Richard Rivera murdered an NYPD cop execution-style in 1981. Now he has been recruited to sit on a panel tasked with coming up with police reform plans in New York.

Naturally, the family of the murdered cop as well as New York police are not thrilled.

What did Rivera do?

Rivera was convicted of the Jan. 12, 1981, murder of NYPD Officer Robert Walsh and spent 39 years in prison for his crime, the New York Post reported.

The killer was 16 years old when he a four other armed teenagers attempted to rob the BVD Bar and Grill in Queens.

Walsh, a 36-year-old cop with 12 years of service, was off-duty and at the bar when the gun-toting teens attempted their heist. The Post explained what happened next:

As the hero off-duty officer identified himself as a cop and reached for his gun to try to stop the robbery, Rivera shot him in the shoulder. Rivera then walked over to the officer as he lay helplessly wounded on the floor, pressed his gun to the cop's head and blasted him again, authorities said.

Rivera was released in 2019 and told the Post that he has since been working with a nonprofit to provide food and shelter for the homeless.

  • It's frigging insanity like this that makes me wonder if we're in end times!,,,,,,,,,,,,And no,I'm not kidding.

  • this is a disgrace to New York City because the mayor and the governor are not loyal to the New Yorker at all.

  • how soon until registered sex offenders sue on the grounds of being denied employment at a school

  • new york city is a cesspool of decadence!!!!!!!!!!  deblasio is a minion of satan!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why is this animal out of jail? Criminals are now in charge of everything.

    • Why was he not executed for killing a cop? Oh forgot, in NY they coddle cop killers and even give felons COVID vaccinations before deserving NY citizens.

  • I once lived and grew up in NYC and we had great respect for the cops. Heck, they were like neighbors and we treated them as such and they treated us in kind. I now live in a farm area in another state and we rarely have need of a deputy or trooper. In fact many of us carry concealed, not so much while doing chores in our town, but when we travel to the Democrat hell hole cities.

If I were a cop in NYC and this happened I would be tempted to call in sick or join with other cops and go on strike. Why would anyone work at a job where you would be a target. And why would anyone stand by and let a felon, an actual cop killer, have say over how you do your job? Damn that commie bas*ard!

  • If only cops would keep their oath to defend the constitution, especially the foreign and domestic part, then they would prevent people from being victims, would protect victims and wouldn't be victims, what a novel idea.  But instead they choose to make their oath meaningless, must be that blue code of a union?

    • Oleg, you somewhat talk just like the socialists who are running our cities. The cops work and serve the city; they are under orders of the mayor. They want to serve the people but hard to do sowhen controlled by a socialist/communist mayor. Damn that ba*tard.

    • I hear you Diane, however their oath is to the constitution not the mayor.  For example if a mayor allows looting that mayor becomes an accomplice and should be arrested by the cops, that's their job at the foundation level, if they don't they shoot themselves in the foot and this article is an example for that.
