coal (12)

The Future of Eastern Kentucky

We at The Future of Eastern Kentucky have started a petition to send to Frankfort and DC demanding them to bring jobs to Eastern, KY so each and every family has a fair chance to achieve a better living. We are poverty stricken from the impact of job loss here; we want a better life for families in this area. We ask each and every one of you to sign our petition and have your voice heard! The recent loss of jobs in the coal industry struck a devastating impact on each and every person in Appalachia. I have listened to many people say they are not affected by coal so why should they worry. What people don’t realize is every dollar that passes through this region has been in either a miner of someone who is related to the industries hand before ours. With the above being said we just want to clarify that our petition only deals with the coal industry as to bringing jobs in to replace the ones lost due to downfall of coal in Eastern Kentucky. We aren’t Anti anything, we are Pro People, Pro Jobs, and Pro Community. Our goal is to get both the Democrat and Republican Parties working together to bring back jobs to our great community we live in. We have KY Congress members, KY House of Representatives, and US Senate KY Representatives that are members of this group willing to listen to our ideas and concerns as well as share theirs. Please join our site and sign the petition if you haven't.

 Thank you

The was an article published that explained even 60% + of republicans wanted alternative energy and knew that the global warming was happening, etc.,.  I disagreed and this is my response and thoughts below:

I wonder how the questions were structured and where the survey was taken. There are several reports out that state the global temps are down for the last 10 years and a Russian report that states they expect global temps to be lower for 250 years at least.

I think the carbon trading scheme is more like a Ponzi scheme and will enrich the owners of the exchanges, which include Al Gore, Soros and others. I do agree that we should use our 200 to 300 hundred years supply of coal, natural gas, oil to be energy independent ASAP. The US is now the largest producer of oil, passing Russia and we could produce much more that current levels, as our increases have been from private lands and not federal lands. Obama essentially shut down our shale oil production sites, as he reduced them by 2/3tds. We should allow the market place to develop alternative sources without federal tax subsidies, which was NINE billion USD for ethanol alone in 2013. The EPA went around Congress declaring CO2 a pollutant so that they could regulate almost every aspect of our life. The new MACT, Utility Standards which included social costs for the first time and was based on 20 year old data have made new coal fired plants nearly impossible. Obama explained it as saying you can open a new coal fired plant but it will bankrupt you. The EPA is also working to fulfill Obama's promise that under his policies energy prices will necessarily sky rocket. High energy prices hit the poorest the hardest and also cost jobs.    Germany electric rates have gone from $.06 a kilowatt to over .20 a kilowatt as they went more green and into the carbon credit scheme. This has prompted the industry in Germany to warn that he rates are affecting businesses and future growth. Spain went broke going green and it makes no sense until it does make sense, which means we should let industry develop it as needed and allow research at universities with very limited Federal grants.

of course, there are economical green energy like hydro and other low emissions like natural gas and nuclear that we should use now. W should not shut down coal plants and allow incremental improvements vs. all or nothing EPA approach under Obama.

I requested EPA information under  FOIA relating to the new Utility Standards, but the new standards are out there that include the new social costs. This new formula is like the old accountant joke, when asked what is the answer they shut the door and ask," What do you want it to be"?  This is how many of Obama's czars and agencies answer questions or make regulations. It is ideology not solid science , it is a religion of global climate change, not settled science as Ozone AL likes to often state. People that dissent should not be silenced or punished, as Al Gore has stated. All evidence should be reviewed and so should where the money flows. Investigate Al's and Soros ownership of exchanges, it is estimated as a trillion dollar business! The CO2, which until last year was a useful gas that plants must use to produce O2.

CO2 levels and temps were much higher millions of years ago and there was no man made pollution.

Sea levels have been 300 feet lower recently, geologically speaking during the last ice age where ice was 6 miles deep over much of the present day US land mass.

Sea Ice is 60% larger this year, as temps drop globally.

Man does contribute .05% to 1 % of the total emissions and much of the pollution control efforts make tiny impacts, but can cost billions while re-distributing the wealth of the west. Obama favors this re-distribution.

Often, only the foreign press will report about this almost religious issue in the west , global climate cooling/warming/change. Those Crazy Russians also reported that they may can explain why so much natural gas is available and seems to continue to grow. They think it is given off by the Earth's mantel , which would mean an essentially endless supply until the Earth's mantel cools off when the planet dies in several billon years.

