Pence: No room in GOP for 'apologists for Putin'

Mike Pence betrayed us by calling in the national guard when the Capitol was under attack 😔💯 : r/TheRightCantMeme

Former Vice President Mike Pence is set to deliver a speech Friday night that will call out Russian President Vladimir Putin as well as those who have suggested that NATO’s expansion played a role in his invasion of Ukraine.

"There is no room in this party for apologists for Putin," Pence will say to a Republican National Committee retreat in New Orleans, according to an excerpt obtained by Fox News. "There is only room for champions of freedom."

The comments from Pence are a tacit criticism of Trump and others who have complimented Putin's intelligence and strategy as he directed Russia to invade Ukraine without provocation.

Trump last week said on a radio show that Putin's decision to unilaterally declare portions of eastern Ukraine as independent republics was "pretty savvy" and "genius." Putin's recognition of those territories preceded a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo earlier this year also referred to Putin as a "talented statesman" with "lots of gifts."

And Tucker Carlson, an influential Fox News host, questioned why Americans should hate Putin and described Ukraine as a country essentially managed by the U.S. government.

    • He was supposed to be on our side.......so in the end he was useless to us!

    • Thomas. I think it bears repeating that Mike Pence took his determined inaction,

as the Presidents man-in-the-room to ensure the incumbent a fair shake, which he refused to do.

His motives to do so correctly as the 2nd Chief Executive are self-explanatory.

If he defrauds favoring POTUS as President of the Senate, he queers his future Presidential chances.

If you were a suicidal defendant in a capital offense trial, Mike Pence would be the lawyer for you!

    • I have absolutely no idea what you are attempting to say.

    • HEY! Just how far away from you and Sobering Thomas do you think I am?

    • Just think within earshot.

    • Okay. Lets converse.

Please tell me why, the designated substiutute executive (the Vice-President) for an Executive Branch incumbent President, is the individual, and the only individual, designated to serve as Congressional President of the Senate for the Electoral college certification. Curious, isn't it, for the man riding the coattails of the Chief Executive hoping for a likely future Presidential bid after the incumbent is termed out, to be placed in a position of deliberate conflict-of-interest temptation? Why wouldn't such a President of the Senate typically be tempted in bias to defer to any situation that results in his Chiefs certified win, regardless of actual circumstances. If a lion could, he might wonder why the man is putting his head in the lions own mouth. So why would the Constitution be written that way?

    • Although replying to a post that makes no sense at all seems futile at best, I will break my own code and do it anyway. Here is one of several documents that were the basis for the opinion I have expressed. I would suggest that if you have any further questions regarding: suicidal defendants or putting your head in a lion’s mouth, that you contact Mike Pence directly.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Constitutional lawyer Ivan Raiklin on Dec. 22 sent out a tweet urging Vice President Mike Pence to inform the secretaries of state in six contested states that he cannot accept their certified electors because they were not legally appointed due to overwhelming evidence of election fraud.

Raiklin contends that the U.S. Constitution grants the Vice President the power to overturn a manifestly fraudulent election.

Under Art. II, Section 1 of the Constitution, each state, as its legislature “may direct,” will “appoint” its electors. Because the six disputed states (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin) ran entirely fraudulent elections, and because their legislatures did not dictate fraudulent elections, there is nothing to certify, Raiklin said.

Because the six state legislatures did not authorize fraud as a basis for selecting electors, Raiklin contends, those states could not and did not validly certify their electors on Dec. 14.

“The problem is one of fraud in the inception: When fraud permeates an election, the state lacks the power to appoint electors because no law authorizes the state to act in the absence of an honest election,” Andrea Widburg noted in a Dec. 24 analysis for American Thinker. “Notably, more than 50 courts have refused to examine the mountains of evidence attesting to illegality in the elections. The cases were decided only on procedural grounds. Thus, no authority within these states has ever properly ruled upon election fraud.”

According to Raiklin, there is one person who can examine that evidence and act accordingly — Vice President Mike Pence.

“In this strange year of 2020, we may learn that the Vice President is the most powerful man in America,” Widburg noted.

Pence, who is also President of the Senate and will preside over a joint session of Congress on Jan. 6 to count electoral votes, has available to him all the evidence of fraud and irregularities the public has seen.

Because he also is briefed on classified intelligence, Pence also has information available to him that state representatives, Supreme Court justices, and other senators haven’t seen. That information would include evidence of foreign intervention in the election under President Donald Trump’s 2018 Executive Order 13848.

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe’s final report has yet to be issued, but he has already confirmed that China and Iran interfered in the Nov. 3 election.

Pence also has access to federal information about other criminal investigations, including investigations at Department of Justice, Election District Offices, FBI Field Offices, U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, the U.S. Post Office’s Postmaster, and the U.S. Post Office’s Inspector General.

Raiklin contends that this combination of information and authority means that Pence has the right to demand proper certification from the states and the “sole plenary power” to determine whether the elector appointments he receives are legitimate.

Widburg noted: “This idea puts enormous pressure on Pence. He’s has proven to be a rock of stability and competence. He’s also a man of deep faith and patriotism, both of which contribute to courage. And courage is what Pence would need to act on this legal advice.”

    • Interesting post, loaded with circumstantial data (I read the Constitution myself), but really does not address the question I posed?

Why should the Vice-President be specifically designated as the Congressional President of the Senate in a special role, inherently pregnant with political conflict of interest?

I had hoped you would see the wisdom that  by acting unethically in plain view of God , the Congress, and the People, would be predictably suicidal to the President of the Senates future career in the Executive branch. So he won't likely act unethically! In fact, the one way he could be discreetly unethical, is to deliberately derail his Chiefs interests (and risk his short term political injury) for ulterior motives. That means refuse to call into question electoral results of some contraversy, to compel a result other than the Peoples will. Very unlikely, yes, but men considered brave have been under duress and acted contrary to convictions before.

This I contend, is exactly what Michael Pence committed.

Further, I question that President Pence would need to pursue the examination himself directly, but only defer acceptance of questioned electoral results pending determination of their veracity. The time was availible (and the checkered Covid-emergency excuse to violate states Constitutions to alter election laws was documented). He had the ability to exercise procedural authority and set aside questioned state results, and then proceed to discover if a victory total was possible without them. If undeterminable for reason, then a Congressional vote is Constitutionally indicated. But an anti-incumbent agenda would not have any of that, just a rubberstamp of a "ceremonial" President of the Senate for a political agenda-driven result contrary to the Peoples will.

In the land of exhilarant life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, I feel that you are a sobering man, Thomas.

    • Why?

Our founding fathers never intended a godless and immoral people would hold the reins of our government...  The founders warned us that our Republic and Constitution would only function properly for a moral and RELIGIOUS People.

The VP functioning as the President of the US Senate would not be a problem... If he or she is of strong Godly and moral character.  A  VP who fears God serves the people; rather than, the corrupt interests of the wicked.  VP Pence is merely a product of a Godless and immoral society.  Betrayal and corruption of every kind are being underwritten by the immoral and godless in America.  The people are reaping what they have sown.

Elect and appoint men and women of strong Godly Character and the Republic and its Constitution will function as intended... Keep sending the immoral and godless to govern and expect the plague of corruption to grow.  Godless men and women should NEVER be given power or the reigns of government... THAT SINGLE PRINCIPLE IS WHY... Why, our nation suffers betrayal at the hands of despots... local, state, and federal.

    • Amen to that; Benjamin Franklin warned us when he said "Madam, we have given you a Republic, IF you can keep it"!
