Paul Vallely of Stand Up America US, who is also helping to spearhead "Operation American Spring" beginning May 16th in DC, has suggested that to counter Obama's imperious overreaching that Congress should tender a vote of "no-confidence" against him.

Alternatively, a person on another conservative site recommended that the House censure Obama. For me at least, "censure" seems more impactful, more significant than merely a vote of no-confidence. So, perhaps censure is the better route to take.

In any event, I researched the matter of censure and found that while the process is, per intra- congressional rules, limited to members of Congress, in 1834 Pres. Andrew Jackson was censured by the Whig-dominated Senate. When the Democrats reclaimed the Senate in 1837, the censure was officially expunged from the records, suggesting to me that censure is of no small consequence to the parties affected. The net legal effect of the Jackson censure was nil; however, from a public relations standpoint, the evidence suggests it was, indeed, impactful.

It is interesting to note that to avoid the disgrace of impeachment, Pres. Clinton actually agreed with his Democratic supporters to accept being censured in lieu of the historical embarrassment of impeachment. Net effect: he was impeached anyway, only the second president, Andrew Johnson being the other in 1868, to have endured this shame. Neither, of course, was convicted and removed from office.

Censure is a formal public reprimand/rebuke for an infraction or violation. It appears nowhere in the Constitution and is, as said, an internal creation of Congress intended to deal with its own members--not sitting presidents, et. al. government officials.

That said, for those who opt to censure Obama, the precedent is there. The question is which poison would have the greater impact on public opinion and support for the president. A no-confidence vote or censure? I would say censure. It certainly can't hurt, and might actually further diminish Obama's credibility as Chief Executive and substantively impair his ability to govern or to otherwise perpetrate more unbridled mischief against the Republic, the Constitution and the American people.

My view is that to stem what appears to be a veritable flood of federal usurpations, we should commit to a multitude of remedies. As said, we can, after all, walk and chew gum at the same time. While censure is certainly a compelling action to take, we must also think in terms of what will actually stop this Progressive tyranny cold.  The obvious answer is, of course, State Nullification of all federal actions (legislation/court rulings/bureaucratic regulations/executives orders) which do not comport with the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the Land.

Realistically, all peaceful remedies should be on the table and vigorously acted upon until such time that constitutional order is restored, the doctrine of separation of powers is fully practiced, and co-equality of the States with the Federal Government is achieved.

Going forward, the most compelling remedial grassroots action we should all get solidly behind is, of course, "Operation American Spring" which will be launched in earnest on May 16th. I urge readers to check it out on the Patriots for America site. You have the option of participating in the protracted occupation or volunteering your services and talents in support of the operation.

Finally and very importantly, if all of these peaceful remedies fail to achieve our constitutional goals, then ALL other remedies sanctioned by our Founders and "natural law" must necessarily be relied upon by the American people. Let the Founders ALWAYS be our guide.

Postscript: Earlier this week, Mark Levin called on Congress to boycott Obama's State of the Union address this month. Boycott, censure, State Nullification. An unbeatable combination!

  • Diane, you are spot-on.  Her Thighness is a slick machine.  But we can be the sand in her machine.  On that lengthy list of To Do's, once in power, is her trial for treason and murder, etc.

Diane, once again I agree with you.  The vote I. D. Law must be on the To Do list.  The law must be drafted and passed.

Sue, et al, suppose we come into the elections with our presently elected still in place, and then we vote those who are up for re-election out (with the exception of true conservatives).  Then what.  We  need a TO DO list and a plan for many of the items on that list.   If PLAN A is not achieved, Sue, what is your PLAN B?  If PLAN A is achieved, the list could still perhaps be a valuable tool.  Let's keep thinking.  It is not over until its over.

  • George, I vote we do both!  Use them as pincers.

  • I forgot to place onto my list "To Do" that we should all support and be involved heavily not just with the OAS, censure, impeachment, no confidence, but also the Convention of States.  My apologies.  Thank-you, Dennis N. Carmickle !

  • Not to change the subject, but we MUSTmake voters show I.D.s because we know they win because they CHEAT. Notice too old Hillary is staying out of site til Champaign begins so the stupid low information people will forget all the crime's she's committed against americans. We need to keep reminding people and charges need to be brought against her for killing Americans for political gain.
  • Susan C.  That is also my understanding.

  • It's my understanding that a Military interim gov will be put in place until new elections are established. He will be tried for treason along with everyone who has facilitated this unconstitutional fraud. The military is involved with this effort.

  • By the way, I read so much about regaining power and re-establishing our government, but I read extremely little on what it is exactly that we will try to accomplish.  Any ideas on, not what we will undo, but what we will do that is new and whose advantages are for We the People in our daily come-and-go lives.

Fred Sherman writes: "A censure or vote of no confidence should happen before the state of the union address." " A censure or vote of no confidence should happen before the state of the union address."

Mark Levin says (paraphrased to an extent) that the Republicans in Congress should get up from their seats as BO begins to talk and leave the room.

The leaders of the OAS and many of our fellow Patriots are working diligently to create an incredible a historic march on Washington.  The Tea Party and other groups seem to be endorsing this event as well.

We have a very important election this year.  Every vote counts.  The lack of voting by any conservative in this election counts, too…against us!

I think that we need to do two things.  Give all of the above a chance to work, if not with BO and his crowd, if not with the RINO crowd, then with the US citizenry and with those in congress who DO support us. If all fails, well then……….

God has NOT left us.  He is waiting for you to act.  The prayers have been said, are being said, and will be said, all in earnest.  Again I argue for patience and all the above.

A young soldier found a young brother and sister hiding as their parents had been killed in the war.  He volunteered to take them on a very long journey through the battle area and then to Philly to their aunt who could care for them.  As the children were scared, the soldier gave them each a sturdy coin and explained that the coins were lucky.  During their journey, they confronted by the hiding enemy and the young soldier was shot in the chest.  He went down in a heap…..but rose back up.  Seeing this, the enemy fled.  The coins had mysteriously found their way back into the chest pockets of the soldier.  The children had never returned the coins to the soldier.  The bullets were stopped by the coins.  The children were united with their aunt.  The soldier returned to duty. The war was the French and Indian War and the soldier was George Washington.  God was with us then; He is with His children now, too!   I resubmit:

    No confidence?   YES

    Censure?            YES

    Impeach?            YES

    Go to OAS?          YES

    Help OAS?            YES

    Get Involve with OAS? YES

    Any questions?      NO

  • Everyone is afraid of being called a racist. This Congress has every reason to impeach this man, but due to the fact that the GOP actually support his "BIG GOVERNMENT" agenda nothing will ever be done. We must as individual states convene to stop this big government agenda. That is the only way we will survive as a "FREE PEOPLE".

  • A censure motion is different from a no-confidence motion. "No Confidence" leads to compulsory resignation whereas "Censure" is meant to show disapproval and does not result in the resignation.  Censure motions need to state the reasons for the motion while no-confidence motions do not require reasons to be specified.  Therefore, I vote for No Confidence.
