A federal judge Friday overturned California’s three-decade-old ban on assault weapons, ruling that it violates the constitutional right to bear arms.
U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez of San Diego ruled that the state’s definition of illegal military-style rifles unlawfully deprives law-abiding Californians of weapons commonly allowed in most other states and by the U.S. Supreme Court.
“Under no level of heightened scrutiny can the law survive,” Benitez said. He issued a permanent injunction against enforcement of the law but stayed it for 30 days to give state Attorney General Rob Bonta time to appeal.
Gov. Gavin Newsom condemned the decision, calling it “a direct threat to public safety and the lives of innocent Californians, period.”
In his 94-page ruling, the judge spoke favorably of modern weapons, said they were overwhelmingly used for legal reasons.
“Like the Swiss Army knife, the popular AR-15 rifle is a perfect combination of home defense weapon and homeland defense equipment. Good for both home and battle,” the judge said in his ruling’s introduction.

When is Newsom's "RECALL ELECTION" GOING TO TAKE PLACE...why is he still Governor, the recall petition was judged adequate and he has been recalled... subject to new elections. Get rid of this Marxist elitist and his aunt Nancy Pelosi. He like his aunt believe they are ENTITLED ... to their public offices as part of the new age aristocracy. Entire family dynasties are ruling in America... I thought our founding fathers outlawed the practice of political fielty and inherited office.
Does it really matter? It was socialist radicals that put him in and it will be socialist radicals that will find another socialist radical to replace him and nothing will change. The real problem are the socialist radicals that keep voting for socialst radicals. It's not working with this guy we voted for, the state is deep in debt, shutdowns are in place, the state economy is in the tank. so lets remove him and find a new socialist to replace him to continue the same failed policies. MAKES PERFECT SENCE DOESN'T IT?

These virtues you enjoy are not free or garranteed, and should absolutely be expected to be challenged as yours. If you do not bother to struggle to retain them, should you have them at all?
I don't have to worry about the RED state I live in because republicans are in control with not enough radicals around to change it. Hopeless states run by radical democrats(a.k.a.communists)such as Oregon let anti-fa (a.k.a. radical communists) take control so there is no law and order so law abiding people have to carry a handgun with plenty of ammo to protect themselves. All because there state is run by a radical Govenor. So Oregon now has several counties that want to change there borders to become part of Idaho (conservative counties) because they see no hope of changing things through voting in Oregon because there are too many radicals, JUST LIKE CALIFORNIA. The only hope for California is to split into several states like they proposed a few years ago, but there is little hope in that happening since radicals control everything.
Any states that can be self sufficient without need of Union participation has been targeted for transformation into a Progressivist redoubt. California was aquired in 1967. New York before that. Now Texas is feeling the bite. The North Pacific seaboard states also have been co-opted. The scheme is, that if the Union suffers from hardship caused by sedition or natural events, their political fortresses will be disproportionately spared harm.
California can only be partitioned (with Congressional participation and consent), for reasons other than political partisanship. That is because the party in state control will not want to break up the House voting bloc. The minority party will also not want the change, because it aspires to capture the same voting bloc for itself. Water resources, agriculture, an earthquake splitting the state in two, some other reason would be the catalyst. IMHO

I would hold the recall election within six months.
