The selection of civil rights attorney Kristen Clarke as Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice provides a glimpse into the changes President-elect Biden plans for the Justice Department.
Clarke has supported defunding police departments and is a proponent of Black Lives Matter.
Clarke, the current President of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and former manager of the Civil Rights Bureau of the New York Department of Law, has previously claimed that black people have “superior physical and mental abilities.”
On his campaign website, Biden posted his plan for justice reform. His plan includes using the Justice Department to address what he calls “systemic misconduct in police departments and prosecutors’ officers.”
