From Colorado to Wisconsin -

It seems that, even when a school system can proclaim itself 'proud American' (Fort Collins HS in Colorado gave up the ghost of its denial of 'American Day' for the student body) the actions of another speak even louder:

The game is called “Cross the Line” and many outraged parents believe that it does just that.

A middle school in Marinette, Wisconsin got a group of 5th-8th graders together and organized a really fun game that asked students to step forward to answer “yes” to a series of highly personal questions. Questions like…

Do your parents drink?

Do you cut yourself?

Has anyone in your family been to jail?

Have you ever wanted to commit suicide?

Do you or your parents do drugs?

Unbelievably, school administrators believed that this “game” would help the kids to be better and kinder friends. “The intent of this activity was to build stronger, more respectful relationships among students,” said Principal Shawn Limberg. The “game” was part of an anti-bullying program.

Of course, Limberg also said the “game” was completely voluntary, an assertion that was disputed by one young girl who told her mother she’d have to go to in-school suspension if she didn’t participate.

Several parents voiced their concerns and had them brushed off. Amanda Fifarek, mother of a 7th grade student, told FOX 11, “They basically told us that all the students were lying…all the students got together and planned it out and if they weren’t lying, it was all misperceptions. They didn’t specifically say do your parents do drugs.”

Of course. We all know those silly children must have just misunderstood the whole thing.

Here’s the report from the local Fox station:

Cross the Line Game at Marinette Middle School

Reading between the lines, it doesn’t look as though Marinette Middle School was duly chastised. It sounds like they every intention of playing the “game” again. According to a Yahoo news report, ”Principal Limberg said they will let parents know the next time they plan on playing this game.”

  • What a great idea.

Now all we have have to do is find out what schools the politicians have there kids in and indoctrinate the teachers into playing the game.

    1. Did your Mom or Dad make a lot of extra money this week?

    2. Who came to visit your Mom & Dad this week? What did they say?

    3. Great idea, Just add your own questions.

  • So, while I haven't seen an update on this situation yet, there are some interesting comments from student and parent alike from the report page itself. One share featured a, 'you may not agree with the content, but it does help kids overcome cliques and gangs, et al.' opinion. Of course, some chimed in with, 'it's not the school's place to be involved that way,' of which I concur. See here the video that was shared in that exchange:

  • The top-down think here bothers me most. The system is in place, with directives from - where? - that these practices would be instituted - everywhere?! - that allow no culpability on the part of those conspiring to undertake the information gathering and reporting of same. No accountability, no transparency on the process, and this is not an isolated incident, as others in this discussion have pointed out. So, yes, invasion of privacy, coercion, and even reckless endangerment of a child.

  • This is straight out of the old Soviet school system where every student was a "Young Pioneer" and required to report on their parents, friends, relatives and neighbors.  If there was nothing to report, they were encouraged to "make it up".  Unless a student shows obvious signs of abuse or distress, it is none of the school's business what happens at home.  The Nazis required the same reporting scheme of the Hitler Youth.

  • Yeah, that's it. Set the teachers and school administrators down and ask THEM about their alcoholism, their union activities, their sex with students, and how THEY cheated on their spouses. THAT should even things up a little. In fact at the next school board meeting insist everybody on the school board be questioned in the same way.

  • Why don't we play the same game with the students, but ask the same questions about their teachers????

  • Train the kids to take the fifth. If they get suspended fine. Sue the school for invasion of privacy. Then, stop sending in your school taxes until they stop.

  • When government controls a teacher the teacher is for government not the student.  The one room school house teachers used the older students to assist not the government.  The only thing those teachers received were government grants to help with improving the buildings and book purchases.  The multi-media classrooms of today spend more on upgrades to governmental regulations than to basic needs of the students.  Parents did not get those upgrades.  The teacher now blames the parents as an excuse to get more gov't regs.  to punish the parents.  This is a community problem and the community has the ability to deal with this.  Now teachers bring in the feds.  Bring in the Feds.  This whole community needs to surrender for letting this happen.  The city's are being denied basic needs and, the feds are getting bonus's for harassing the family's and giving Kudo's to the teacher.  This Mayor of this city should be surrounded.  The citizen's are letting this stuff get out of hand.  Stand up parents.  Kindness is the obstacle.  Do you want kindness ended and outsourced tough kid's who do not keep focused on their future but the future of big government and, big business.  Corporate schools with a structure for Bay Area,  NYC area, Chicago area demeanor's/  DC drug dealer demeanor's.  MBA in selling POT.  Training more prostitute's and, ticket salesmen for the pro sports player's.  Not one course in how to survive in this community.  The people are ripping each other off over education. The Tribe's of Africa control the community.  Why can't the Tribe's of Wisconsin.

  • O'h Democracy at it best?  And they wonder why so many parents are home schooling.  I'll bet some students don't even know who George Washington is. But they know all about Michael Jackson right?  And of course

    God isn't allowed there either.

  • Hitler, did that with the Germans ?? these are orders from the King BO it sticks like BO
