  • General Milley is a pathetic excuse for a US General.  He should resign, and be ashamed of himself.  Defense Secretary Austin is a liberal bureaucrat, and does not belong in his current role.

  • THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ORGANIZED AND IMPLEMENTED BEFORE THE SHTF AND THEY SHUT DOWN THE BASE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!  Both of these losers need to step down and be prosecuted.

  • For several decades top-tier flag officers have been selected for key positions... based on their support for the new-age social justice programs of the left.  These officers were not selected for their military expertise and leadership alone.  The Democrat Party has been engineering the transformation of our military, thru the careful career management of its senior officers.

Political operatives in the Democrat party have managed to transform the US Armed Forces, from a highly trained and professional Military, into a laboratory for social experiments and political correctness.  The result has been the dangerous politization of the military, putting our national security at risk.

America's Military is in serious crisis as it embraces Critical Race Theory and a witch hunt for 'white supremacists', while our enemy's military trains for the fast-approaching world conflict...

    • Armies need senior leaders... battalions don't operate independently of each other.... and massive engagements require assets well beyond the scope of Battalion leadership... Colonels and Flag Officers are necessary to the overall execution of global military engagements.

However,  I agree that a major review of our senior officers should be undertaken... and the politicizing of our military brought to an end.  Additionally, we should reinstate the Draft. Conscription will work to stabilize the military force by reintroducing non-career citizen soldiers as the core component of the force.  Professional soldiers were never to be the mainstay of our military.  Our founding fathers wanted to avoid a professional standing army, for the very reasons we see in our Military today... they are easily subverted for political ends.

    • Wrong in so many ways it is difficult to know where to begin... other than to state, Military units are not configured to act as police or civil authority for extended periods... That is why our military forces have a difficult time in conducting NATION BUILDING operations.  Martial Law and tactile units are not organized to include the skills to govern civilian populations for extended periods.  Martial law functions best as a temporary system of governing, while, restoring civil government.

Flag officers are necessary for many reasons... one of which is that flag officers are the only officers legally authorized to convene military tribunals and courts... You obviously are well out of your league when it comes to making suggestions on how to deploy military units in support of domestic stabilization operations or their functions under Martial Law.  Tactical Combat Arms units are not trained to be police or to function as replacements for civil courts... They don't have the technical skills or the organization and support to act as police or the judiciary.  When functioning under Martial Law such units are augmented with specialized MP, CID, and SJA detachments, who are used to provide temporary civil policing and Judicial authority.

Your aversion to flag officers appears to speak to an underlying contempt for authority... I would suggest you rethink your position. Just because a peer group of senior officers may be corrupt doesn't mean the entire system is corrupt or that military units suddenly are capable of functioning without senior officers.  Your idea that civilian authority can provide such supervise or oversight is a non-starter, as there already exists a chain of command with civilian oversight.  Adding more layers of supervision to an already complex mission (martial law) would lead to confusion and counterproductive purposes. (local vs national priorities, etc)

    • Col. Nelson:  Does it occur to you that we can create more flag officers by promoting the younger, loyal senior officers (below the rank of Gen) easier--and with more fidelity than trying to rehabilitate the pussies who now wear stars?

    • Not at all.. I am for major reductions to senior-level officers... However, I am not for the blanket termination of huge numbers of flag officers... a select group of the confessed WOK and CRT supporters would be sufficient to send the message that social engineering is over and national security and tactics are the primary mission.  Continuity of command and reasonable purges of the unqualified and politicized officers should be routine... using annual reviews.

A one-time purge of the politicized WOK flag officer is warranted... with annual reviews and promotion boards paying close attention for the politicized and or corrupted officers.

    • It would be useless for me to discuss the intricate need for support and coordination when engaging in domestic or conventional combat... battalions simply don't have all the necessary tactile and support elements to operate independently... Division and Corps level tactile assets and logistics capability that are not organic to a battalion must be coordinated and available. Colonels and Generals are necessary to authorize such support and to allocate the resources to support such operations.  Your obvious lack of knowledge regarding tactile MOUT operations is showing.

All I can say is God help us if you are in charge of military operations... Generals and Colonels have been necessary to the management of every form of military operation where the force structure required more than a company task force.  There are just too many elements that require coordination and operational supervision for a Battalion's commander and his staff to effectively manage,  What goes on in a tactile operations center varies depending on the level of conflict... from near nothing to near chaos.  MOUT operations targeting local leadership and domestic terrorism would be a relatively low-level affair in a well-trained TOC...  The greatest concern would be keeping the collateral damage to a minimum and wining the local civilian population's support.... not so much combatant tasks.  There would also be the need for heavy MP and SJA support as the Domestic Terrorist and criminal elements in the local government are detained, arrested, and jailed pending their disposition for trial.

    • P/S  'Tactical' not 'tactile' having serious problems with auto spell check interfering with posts and editing.  Going to find a different program as this one sucks.

    • Excuse me...

Why would one invoke martial law if the local leaders and government are not corrupt and oppressive... and if the local government is lawless and corrupt they most certainly become the targets of Martial Law.  You don't get to have it both ways.

Next, you have no idea of what it takes to conduct a marital law mission or MOUT/UO operations... no idea of what you are attempting to manage. So, just how are you qualified to review, approve or order them? Your misguided views of the military are precisely how America ends up in a quagmire of politically charged missions the military is not trained, equipped, or organized to fulfill...