Maybe some, ( GORE,SOROS and OTHERS) do not want a cheap, clean source of energy? Before just attacking my position, investigate the issue yourself.

War on Coal and America- Obama can do that!

Obama has had the EPA write new and never before used regulations that start his war on coal and Americans. While he may hesitate attacking foreigners, he has no such issues declaring and waging war on American energy and our citizens. After all, how do you put America in its place? One great way is to drive up energy costs, killing jobs while you say how you want just the opposite, which is Obama's game.

AS Obama said, you will be able to open a coal fired plant, but you will go bankrupt. That is all related to the new Utility Standards and the new emissions limit related to coal use. First, Obama had the EPA rule CO2, literally the air our of your mount and what plants use to make oxygen is a pollutant. Now, limiting the amount of CO2 to lower than possible for a coal fired they will not build a new one. If they improve one it must be brought up , so that will kill them.

This is just the beginning .

Foreign Deaths Syria, Egypt and Mexico?

Yes, it is terrible about all of the foreign violence and deaths. But, what about the 45,000 plus people murdered in MEXICO in the last few years. Yes, more than all of those other places far away and our troop losses in two wars! I care about all of them and especially Muslim terrorists killing everyone everywhere. What should we do about the country south of our border and the literal bleed over our border into various cities in America?

We should stop foreign aid, strengthen our military and put troops on our border helping to actually seal it ASAP. WE have bad guys coming over with criminals mixed in with people who just want to work.  Now, over 15% of Mexico's population is in the US illegally. Billions were given to illegals in just earned income credit, not to mention other benefits. I know our government tells people that, if you do not have a social security number you can still apply for food stamps and other assistance. I am sure there is no abuse of these programs, Yeah right. Regardless, we need to address the violence and illegals issue. How many illegals and related gang members are in our jails? Google it and you might be surprised. What does that cost? We are so PC that we will not place troops on the border like we did in the 1800's, but we should do so and reduce troops over seas. WE need a fence to keep people out not in the US. The border fence is not the Berlin wall , as we will let anyone leave that wants to leave.

Obama has stated he want to weaken the US military cutting 12 brigades and greatly reduce spending. If allowed he will gut the military to levels not seen since before WWII. As then, enemies will think we are so weak and unable to respond that  world wide violence and attacks will increase. We know Hitler thought it would take us 20 years to respond to him and that encouraged him to attack other countries. He was wrong then, as we had a great manufacturing base. Now, as we have allowed our manufacturing to exit, incurred high electricity costs and have one of the highest in the world corporate tax while we allow credits for foreign tax and business relocation we can not react as quickly.

We sit on more oil reserves than all of the rest known oil reserves in the world and yet we have no energy policy and import half of our oil. This money spent on oil imports empowers our enemies and fuels the world wide terrorists organizations.  WE do not use our tremendous natural gas and coal reserves. In fact drilling on federal land is down  and oil production is only up because of private land production. the EPA and other agencies. My point is that if we used our domestic energy resources, become energy independent ASAP in a Manhattan type effort, cut foreign oil imports to zero, maintained a strong military, bring down electricity costs and fuel costs, used energy to decrease unemployment it would be better for America. Peace through strength is better than Obama's weak, lead from behind and a watered down federally feed education system. Anything that weakens the US and weakens State control, is bad for America and in turn is bad for the world.

Wish Our Congress had the resolve

If our Congress had have the resolve and intestinal fortitude that the Egyptians have we would watching impeachment proceeding today. How similar was their leader  to ours? Big promises, switch and bait, radicals in charge after the election, ignores the Constitution when it serves him and ignores Congress and the courts when it serves him. If after all of that and Fast n Furious, AG issues, Benghazi, IRS, NSA , ignoring courts orders and the will of Congress not one woman or man in the House will move for impeachment of Obama. They could also impeach other Federal officials, but nothing is done.

Our leader has gone so far that Russia is amazed how far and fast our system has fallen, as they commented in Pravda back a couple of years ago. Can you imagine what they think now. Obama has declared he wishes we were no longer a nuclear power, but would settle for 300 or so nukes for a start. Below the level of China, so I am sure they and every other enemy of the US in the world could not be happier with Obama's position. Add his plan to give away our tax dollars while tripling our budget deficit and the must be ecstatic. He wants to redistribute as much as he can, which is all cap and trade is about except for the credit traders and related fees, which is AL Gore's piece of the pie. Obama's assault of every aspect of America, to transform it, attacks every part of our nation. NASA is re-tasked to Muslim outreach and climate change research. Military will be downsized by 12 brigades among other demoralizing actions. 1.8 billion ammo rounds purchased for Homeland Security along with riot and other gear, War on coal, war over with the Muslim terrorists, at least from our side, there are many more examples and issues, which I know Congress is aware of and still they do nothing.

