The Democrat Party on Monday evening tweeted, then deleted, an attack on Mount Rushmore, negatively portraying an upcoming event President Trump is planning ahead of Independence Day at the historic monument to four great American presidents.

“Trump has disrespected Native communities time and again,” the Democrats wrote on Twitter, with a link to an article in the British newspaper the Guardian, in the now-deleted tweet. “He’s attempted to limit their voting rights and blocked critical pandemic relief. Now he’s holding a rally glorifying white supremacy at Mount Rushmore–a region once sacred to tribal communities."

The linked story from the Guardian quotes Oglala Lakota tribe member Nick Tilsen, the president of local activist group “NDN Collective,” as calling Mount Rushmore a symbol of “white supremacy.”

“Mount Rushmore is a symbol of white supremacy, of structural racism that’s still alive and well in society today,” Tilsen said, a message echoed by the Democrat Party’s formal Twitter account.

The Guardian piece goes on to note that Tilsen wants to see Mount Rushmore torn down altogether.

The push from the Democrats to target Mount Rushmore comes as leftist activists tear down monuments and statues around the country. But the move by the Democrat Party to put the iconic American mountainside monument to four great American presidents–George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln–in the crosshairs by claiming it represents “white supremacy” when it clearly does not may go too far for some voters.

  • BO is not gone.  People like him are never gone.  Just go under the radar for a while, then re emerge.  He's been indicating he wants back in the fray!  A very scary man.

  • America for American! All others get out!!!

  • On September 11. 2001 we were attacked by an enemy who hated our way of life, Today we are attack by a worse enemy this are American citizens who don't know our history because they had been thought by a liberal education a different view of this country and to make it worse we have political leaders that think the same. What make me mad is to see American burning up the flag. The same flag that will cover my coffin. I am a Vietnam veteran who put his life in the battle field so that American will  have the right to  burn  our  flag and not worried about the government to arrest him and send to prison.

  • What happened to Native Americans was a tragedy.  However, we have to remember that they fought amongst themselves and killed one another for resources and wars and struggles for resources have  always been a part of human history (including all races).  Unfortunately for Native Americans, the settlers were more advanced technologically and Native Americans were driven off their lands and forced to live on reservations under very trying conditions, which was another tragedy. While it is a sad history, what is done is done and it can never be undone.  The best we can do now is to help improve oppotunities for them and improve their quality of life.  What happened to the Native Americans was not white supremacy, rather it was technological supremacy.

    • Native American's failed to adapt and improvise... too, learn from and assimilate the technologies of the new world... they also had a very nasty habit of engaging one another in tribal wars while facing a superior common enemy.  There are examples of native tribes that were successful in their engagement with the new world... they adapted and improvised... kept what portions of their culture that served them and adopted the technologies and culture of the western world where necessary to preserve their tribes.  Most of those successful tribes were in the East and were generally smaller native tribal groups.

  • What a joke who is going to tear down Rushmore.  That would be a moment to see the Gov of S Dakota tell them get the hell away.  The pres has not insulted one indian as far as I know read bury my heart at wounded knee if you want to see what was done to the indians.  That is just a small part of it.

The dems are using a great strategy defund the police, rip down America and end all of our history God and the constitution sure go ahead run on that.

  • The Democrats had better watch just who they are demonizing. Most of the people, groups and policies they and their left leaning base are railing against were instituted by Democats. These facts are not learned in secondary school and certainly are not in most college. The Democrat party created and has sustained institutional racism through out the parties lifetime. Someday people will learn the truth, but in the mean time we need to get out to vote in November, take back the House, keep the Senate and the Whitehouse.

  • If anybody has a right to accuse this country of "structural racism," it is our indigenous people. However, once again the SJWs are on the wrong road. You don't end something "structural" with symbolic gestures. You end it with concerted action at the molecular level to achieve changes. My model for this is Bruce Lee. He was consistently told that the American audience was not ready for a real Asian star; this continued up to the the TV series Kung Fu was launched. Lee had the original idea and worked to develop the concept, but the studio chose David Carradine to play the part of Kane. Lee kicked (almost literally) the door down with Enter The Dragon. Now leading Asian performers are par for the course. Yes, there have been indigenous actors (Will Sampson comes to mind), but that is not the point. You pick a target personal to you and go after it. You fight for and achieve change at the personal level, not with symbolic protests.
