Make no mistake about it -- Robert MacDonald, the President's choice to head the Veteran's Affairs department -- is a marketing expert.

While the announcement of his appointment plays up the fact than MacDonald graduated from West Point (no small accomplishment) it doesn't exactly give as much attention to the fact that he served only 3 years (1975-1978) in the military before going to the University of Utah to get his MBA.

But an MBA is good, right?  It would be useful to have a businessman trying to fix the problems of the VA.

It would -- if his business experience was relevant.  MacDonald was an executive at Proctor  Gamble.  While it would be useful to have an executive with experience in insurance or health care, MacDonald's core experience is with the business of P&G.

What business is P&G in?  MARKETING.

While P&G is a large corporation with a lot of product lines, these are mostly commodity products.  Many of them are repackaged versions of other products with no formula difference (a product sold as a laundry detergent can be also sold as a floor cleaner).  What allows you do differentiate?  MARKETING.

So it appears what the President believes the problem at the VA is doesn't come to organization or providing services to America's military Veterans.  The problem is one of MARKETING and messages.

In other words, it's a PR problem.

So don't expect substantive changes at the VA.  Expect better spin.

100 Million Americans on J. Boehner's Hit List

                                                                    Crocodile Tears4063808564?profile=original

Don't mistake that sad face as an American Patriot - that is the face of a man who has turned against his Country. No real tears folks - he's laughing all the way to the bank while we're trying to hold down two part jobs and put food on our tables.

Over 100 million American workers are on John Boenher’s hit list – that seems to be a very rash statement. John Boehner, Cantor Ryan and Goodlatte have placed the amnesty issue on the front burner - that's reality.

Boehner intends to get his way by giving millions of illegal aliens a free pass to our Nation’s jobs, medical care, unemployment insurance, food stamps, free education and Federally funded housing - this won’t just be a conversation piece it will be a reality in 2014 if “we the people don’t stop him.”

Why are House Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan, and Judiciary Committee chairman Bob Goodlatte pushing for amnesty in 2014?  Our Nation is crumpling due to very few full time jobs, tremendous taxes and exhorbitant charges for Obamacare and 5 scandals that are unsolved and Boehner chooses amnesty as a priority.

We have an economy that is broken, horrific National debt, unsecured borders, a weakened Military and a Government that is way too big for it’s britches.  We are in the midst of an election year and Boehner is waving his white flag, knuckling in the knees and kissing Obama and Democrats “fannies.”  If Boehner gets his way Americans will be the recipients of higher taxes, more debt to pay off and fewer jobs for the American work force. We have suffered enough pain from the corrupt politicians in the White House!

To sit make and surmise that amnesty is on the front burner because Republicans are desperate and buying votes is a farce – the few votes purchased by this illegal albatross aren’t even worth talking about…  The truth is Boehner and gang are playing footsey with the Corporate CEO and the US Chamber of Commerce because amnesty to illegal aliens is an automatic solution equating to millions of low pay and low- skilled labor employees.

If anyone thinks Boehner isn’t planning to push amnesty, just remember in December he hired a professional amnesty advocate to push this bill thru the House.  Remember this name (Rebecca Tallent) because we’ll be hearing a lot from her in the next few weeks – Rebecca use to be one of John McCain’s staffers.  Boehner’s actions have nothing to do with finding common ground with the Democrats he is doing this strictly to appease Corporate CEO and the US Chamber of Commerce.

Hopefully all Tea Party members will crash Boehner’s Twitter, Facebook accounts, his telephone and email service with one liners, “We the people don’t want “Amnesty” on the table in 2014 period – we want the five scandals resolved that have threatened millions of Americans and we want you to either do your job as an American Patriot or kindly step down, Mr. Boehner.”

I pray that my friends read this article and help me get Boehner’s attention.

                                       to deny gun owners protection

On Sunday night, NBC sportscaster Bob Costas decided during a Halftime break to tell America that your Second Amendment gun rights should be dialed back if not eliminated. He was reacting to the Saturday morning murder-suicide committed by Jovan Belcher, former linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs. According to police officials, Belcher’s chose a gun to murder his 22-year-old girlfriend Kasandra M. Perkins, in an apparent domestic violence dispute.

Did Costas misuse his position as a sports commentator to decide upon his own, without knowing the factual circumstances of the domestic dispute? Was he legitimate in broadcasting a determination before law enforcement authorities had completed their investigation, of Belcher’s use of a gun to commit both her murder and his suicide? Should he have linked the murders to a condemnation of legal gun owners in 43-55 million households in America?

While the nation grieves for the murders which are devastating for both families and the young 3-month old child of the dead parents, Bob Costas decided to become judge, jury and executioner of the Second Amendment guarantees, by issuing a political verbal assault during the halftime show of the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles.

There is a line in the sand that legitimate law abiding gun owners must draw and it must be firmly placed and unmovable. The use of the public airwaves to continue the assault against the U.S. Constitution is not something that should be continuously witnessed nor permitted to go unchallenged.

Why didn’t Costas do his homework before he went on the air with his fictional beliefs? Sure, there has been an increase in firearm ownership. In fact, there are approximately 43-55 million households in America with guns, which is about 43 to 50% of US households. Yet, what Costas neglected to mention is that with the increase of legal gun ownership in America, there has been a steady decline of murders due to gun violence. An armed American is a safer American.

Instead, Costas plays upon the fearful images that are fortified in the conscious of the nation, by media imagrey of horrific assault and murders of innocents like Aurora, Colorado's murder in July. With the attack by shooting suspect James Holmes charged with 24 counts of first-degree murder, liberal gun control advocates targeted the Second Amendment as the convenient villain.