Evil dwells where good men do nothing and nothing is what our elected representatives are doing. Aside from unlawful actions all we can do is pray and wait for the next election cycle. I will be looking for new State representatives and new national party to take over.

Obama continues his successful march to diminish and reduce America to a second class non super power without any moral compass. In my opinion, his actions make him the worse President, but in his mind he has nationalized health care, placed more people on welfare than ever, increased spending to highest level in our history along with the highest deficit, on the road to triple what Bush left him with in 2009. The assault continues on every front. Degrade, demoralize and downsize the military, CORE curriculum to continue to brainwash our children, Executive orders establishing his imperial Presidency, via climate control, EPA, CZARS, IRS, Energy, Land Management other departments doing his bidding. The EPA will cause 238 coal plants to close and may lose 84,000 coal related  jobs,  while the EPA goes around the will of our weak kneed Congress. Now the military standards will be changed along with the elimination of 10 Brigades, while the Islamic terrorists are still at war with us, along with Egypt and others. I am sure they are glad that we are not in a war footing and are leading from behind, as Obama stated.

China and Russia must be happy that Obama would like to have zero nuclear weapons, but would settle for a 45% unilateral reduction. Of course, Russia is developing a new treaty violating med range missile and China is also building their military ASAP. They just launched an air craft carrier, but Obama's staff has declared a WAR ON COAL, OMG. Obama lies about so many things and issues it is impossible to note them all here, but one big one is that the Earth's temperature has gone up. It has gone down for a decade and the Russian's say they expect it to drop for 200 to 250 years or more. Of course, that is d Is based on un biased research and not tied to the wests global cap and trade Ponzi scheme. More to follow....

Sherrod Brown to Ohio Miners: Go to Hell

During a recent debate, radical Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown told Ohio coal miners who have suffered under the wrath of Obama's destruction of the US coal industry, "There is no 'War on Coal', period."

Ohio coal miners have rightfully struck back.  Let's help the miners reclaim their jobs and dignity from those who would throw them on the ash heap of history.  Help spread the word.

500 Coal Miners Blast Obama

500 coal miners in Eastern Ohio blasted President Obama and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) demanding they stop the "absolute lies" and "false ads" they are running that claim to champion the cause of coal.

The Wheeling News and Intelligencer reports:

Coal miners at the American Energy Corp. Century Mine said they want President Barack Obama to stop what they term "the war on coal" - and to stop spreading "mistruths" about them.

Miners gathered Friday afternoon to express their opposition to Obama's energy and environmental policies, which they believe threaten their jobs. Miner Mitch Miracle read aloud a letter the miners mailed to Obama that outlines some of their concerns.

The miners said Obama's campaign team is running ads filled with "blatantly false" statements about the miners regarding their participation in Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's August campaign stop at the Century Mine. These ads assert that the miners were forced to attend the event by the mine's owner, Robert Murray.

"There are numerous false statements and absolute lies concerning our participation in this event, mostly started by a local 'shock jock' radio host," the miners' letter to Obama states. "Why would you (Obama) lie about the 500 working miners who have signed this letter? We, the employees of the Century Mine would request you immediately stop these false ads."

This summer, Murray Energy Corp., parent company of the Beallsville mine, cut or relocated 56 workers with the closure of the Red Bird West mine near Brilliant. Murray also cut 29 mining jobs from The Ohio Valley Coal Co.'s Powhatan No. 6 Mine. All of this was done, Robert Murray said, because of Obama's "war on coal."

Murray then hosted the Romney campaign stop in Beallsville in August, during which many miners appeared behind Romney as the former Massachusetts governor spoke about the need to protect coal mining jobs. In response to the assertion some have made about the miners being forced to appear with Romney, the miners made several points on Friday:

- No employee was forced to attend the event.

- There were no attendance records taken for hourly employees.

- There were absolutely no penalties or reprimands to those who did not attend.

- Due to security concerns for the Romney campaign, there was a list for transportation purposes.

- They were "honored" to host Romney at the mine.

