The Tug of War for Cuba Begins

4064028843?profile=originalIn the midst of President Obama increasing Sanctions on Russia, he announces a prisoner exchange with Cuba.

While the media has focused on the idealogy of such a bold move by President Obama, they ignore
the current climate of America's relations with Russia.

Russia has been making their presense known in Cuba this past year, as confirmed by the Pentagon
in April. Lt. Col. Tom Crosson, a Pentagon spokesman stated "We are aware that the Russian ships
Viktor Leonov and Nikolay Chiker are currently operating in waters that are beyond U.S. territorial
seas but near Cuba”.

In July of this year, Russia re-opened their signals intelligence facility in Lourdes, south of
Havana which is just 155 miles from America after forgiving 90% of Cuba's unpaid Soviet-era debts,
which totalled $32billion.

Along with the prisoner exchange, President Obama is seeking to establish an Embassy in Havana and
ease sanctions with Cuba.

Right now President Reagan's Star Wars Program is looking pretty good. I just hope we win this
Tug-of-War.
