Politicians from both parties are unqualified to find the solution to the gun problem. Both bow to the dollars contributed to their bank account and re-election campaigns. Nothing these elderly citizens come up with will ever solve the problem. They have too much money coming in to really try to fix the problem. One party will continue using these shooting as wedge issues trying to garner more votes for their party. The other party will say that the second amendment is non-negotible. The only way to solve this gun problem in schools is for our government to look at where success is today. Look at how the Israeli's protect their schools. They are doing it right. They live in a constant state of terrorism amoung those who want to kill their children. But they have developed a system of protecting their schools. Our politicians are elected old people who are set in their ways. They know nothing about protecting schools. They only march to the sound of the money.

Security is needed in the schools and in mean actual security not. the bandaid effect. Single entry, locked doors that can only be open from the inside, armed professional security people not teachers. Police or licensed private guards and secuity personnel. More gun laws are not going to do anything more than what the laws we have on the books now. Nobody enforces these laws is another problem. There are plenty of retired military and polce to fill the positions.

Great points Donald.. we need to harden our Public Schools against such lone-wolf attacks... single entry and NO UNACCOMPANIED ACCESS BY VISITORS... along with deadbolts and hardened classroom doors. Install an electronic lockdown system that alerts teachers and secures all interior doors within the school... while auto dialing 911. Screen all students and individuals entering the school using a metal detector system, before entry is granted. Post the school resource/security officer along with the staff at the entrance to screen all students as they report to school... fence, monitor, and secure the recess grounds, to ensure weapons can not be hidden or introduced during recess... periods. There are plenty of security experts that could design and create secure school plans. Funding should be available for this important issue.