As for anyone who claims the miners were forced to attend, those on-site Friday said these assertions probably came from "discharged or disgruntled former employees."

Much is at stake this November but perhaps no more so than the coal miners across the nation whose jobs and lives are at risk from a president that promised to bankrupt the companies they work for.

Today, January, 2012, we now know those Spanish projections were outrageously positive for the President’s green energy programs.  The real results have been much, much worse according to the liberal Washington Post.

$5 Million for One

Obama Green-Tech Job

In 2007-2008, candidate Barack Obama threatened “to create 5 million new green-tech jobs.”  Based upon green-energy experience in Spain where Europe’s strongest 1997 economy with only 4% unemployment became today’s second-weakest (Greece worst) with roughly 22% unemployment:  green-tech is 150 years ahead of its time:  just not practical.  Based upon Spain’s example expect 5 million subsidized green jobs to eliminate 11 million real jobs created by American free markets.  But only 10% of Spanish green jobs proved permanent meaning those 11 million real jobs would be lost for only 500,000 permanent green jobs paying $10-$14 per hour.  Spain’s permanent green jobs cost $676,000 each.

Today, January, 2012, we now know that those projections were outrageously positive for the President’s green energy programs.  The real results have been much, much worse according to the liberal Washington Post, of all surprising news sources:   after Solyndra’s bankruptcy resulted in the loss of all 1,100 jobs at the heavily subsidized plant the scoreboard reads:  a mere 3,545 (so-far) permanent green jobs created at a cost of nearly $19.5 billion or roughly $5 million per permanent green job created.

Green research continues but it’s probably a dead end.   Fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) which Obama hates (his EPA is now closing down coal-powered plants) still account for 82.1% of all American energy (coal 46%).  Nuclear energy accounts for roughly 10.2%. Hydro-electric plants yield 2.8%, all renewable and clean, but environmentalist want to remove most to benefit fish spawning.  The next largest renewable energy is about 2.7% from burning wood.  All the rest of green energy put together still accounts for less than wood-burning.  In 2013, a G.H.W. Bush-era uranium deal with Russia expires potentially driving nuclear electricity costs sky high.   Russia’s not eager to renew; environmentalists strongly oppose nuclear energy.

   Obama, of course,

     1) has refused to approve the Keystone Pipeline

     2) has refused to develop the Bakken Field oil fields in the Northern Missouri River Valley area.  With them the United States has larger oil resources than Saudi Arabia.  Thank God, some of that oil is beneath North Dakota Indian reservations.  The Native Americans don't have to follow Obama's stupid drilling moratoriums and they aren't.

     3) Still has a Gulf Drilling moratorium and a ban on Alaska's Anwar area

     4) Refuses to expand natural gas use (we have the largest deposits in the world)

     5) Refuses to consider use of marlstone a.k.a. "oil shale".  The Colorado, Utah and Wyoming deposits would yield enough gasoline to provide the entire world's needs for 600 years at present consumption levels.

    6) Refuses to quit his wasteful green-tech loan programs and will spend another $19.3 Billion in 2012 and 2013

    7) Listens to his environmental contingent and they want dams removed and their hydro-electricity with them; and oppose all nuclear-powered electricity generation.

Ya'all live long, strong and ornery,

Rajjpuut

“Think of it as ‘pathological science’ or ‘wishful-thinking energy.’ We’ve had ‘green energy’ for thousands of years in the form of water-wheels in some form or other and windmills have served for centuries to grind grain and other such tasks . . . the failing of green-technology isn’t that it doesn’t work. Much of it does work marvelously. The failing of green-tech is that RIGHT HERE and RIGHT NOW it can NOT be harnessed in such a fashion as to replace carbon-fuels. In fact after six decades of devotion to the ‘lovely idea and sweet promise of green energy evolution’ the largest and most reliable renewable energy source right here and right now in America is still the wood burning stove which generates 2.5%** of our nation’s energy. Today, 2011, coal still accounts for 48%.”

