Locus Americus commented on Bob VanDeHey's blog post Rajjpuut's Folly: 15 Key Obamacare Promises on Health Care "Reform" Fall Short
"The campaign is over.

To govern is a different critter.

Campaigns are like romance and marriage. About half are casualties before the wedding pictures fade.

I agree 'reform' is being used as casually as 'socialism' with neither having a distinct,…"

Locus Americus commented on GrizzlyMama's blog post "CAP AND TRADE"----EPA CONTROL?
"2 things about this. First, the EPA is functionally dead as an agency of enforcement and does need to be re-structured with a mandate to enforce federal and state enviromental laws.

That leaves me with little concern what Obama does with the EPA.…"

Locus Americus commented on Richard Dixson's blog post Slavery Among Us!!!
"Ok, first, you are mostly correct about the Boston Tea Party. But, the issue was Bostonian's HAD local representatives which DID vote to levy taxes for the common good although being under the governorship of Britain. What happened was it was not a…"

Locus Americus commented on Albert R Fromberger's blog post THE MOSQUE AT THE SEPT. 11TH SITE IN NYC
"My AM a good American Citizen and do not need you or anyone else to put 'IF" conditions on that. I served in three wars as well as episodes never making the media's dinner plate.

Islam is a religion based in peace, not war. If facts must be known,…"

Locus Americus commented on Joseph Whitworth Smith's blog post Star Light, Star Bright
"I generally agree with your conclusions but disagree for their reasons.

The issue of 'redistribution' is not a bad idea from its original ideals. For example, a poor state like Mississippi could not affort to build or maintain its interstate…"

Locus Americus commented on Albert R Fromberger's blog post THE MOSQUE AT THE SEPT. 11TH SITE IN NYC
"What about the America where Islamic Americans do not share the views of political extremists.

There's Catholic Churches in NYC so should we ban them as well because some priests molest children?

This is America which was built by slaves, Chinese,…"

Locus Americus commented on William Quayle Jr's blog post Annexaton of Mexico
"I think getting Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California was enough and more than we could handle then, and, now.

This is more of a problem with the Federal Goverment passing laws it cannot enforce without expansion of federal law enforcement…"

Locus Americus commented on Cathy O'Brien's blog post The Socialist Judge: Elena Kagan and the Teachable Moment
"First of all I will identify myself, politically, as being an Independent voting based upon substnace rather than passionate rhetoric.

To the latter, voices within the Tea Party, as well as those outside, have available to themselves the same…"

  • Thank you for your comment! In form I agree with you, except to say that I wasn't trying to give a complete history ot the original Tea Party. The idea was in general at the very least; to ignite a spark in hope and to make a few think at most. Although your argument in Pollock v. Farmers Loan & Trust is sound Chief Justice White held that while the 16th Amendment did creat a new form of taxation it did not creat "...one provision of the Constitution to destroy another; that is, they would result in bringing the provisions of the Amendment exempting a direct tax from apportionment into irreconcilable conflict with the general requirement that all direct taxes be apportioned." Needless to say, the 16th Amendment is a direct taxation and must be apportioned as is directed by the original Constitution. Therefore, the income tax as it is handed down today by the I.R.S. is an excise tax and the person paying such tax must be given the choice of whether they wish to be taxed or not. If you do not wish to pay a whiskey tax, then don't buy the whiskey. But thanks again for your comment.