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg demanded more detailed gun control measures from both presidential candidates, Obama and Romney. He stated in July, “I can tell you what we do here in New York. The State Legislature passed the toughest gun laws.”

It must be very comforting for families of victims who could not fight back, that with New York State’s stricter gun controls the murder rate has remained close to the current 4.0 and 4.05 per 100,000 as it has for last several years. In New York City, the tough “Stop and Frisk” measures have been attributed by law enforcement as the real solution to the lowering of gun murders in New York City, not tougher gun control laws.

So where does that leave law abiding citizens who continue to be victimized by liberal media pundits, as well as network news and sportscasters who feel compelled to interject personal opinions and nonsensical fabrications and cast them into cement as news?

So, Maybe Character Does Matter

4063381101?profile=original

There is a lot of chatter about the root cause of the loss of Anthony Weiner's former congressional district to Republican Bob Turner. Some are saying that it is a referendum against the Obama administration and its catastrophic economic policies. Some are saying it is a pro-Israel vote, which is ironic since New York Congressional district 9 is heavily populated with Jewish voters, Orthodox, Reform, and what-you-will. However, Turner came out with a strong "I Stand With Israel" message, which may have appealed to the sentiments of NY9 Jews, as opposed to the traditional Democrat Palestinian sympathizer position. I think these are factors that contributed to the Turner win, but I also believe that voters, when faced with a moral conundrum which pits degenerate behavior against the more virtuous candidate, will gravitate to Republicans and Conservatives. The Right is the only side of the political tug-o-war that believes morals matter, and which is unafraid to tackle social issues which impact families, children, and religion, in policy discussions.  It may well be that Weiner's disgusting behavior; the full frontal nudity tweets and online sex chats with numerous women, even after he was married, is so repugnant that even a distract that has unfailingly gone to Democrats since 1923, cannot stomach the thought, nor take the chance, that another sexual pervert might represent them.

New York Congressman, Republican Chris Lee, resigned almost immediately after he sent a photo of himself, waist up and shirtless, to a woman. He did not lie about his culpability, he took responsibility for his tacky and untoward behavior, and he got out of Dodge. Weiner first denied that the tweets were his, then he blamed them on a hacker, then he tried to minimize the offense, then he fought to hold on to his congressional seat after having been fully exposed as an immoral, narcissistic, troubled liar.  Perhaps the voters in NY9 have had it with the Weiners of the world. Bob Turner at 70 is certainly a safe bet, at least when it comes to decency.

Character does matter. America made the mistake with Bill Clinton of overlooking moral principle in exchange for a bit of economic security and prosperity. But the social decline of moral standards and behavior has never shifted from its downward trend since the Clinton/Lewinsky years. We can't afford sexual reprobates in positions of political leadership. One's sexual behavior and connection to a religious, moral identity in regard to the purpose and potential of sexuality, transfers to the overall character and conduct of an individual. Democrats in NY9, and perhaps elsewhere, are now feeling the sting of rebuke from an American electorate who still, to some degree, values the indispensable role of morality in a free society.

Freeing Our Inner Desires

Using Our Outside Voice

Each of us has developed an internal filtering process that helps us choose which parts of our constant inner monologues get voiced outside of our heads. Sometimes the choice is based on what we consider to be polite or appropriate, using subtlety instead of directness to try to get our point across. Other times the choice is made based on our expectations of the other person and what we feel they should know about us, our feelings, and our needs. But our best chance of getting what we need is to communicate specifically by converting our inner voice to our outside voice.

This may seem unnecessary sometimes, especially when we think the other person has the same information we ourselves are working with, but we have to remember they also have their own inner voice, evaluating what they hear in light of their own issues and needs. With so much to consider and sift through, we are truly better off if we communicate precisely. Not only does doing this minimize the chance for misinterpretation, but voicing our thoughts it is an act of creation. We convert thought and imagination to sound, releasing it from the chamber of our minds into the outside world. This carries energy and intention with it, making our thoughts, wishes, and even dreams come true.

When we have the courage to speak our minds and use our voice to send the desires of our hearts from our inner world to the world outside, we take a bold step in making them happen. By removing fear of what others may think and expectation of what others should understand, we free ourselves and our thoughts from the bondage of the mental chamber and let loose our desires onto the canvas of the world. Next time we become aware that we have a choice about how to communicate, we can choose to use our outside voice and watch its creative power at work. DOM

Respect and Be Open

Your sense of integrity could make you more open-minded in your professional interactions. Perhaps you realize that by being respectful and tolerant of differing ideas you can achieve more when working with others. Making an effort to navigate between all sides of an issue and finding mutually agreeable solutions to problems could help you be even more effective in your dealings. Should you find that you have to deal with conflicting ideas in some form, you can think about the needs and wants of everyone involved. Putting your ideas down on paper through a diagram or chart might be a way for you to see the different factors involved and maybe even a way to come up with a creative solution. You may find that being nonjudgmental and broad-minded could not only help you to act honestly but can also assist you in finding what works best for everyone.

When we are receptive to everybody’s ideas, win-win outcomes are more possible. Even though it can be challenging to meet the needs of all the people we interact with, if we truly take the time to understand their ideas and then try to integrate them with our own ideas, we will more readily gain their respect. Having this mutual regard for each other will make it easier for our team to accomplish its goals. By being open and showing respect in a professional capacity, your interactions will not only be more positive but also more productive.