Solyndra, Bird-killing Windmills^^ or Cold Fusion:
Green-tech Still Leaves America ‘out in the Cold’

The Solyndra stimulus money and its ensuing bankruptcy form a classic case-study highlighting crony-capitalism and the dangers of the federal government picking winners and losers in the not-so-free market.  Latest information reveals Solyndra was one of 18 companies receiving more than $10 billion in total backing from the Department of Energy several others are also reportedly in financial difficulty.  The $535 million given as part of President Obama's 2009 stimulus program and his campaign promise to “create five million green-tech jobs” was clearly an abuse of American taxpayers. Since even before the Solyndra bankruptcy each of the 3,500 green-tech jobs so far created within the Obama $787 BIllion stimulus cost an average of $10.88 million dollars or a total of over $38 BIllion; and since Solyndra got more money from the federal coffers in 2009 than 35 of our states did, it’s NOT surprising that some of the biggest names in liberalism are running for the hills to avoid questions about the controversy.  Some of the less well-known names as well, the leadership at Solyndra, are running for the hills.  While protesting their innocence mightily to the mainstream media (MSM) and saying they “did nothing wrong,” the Solyndra honchos have revealed that they will as a group “avail themselves of their 5th Amendment rights against self-incrimination” and remain silent when they get to Capitol Hill. Privately Solyndra execs tell the MSM that the “falling price of ordinary solar panels” doomed their company.   More on this in a few paragraphs.
UNmentioned, by the way, in the president’s latest waves of attack on the “tax loopholes for the rich” is the fact that General Electric paid $0 taxes on $14 Billion in profits largely because of the tax loopholes favoring businesses regarded as “green” by the Obama administration and progressive politicians. This is one reason that GE’s CEO Jeffrey Immeldt was named Obama Jobs Czar even though 80% of his firm’s jobs are located outside this country.
Obama’s Energy Department meanwhile faces a September 30th deadline to give fourteen companies final loan guarantee approval totaling more than $9 billion. House Energy and Commerce Committee leaders Tuesday wrote Energy Secretary Steven Chu voicing concerns about rushing the approval process just to meet that deadline.  Back to Solyndra . . . Congressional subpoenas for Solyndra execs are likely to come to naught . . . the nothing we’ll learn from them is dwarfed, however, by the nothing the Obama administration understands about business or the free markets.
Here’s a  fact for you: despite all the presidential and vice-presidential ballyhoo about its promise; and the White House creating a Solyndra propaganda video . . . Solyndra never once showed anything close to even ONE profitable quarter in its five years of existence and their so-called “advanced designs” offered little more than a 12-15% greater efficiency for double or triple the money. Two weeks ago the FBI and Energy Department officials raided the Solyndra headquarters in California after claims that as little as six weeks ago the top company officials had sworn to California Rep. Henry Waxman (former chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee) that things were “looking up” and that the company expected “to double revenues in 2012.”
Rajjpuut takes that clever tongue-in-cheek “report” to mean that the Solyndra officials actually were telling the truth-expecting to lose twice as much money in 2012 . . . hence their September, 2011 bankruptcy filing. I remember a Lieutenant JG that once told our ET gang that we’d have “three times the liberty (time off)” we’d recently been given when the ship got to Hong Kong. Of course we all knew that since we’d been at sea for 46 straight days (a.k.a. recently), he wasn’t promising much since 3 X 0 = 0.
The Obama administration’s shocking lack of a clue when it comes to the verities of business came to light when the Energy Department official in charge of the loan program that subsidized Solyndra, Jonathon Silver, responded to a question about the Obama administration using stimulus money “to pick winners and losers” this way.
“The agency is not trying to pick winners or losers in the private sector” but merely “trying to assist companies that have already received substantial support from venture capitalists.”   Mr. Silver’s naïveté aside, he, of course sounds like he’s discussing a green-tech version of “too big to fail.” Mr. Silver, venture capitalism is very high risk investment. Typically 5/8 or over 62% of all venture capitalism endeavors lose money. The venture capitalist is looking for NOT the 38% of such efforts that make money, but for the 7% that make “a killing in the marketplace.” The federal government should not be gambling OR doing venture capitalism with taxpayer dollars . . . particularly after three straightforward warnings from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to the White House warned that backing Solyndra was NOT a wise move.
IF and WHEN a green-tech company run by a 21st Century version of Thomas Alva Edison actually produces viable mass-market green technology . . . the government won’t need to be involved at all.  Even the nutcases who “produced” muon-catalyzed fusion were offered hundreds of millions of dollars worth of start-up dough until their methodology was deemed fraudulent. Yet even today twenty-two years after that revelation, when Rajjpuut types in “cold fusion” in his web browser he gets 10,400,000 hits.  Green tech is a lot like high school in that being popular is no guarantee of lifelong success. The mere highly-attractive nature of an idea (like green energy or radical environmentalism) might be a selling point for science fiction writers but real science ain’t done that way. As Edison rued:  “science is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration” . . . and the Obama administration has not done its homework on either green tech or global warming (radical environmentalism).
They have also been utterly UNforthcoming when it comes to the reality of green-tech's effect on the environment.  For example we can't irrigate vegetables in California creating 40% UNemployment in some areas because tiny fish (the delta smelt) might get sucked into the piping; but the large electrical-generating windmills kill tens of thousands of birds and we hear not a peep (pun intended).  They don't dare tell us of the environmental cost of their ridiculous "Cash for Clunkers" program that drove the average cost of a used car today up by $1,900.  They don't tell us that hybrid "green" cars are about eight times more toxic in the manufacturing process than normal ICE (internal combustion engine) ones.
Think of Solyndra and other such frauds as ‘pathological science’ or ‘wishful-thinking energy.’ We’ve had real ‘green energy’ for thousands of years in the form of water-wheels in some form or other and windmills have served for centuries to grind grain and other such tasks . . . the failing of green-technology isn’t that it doesn’t work. Much of it does work marvelously. The failing of green-tech is that RIGHT HERE and RIGHT NOW it can NOT be harnessed in such a fashion as to replace carbon-fuels. In fact after six decades of devotion to the lovely idea and sweet promise of ‘a green energy evolution’ the largest and most reliable renewable energy source right here and right now in America is still the wood burning stove which generates 2.5%** of our nation’s energy.
Coal meanwhile still accounts for 48%. However, some groups claim that coal today only accounts for 23% of all our energy. The same groups claim that hydroelectric energy generates 7.3% of our renewable CLEAN energy and is our largest source of renewable. Since coal-generated electrical power is often used at peak use times to pump water to produce hydro-electricity  . . . Rajjpuut will stand with the coal companies’ stats until some definitive study is done.
You do recall that candidate Obama told the San Francisco Chronicle in 2008 that his energy policies “would necessarily make the cost of electricity skyrocket” and that they’d “bankrupt the coal companies.” Where Rajjpuut comes from that’s called “cutting off your nose to spite your face.”
Despite all the raps on America by environmental excessivists, the United States is only the 2nd largest consumer of energy in the world (China is #1); and ranks only #7 in the world in per capita energy use (Canada is the only large country ahead of the U.S. and Norway is the only medium-sized country where their individual citizens use more energy on average they we do here in America). Meanwhile the United States has discovered far and away the largest oil repository in the world (the Bakken Fields) but cannot use it because of environmental regulations so except for a few companies allowed to drill on North Dakota Indian reservations we get nothing. We also have the largest natural gas resources in the world but they’re being assailed by the environmental Nazis.   And in Western Colorado (where Rajjpuut once worked for a weekly newspaper lo’ so many years ago), Utah and Wyoming has enough keragen (a.k.a. marlstone or more incorrectly: “oil shale”) to provide energy for the entire planet at today’s consumption rates for the next seven and a half centuries . . . but Mr. Obama says, “NO! And his EPA is closing down coal plants; and his Interior Dept. is obstructing oil drilling offshore. But, by God, we can sure as hell put $535 million into Solyndra.

