Ode to the Clandestine Soldier

From bunkers buried under the Earth

To the back alleyways of Perth

We fought our war in the shadows

Where dark and dangerous plots are hatched and grow

Never knowing who was friend or foe

Did we in harm’s way willingly go

At the peril of our very souls we supped from Satan’s bowl

Whose tools in trade were lies, deceit and betrayal

Then did we face the minions of the Beast

Rising from the dusty streets of the Middle East

Armed with silenced weapons, knives and poison on Satan’s tasks did they go

For all mankind we fought them till hell’s dry sands did with crimson flow

Often times in blackness of that everlasting night

Did we long for a glimpse of the light

In the end when our war was done

We found final refuge in the house of God’s only son
