Two hundred and fifty years ago, American colonists who criticized King George III would find themselves arrested and thrown into prison. Sometimes they lost their businesses, homes and families because of their sedition to the crown. The colonists had no freedom of speech to criticize the king, parliament or even a British citizen.
When James Madison and George Mason penned the Bill of Rights, there was a reason why they made the freedom of speech part of the First Amendment. It was the right to speak freely and openly criticize the government that was a right they fought for. They knew that in order to have a republic, not a democracy, the freedom of speech was a vital importance to its success. (In a democracy, people don’t need the right for free speech as the people elect their own dictators.)

Over recent years, we have seen our freedom of speech being challenged and diminished by the whining’s of a liberal minority. Now, we are on the verge of losing our First Amendment right to freedom of speech.
Massachusetts Senator Edward Markey (D) and New York Representative Hakeem Jeffries (D) have introduced the Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014. The opening of the bill reads:
“To require the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to update a report on the role of telecommunications, including the Internet, in the commission of hate crimes.”
“The report required under subsection (a) shall— “
‘‘(1) analyze information on the use of telecommunications, including the Internet, broadcast television and radio, cable television, public access television, commercial mobile services, and other electronic media, to advocate and encourage violent acts and the commission of crimes of hate, as de-scribed in the Hate Crime Statistics Act (28 U.S.C. 534 note);”

"Whose morality do we teach? Yours?" in the '60's, left a void then and is creating a huge chasm now. Teaching amorality doesn't work, unless your ultimate goal is to destroy the people's capacity for self-government. Agreed completely, and due to our fallen, or primitive (reptilian), souls we will make the wrong choice, I submit, most times-especially so for the young.

In middle age, I look back at years spent wondering the latte-towns Santa Cruz, Ashland, Eugene, having driven through others Boulder, CO, or Taos, NM--many now towns of the wealthy boomer generation. They do want to replace our foundational religion with chaos. A system based upon the individuals spirit and not that of the group. This has a biologically selfish appeal, but the entire concept of government is by and for the people. We the people have stood by and watched this transpire, but I believe most of the blame falls on the media. So now we have a system where the children summon their inner demons at will, attacking the elderly at will and destroying their lives and often their relationships with their family, we have developed a narcissistic people whose credo is it's all about me. Not sure, but National Review may have written an article, "A Nation of Sub-adults."
What can never be spoken of is who is pulling these strings. And then, I remind myself to never say never again
If these Senators are so bent on exposing Hate Crime, then they should begin by extricating the bullies at the White House. Their second house cleaning should begin at their own chamber by removing their lying Senate leader. And then, they should follow that with a full reversal of all signed law that has been written to provide a better opportunity to someone based on their skin color. Either you are an American Patriot, or you are not. It does not take skin-color or gender to decide this principle. So, the hyphen should be removed from all correspondence when it comes to being an American.

I believe you and I are more on the same page than you may realize because the theological conundrum you say I left out is in reality the basis of freedom on which I indicated our system of self-government was designed and built. Free will when exercised within the context of respect for (tolerance of) the rights of other individuals to exist and do likewise, is the foundation upon which our freedoms, our system of self-government and our free enterprise system rely and thrive. When that trust, tolerance and respect are given short shrift out of greed or a desire for power and influence, more regulation, restrictive laws and government interference are substituted to fill the void created by the lack of self-control and lack of tolerance. Moral choices vs government control to provide the protections that come naturally from a "moral and religious people" and for which John Adams said our system of government was designed. "It is wholly unsuitable to the government of any other", he said.
What has been missing from the discussion is the false premise which the government and the LEFT use to engender fear of religion, religious people and religious influence in our lives - replacing it with failed philosophical concepts in public education like "Moral Relativism", "Secular Humanism", "Values Clarification", etc. in an attempt to "improve tolerance". In reality, it has marginalized the universal truths and values upon which true tolerance is built.
Taking away - vilifying - the underpinning moral principles that have built Western Civilization and that the Hippies began undermining by asking, "Whose morality do we teach? Oh no, we have the freedom of speech anywhere, anytime, and we can say what we want! This is horrific and must be stopped! Who the hell are these 2 lousy democrats think they are? 2 against 300 million? I don't think so. If this passes, it better be more than just a march on DC! Why? Because you can't protest which is our right! If Congress passes this, I don't know, we are being muted, silenced, and our rights are being RIPPED away from us. For Addis Fuerst: Do you realize this would silence the media like Fox news and anyone else that talks against Obama and his cohorts and the present administration if they didn't like what's being said? It would also ban any Christian religious programs or political programs from tv and radio. And if you have a conversation on your phone with a friend like I do every day about what's going on in our govt. they can silence your phone. In other words, they would be able to listen in on everything and silence us. And this TP website would also be removed. We would be like people that are blind, deaf and mute in the world. We would be oblivious to everything going on around us. That is pure Communism and it must not be allowed to happen. If you've ever heard of Radio Free Europe that's what would happen. Until the broadcasters were caught broadcasting to the uninformed citizens and no doubt be shot. I already think they're messing with our cell phone reception at the towers. Everyone I know that have the high tech cell phones are having trouble with dropped calls and problems hearing one another. I think they're weakening the power. But I have a cheap little $50 flip phone I bought in 2007 and I haven't had any trouble-yet. I'm hanging onto it and refusing to upgrade for as long as I can because I think they're only concentrating on the high tech ones.

No More Compromise
The world said we were to harsh , and that we spoke against their lives.
So we held our peace around them, and began to compromise.
They said our teachings to condemning. That their voices were not heard.
Trying hard not to offend them, we watered down God's Holy word.
They said our lives were not worth living. That our God did not exist.
We were fools for just believing, in a God that they dismissed.
The church became deathly silent, hardly speaking words at all.
And if we did they said we're judging. So they started changing laws.
Taking from us all our freedoms so we could no longer speak,
But they could not quench God's Spirit, in his children who believe.
We started seeking God the Father , and repented of our sins .
From the heavens he then heard us, cleansed and made us whole again.
Pressing in ever closer, to the Spirit of the Lord.
His anointing started flowing, stronger now then had before.
In his presence a fire growing, spreading far across the earth ,
His Holy Spirit rests on his people. Now preparing to give birth.
With a boldness in the Spirit ,our eyes began to shine God's light .
Taking up Gods Holy armor we are now prepared to fight.
With the Father now that's leading, speaking boldly in Christ's name .
Battle lines have now been drawn, for we no longer are the same.
With God's fire within our belly, in one voice we now stand.
As we move in his Spirit ,God is shaking up the land .
Standing strong against the evil ,that had taken hold of man.
We are now a mighty Army, as we follow God's command.
Across the world, we are standing ,as his witness forever more.
And to the evil we're declaring, Christ is the king and lord of Lords.
In his presence brightly shining, in our garments now made white.
A shout from heaven of his coming ,as His trumpet splits the sky.
In an instant we start rising to the heavens full of light.
As we meet our blessed savior, in the twinkling of an eye.
As we rise God's judgements falling, on a earth of sin and pride.
Who would not hear his Spirit calling, and refused God's Son that died

At this point in time , there is no more time to play Church .

Glenn Modracek had some great comments about God and Natural Law. Agreed, almost with all of it. You leave out another theological conundrum, that of free will. Given a deeper understanding of Nature, men might utilize natural law to test their other fellow men, and for bad purposes. The tested have the choice, as many describe it, of accepting or rejecting God's grace. That is what has transpired in our land and perhaps worldwide. Humanity has VOLUNTARILY turned their back on the most high. And the seventh vial is opened.