Ya’ll live long, strong and ornery,
Rajjpuut

**            Because of smoke and emissions and spotted owls and snail darters and endangered ferrets the radical environmentalists running the Oval Office and our president do NOT consider wood either “renewable” or “green.” They hate logging operations almost as much as they do coal mining.
^^          Actually, we just heard that someplace around the San Joaquin Valley, CA that ELF (the Environmental Liberation Front) was squawking about bird deaths in a windmill valley claiming that endangered raptors were heavily victimized.  It's a shame that elves don't fly.

This is a recent article from The Energy Tribune. The numbers are based on a new report from the Congressional Research Service (CRS). There are graphs and charts available at the link that did not transfer over which show the numbers more dramatically. By the way, the shale oil deposits that are not included in the numbers in this article are estimated to be over 800 Billion barrels, that is per the U.S. Department of Natural Resources.

U.S. Has Earth’s Largest Energy Resources

Posted on Mar. 24, 2011

In case anyone missed it, let me repeat something that is of a magnitude of 10 on the scale of news-quakes for Joe Public USA: America’s combined energy resources are, according to a new report from the Congressional Research Service (CSR), the largest on earth. They eclipse Saudi Arabia (3rd), China (4th) and Canada (6th) combined – and that’s without including America’s shale oil deposits and, in the future, the potentially astronomic impact of methane hydrates.

