Where are the gutless Republicans?

Republican Party (United States) - Wikipedia

The question is, where on Earth are the Republicans? Why has there been no press conference with every Republican in the House and Senate standing together to denounce all this violence? To passionately defend our police? They know damn well that Chauvin is an outlier, a bad cop who has kept his job because his Democrat-run city kept him despite his abusive tendencies.

Why is President Trump always alone in saying what needs to be said? And when he says what needs to be said, he is viciously attacked by the Democrats and the media who, like Pavlov's dog, consider any word he says as an opportunity for slander. And the Republicans do not come to his defense.

At the moment there is no Republican but Sen. Cotton who has won or even kept the respect or support of his or her constituents. They have all made common cause with their Democrat counterparts. They are letting Antifa and Black Lives Matter, both of which are Soros-funded terrorist groups, have their way with all of us, and it is disgusting. They are not out there defending our police without whom we cannot exist. They know this! They are all -- all of our elected officials except Trump -- capitulating to violent actors who will think nothing of killing indiscriminately next. Antifa and BLM are just a step away from adopting the tactics of the drug cartels of Mexico and the Palestinian jihadis. One small step.

Senators McConnell, Cruz, Scott, Lee, Rubio, et al. Where are you? Congressmen Nunes, Johnson, McCarthy, Gaetz, Jordan, et al., all you good guys, where are you now when we need you to stand up for our values, our safety, our property?

    • Sorry... but from 2017 - 2019 both Houses of Congress were Republican... Pres. Trump failed to drain the swamp because the GOP doesn't want the status quo to significantly change... With Congress firmly in the GOP Trump should have cleaned out the DOJ, FBI, CIA, DHS, and the entire Administration.  Instead, the House under Ryan and the Senate under McConnell were fighting the President tooth and nail... which cost them the House in the 2018 election cycle.

    • So true. If you promise something and you have the power, you better do it or your voted out.

    • Exactly!

    • well if that is the case then why the Republican who is still in the office is afraid of the Democrats the people vote those Republican in the office?

  • All conservatives, the silent majority, red states, and ALL Republicans must stand togethet to push back this threat to our country, Constitution, and way of life.

  • This is exactly why I left the republican party years ago! They are weak and unable to organize into a coheasive movement.

    •  NO it's you, and too many like you, who are "WEAK"... Weak in tha Head... You can't comprehend what's needed to Republicans to ACT... To Accomplish "Stuff".. they need VOTES to Pass Legislation and 60-VOTES in the US Senate... Republicans DO NOT HAVE 60-VOTES in the US Senate... So it's YOU who's just to GD ignorant to understand what's happening.. and so YOU believe such CRAP: and you further go out a Further SPREAD such IGNORANCE, etc..  You, and way too many like you, are the PROBLEM, not our Republicans of today

    •  That's total RUBBISH... You left the "Republican Party" because you don't comprehend what Republicans in Congress have the Power to DO and what they don't have the Power to do...

Otherwise Please STATE what you believe Republicans had the Power to "DO" but failed to do???  For Example you do comprehend that it takes 60-votes to Pass most Legislation through the US Senate.. and always if it includes New Tax Payer's Funding that's involved?

You do understand that there is NO Power to Defund existing Law.. that existing Law would have to be "Repealed" with new Legislation, right?  As with "Obamacare"...

You do comprehend that in order for Republicans to Pass Legislation so as to Fund our Federal Govt and "Pay-tha-Bills" that Democrat Votes are needed, at least, in the US Senate and therefore Republics have had-to agree to Democrat's demands that Planned Parenthood and other Dem BS be included in Spending Bills ???

    • NO, they don't need 60 votes. to pass legislation. The Constitution doesn't require 60 votes to pass a bill in the US Senate. It is a Senate RULE that requires 60votes to close debate on a bill... Ever hear of the Nuclear Rule?  That rule (is more a threat) made by the majority party in the Senate to suspend the 60 votes required to end a filibuster and to bring the legislation to the floor for a vote, The 60 vote cloture rule is subject to removal anytime the majority party likes.  SO STOP THE CRAP... McConnell can pass mountains of legislation if he suspends the 60 vote cloture rule...  thus effectively ending the minority's ability to block legislation.

However, leaving the 60 vote rule alone... provides Sen. McConnell inordinate power... He can threaten to suspend it, when HE wants legislation passed, or he can use it as an excuse for not pursuing legislation he doesn't support... citing, he is unable to reach the 60 votes needed to suspend debate and bring a bill to the floor for a vote.  This process is 'political theater' of the worst sort.  It is a GREAT LIE and BETRAYAL of the party's base, by the GOP leadership, as they use this rule to deny legislation their base wants to be passed.  It is significant that in the first two years of Trump's Presidency the GOP controlled BOTH Houses of Congress... Yet, the Senate failed to pass most of the legislation their base supported. They did little to fulfill many of their promises. In fact, they fought the President on nearly all of his appointees and reform policies... forcing the President to use Obama holdovers to run much of his administration.

The GOP Congress refused to help our President drain the swamp and are still doing so... Instead of hearings, the Senate needs to refer individuals already identified as having committed crimes to the DOJ for prosecution. Congress should also be withholding money from the DOJ and FBI until they bring corruption cases to trial.  n short, there are some very serious problems in the GOP leadership... which we need to correct by voting out their leadership... in Congress and the several States who only maintain a facade of Conservative Christian values.

    • Why do they have to agree?  Just don't pass the damn bill until it is right.

The GOP ALWAYS caves to the left when it comes to spending bills.
