I'm new here, and I'm new to this posting stuff, so please bear with me.

I'm also a farmer, so I get all the latest details regarding ag. subsidies.

Let me tell you about the lastest brilliant program.

Greenhouses. In Nebraska. For growing edible vegetables only.

1) They must be 100 ft. long.

2) They should be 48 feet wide.  (so far so good)

3) They must have open endwalls. (no walls on 2 sides)

4) They cannot be heated. (see #3)

5) They must be located within 200 acres from a farmyard. (where are you going to get water?)

6) Uncle Sugar pays $1.04 per sq. ft. per year. ($4992.00 per year)

7) They pay the $4,992.00 for 4 years. ($19,968.00)

8) After 4 years, you get to keep the greenhouse and use it as you wish.

9) 200 applications for this program are available.

Can someone please tell me how anyone in Nebraska, can grow veggies, in an unheated greenhouse, with no endwalls, and no available water supply?

If it's warm enough to grow anything inside this thing, it's warm enough to grow them outside, no walls!

If 200 people signed up for this program:

3 million, 993 thousand, 600 dollars ($3,993,600.00) gets ripped from your pocket.

Multiply that times our 50 states= $199,680,000.00

That's 200 million dollars.

That my friend is a lot of veggies.

And, it's the truth.

You won't hear about this on ABC, NBC or CBS.

  • here in   ky.  it's not as bad as that but however under the clean streams initiative , if you raise cattle you can get a grant to put city water in for the cows. they did a survey , put gps collars on cattle and found out that cows had much reither drink out of a trough than wade through mud to get to a stream or pond and also  you don't have to worry about the cows peeing or pooping near the stream or pond
  • Great post.   Love hearing from the farm community the underappreciated and historical backbone of our great nation.  This program is just a political bone out there being thrown so Obama can say look what I did for the farmers.  Meanwhile,  Obama will tax farmer's land as though it was cash.  Obama is no friend of the farm community.  I spent my first 40 years in Chicago listening to WGN and the great Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong.  I loved the late Bob Collins.  He called it the hogs and frogs report.    I see Orion and Max are now on RFD.  Ever hear Orion's recording of I Just Go Nuts At Christmas.  I have a blog called AFSCME Is So Unethical.  It is about my personal experiences with Unions and Chicago politics.  It is on the second blog page.  I am sending you a friend request.  Sincerely,  Angelo Mule'