The energy facts in the CRS report should be making front page news all over America. Mostly it isn’t. Given the devastating news from Japan and New Zealand, it may be right to postpone dancing in the streets. But something else is going on. Even though they are going to dominate global energy supply for decades to come the insidious war on vital fossil fuels continues apace.

Thus it perhaps falls to a friend of the US (i.e. me) to state that if the White House is in any way serious about impacting the economic Black H*** that is the burgeoning national debt, reinvigorating business big-time, creating real jobs and restoring ebbing national wealth, the best shot by a distance if you’re American ... well, you’re standing on it, or rather above it.

While love, spiritually speaking and in fiction, may make the world go around, it is energy – and mostly hydrocarbon energy – that actually drives it. As blockbuster thrillers sometimes put it, “Who will tell the President?”

Political pantomime

From over here, the lack of a comprehensive US energy policy and the incoherence of President Obama’s political take on energy, reminds me of a pantomime I saw last Christmas, Aladdin. The cave is full of energy riches, but ‘Emperor’ Obama – or is it Wishy-Washy? –refuses to allow the words “open sesame” to be spoken.

Senator Lisa Murkowski, Ranking Member of the Senate Energy and National Resources Committee, takes up the theme: “As we debate ways to reduce gas prices and provide relief to American families and businesses, this report should be required reading for every member of Congress.” How about for every American citizen too, Senator? Murkowski adds, “For the sake of our national security, our economy, and the world’s environment, we need to explore and develop more of our own resources.”

“The Obama administration has made a conscious policy choice to raise energy prices, accomplished in good measure by restricting access to domestic energy supplies.” So says Senator James Inhofe, a Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. He adds forthrightly, “We could help bring affordable energy to consumers, create new jobs, and grow the economy if the Obama administration would simply get out of the way so America can realize its true energy potential.”

Wow, heavy stuff. But then there’s much to be ‘heavy’ about.

While the US is often depicted as having only a tiny minority of the world’s oil reserves at around 28 billion barrels (based on the somewhat misleading figure of ‘proven reserves’) according to the CRS in reality it has around 163 billion barrels. As Inhofe’s EPW press release comments, “That’s enough oil to maintain America’s current rates of production and replace imports from the Persian Gulf for more than 50 years”. Next up, there’s coal. The CRS report reveals America’s reserves of coal are unsurpassed, accounting for over 28 percent of the world’s coal. Much of it is high quality too. The CRS estimates US recoverable coal reserves at around 262 billion tons (not including further massive, difficult to access, Alaskan reserves). Given the US consumes around 1.2 billion tons a year, that’s a couple of centuries of coal use, at least.

In 2009 the CRS upped its 2006 estimate of America’s enormous natural gas deposits by 25 percent to around 2,047 trillion cubic feet, a conservative figure given the expanding shale gas revolution. At current rates of use that’s enough for around 100 years. Then there is still the, as yet largely publicly untold, story of methane hydrates to consider, a resource which the CRS reports alludes to as “immense...possibly exceeding the combined energy content of all other known fossil fuels.” According to the Inhofe’s EPW, “For perspective, if just 3 percent of this resource can be commercialized ... at current rates of consumption, that level of supply would be enough to provide America’s natural gas for more than 400 years.”

See what I mean about an Aladdin’s Cave of untapped energy? Could America.........

Al Gore Buys Second Mansion While Preparing

to Become Hundred-Billionaire off Cap and Trade

Crazed sex-poodle” Al Gore may be currently exciting the tabloid news readers with titilating stories from a long ago night in Seattle, but making fun of him is a dangerous policy akin to making fun of Adolf Hitler’s Charlie Chaplin moustache. “Do as I say, not as I do” Al Gore has for years excited the mainstream liberal media with his tales of global warming. The man’s own energy use is absolutely awe-inspiring. According to his latest escapades, not satisfied with a Tennessee mansion that uses 24 times as much energy as the average household, Gore has just closed on a California mansion that is even more imposing.

