthem at the start of games to protest racial injustice and police brutality in the United States.

"Well, listen, if he wants to resume his career in the NFL, then obviously it's going to take a team to make that decision," Goodell said. "But I welcome that, support a club making that decision and encourage them to do that.

  • This is total insanity.  He was not exactly a great quarterback and when he started the kneeling down he just about destroyed the NFL single handedly.  Any team who is stupid enough to take him on should loose every game.  Plus why is Goodell getting millions of dollar salary - I sure would like to know what he does that is worth that kind of money.

  • Remember, this all started when Kaepernick declined to exercise his option to play for the 49ers one more year and went into the free agent market. He got no offers until 2 years later when the Seahawks gave him a tryout and offered him a position as backup to Russell Wilson, which Kaepernick refused. He doesn't want to play unless he's "The Man", and no team thinks he can be "The Man" for them. HIs limited skillset was exposed during his last season, and no team is going to restructure its offense to suit  him as the 49ers did, much less take him as a backup and have to endure his incompatibility with whatever system they have should they have to play him. Goodell has to stop kissing butt

    • At least we have a great leader in Trump who said it best, "Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired!" Trump has stuck to that line and will continue to stick to his principles as Trump always does. I love that guy!

  • Even if only one team member kneels or disrespects usa flag, I'm done. I have many many better things to do than watch a goofy game where players make way more money than almost anyone in America, then spit on it's citizens. I stopped watching football long ago and do not miss it.

    • I've breen a Packer fan since 1963 and for the first time ever I won't be watching their games so long as this lunacy continues.

    • If we all stick together and to our principles, and if we all boycott the games, the NFL (NBA and NASCAR) will be forced to reverse that lunarcy. We are the large but silent majority. So, they will feel the pinch when we stay away from the games. Besides, we also have Trump who is on our side and who will make sure this idiocy will be reversed. Just wait and see! It will happen before the end of the summer. Mark my words!

  • are you kidding me?

  • What's Football?

  • I am no longer interested in the NFL, the NBA, or NASCAR. - Does anyone know why they all bow to the racist terrorists in the streets?

  • Goodell seems to have swallowed an alful lot of the Kool Aid supplied by the commie Kaepernick and/or the marxist co-founder of BLM.

The only signs I have purchased have nothing to do with sports - they are bumper stickers and lawn signs declaring my support for Trump.