Then there are not one but two private jets . . . no wonder Mr. Gore, while testifying on cap and trade on Capitol Hill, took much umbrage and refused to answer directly when Marsha Blackburn Republican Representative from Tennessee (Gore’s state of origin) asked him, “Is this item you’re testifying on today, something from which you’ll personally profit?” Gore became snitty and insinuated she did NOT know his history. Well, the thing is . . . ALL that those of us who DO know Al Gore’s history (he did NOT invent the internet) can think of is the word “huckster.”

But the bigger surprise is that Gore (who’s already almost become a billionaire plying his “Global Warming” presentations to confirmed greenieholics) would presumably become a hundred-billionaire if Cap and Trade becomes law in America. This would occur because Gore’s London, England based company Generation Investment Management (GIM) is one of the biggest owners of Chicago Climate eXchange (CCX) an Obama originated entity set to profit in cap and trade monitoring. This might mightily surprise the liberal London Times which for a long, long time was a big believer in global warming and cap and trade schemes:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article6936289.ece

The Times link is an article on what’s called Climate Gate in Europe. Mainstream media in America do not publish stories contrary to the policies of people like Gore and Obama . . . speaking of Obama . . . .

Remembering that CCX aspires to become the “New York Stock Exchange of Carbon Trading.” One of the founders of Chicago Climate Exchange was indeed Barack Obama. Al Gore; Barack Obama; and such mutual friends of Obama and Gore as the company Goldman Sachs and about ten of its bigwigs individually; more than a dozen progressive (“We must progress beyond the outdated Constitution”) foundations such as the Tides Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, the World Resources Institute, Center for American Policy, Alliance for Climate Protection; Green Mountain Energy, The Shores Bank (which liberals recently bailed out with private funds rather than undergo the public scrutiny of its records), the World Bank, etc., etc. (looking them over and the incestuous relations among them one is immediately struck by the thought “money laundering”); and such notables as Bill Ayers (brother to the bombplanter), Richard Sandor, Joel Rogers, Maurice Strong, the Clintons, George Soros, ad nauseum.

And what exactly is their scheme? Once cap and trade passes, their little CCX, now owned at least partially by ICE, Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE is 7.59% owned by British Petroleum, go figure) runs the world of carbon trading. They sell carbon credits (literally blue sky – nothing is produced and no real measurable service is given or granted) to the tune of $10 TRillion per year and take a commission off every sale forever. In the process the $15 TRillion U.S. economy becomes a $25 TRillion U.S. economy which means that the average price of all real things increases 67% (25 divided by 15 = 167%). In his usual half-truth mode, Obama has said as much.

Speaking to the San Francisco Chronicle he proudly claimed his policies will “bankrupt the coal industry;” and he’s often said and at the link below tells the selfsame San Francisco Chronicle, “my energy policies would necessarily mean that the cost of electricity would skyrocket.”

Let's let your imagination roam a bit, imagine if John McCain** had said he was going to bankrupt a major U.S. industry or make the price of electricity skyrocket . . . . forgetting about the thousands of jobs lost . . . how would the media have treated him? The San Francisco Chronicle (effectively 'protecting' Obama) would not run the coal story and barely talked about the electricity comment . . . sort of like the entire American media overlooking the Climate Gate story linked above, eh?

Imagine now, if you will, President Grant in 1868 promising to harness the energy of electricity for every American household by 1876 (the end of his second term). Well, as with green technology today, 2010, in 1868 there was no Thomas Edison and virtually all American households didn’t get electricity and running water even and indoor plumbing until roughly 1928, sixty years later. Obama’s saying it’s so (and Gore’s saying it’s so) does not mean that green technology is viable today or will be viable even in thirty years, now does it? Where is our Edison? But, not to worry the complete collapse of the American Economy will mightily profit Gore, Obama, Soros, Sandor, and their ilk and they will rule us in perpetuity.

Ya’all live long, strong and ornery,

Rajjpuut
** Rajjpuut is NO lover of John McCain who is far more a progressive Republican than Herbert Hoover was; and more progressive than FDR, the progressive Democrat whose policies^^ gave us a "Great Depression" while the rest of the world suffered a little 'd' depression. The point of the story is that Obama is a media darling and the more progressive of the two individuals and the left-leaning press will not tarnish his image. Because they won't attack his corruption, we are all at risk . . . . hence Gore is the way to expose the soft-underbelly of corruption as the progressives move us surely to universal poverty and communism.
^^ Remember this, progressive FDR gave us 40 new federal government agencies in twelve plus years, Barack Obama via his Obamacare gave us about 390 new federal agencies in just one new law during his first fourteen months in office!
