Teaching the history of slavery as a matter of the historical record is a lot different than teaching that the white race is evil. That is what all the "hoopla" is about. Very few white people ever owned slaves in this country. Targeting white people as evil is the real evil. Surely you understand that.
We always have to judge history in the time it took place. Not fair looking back a few hundred years and judge them by today’s standards.

A new form of government-mandated slavery has become part of the terrain in the USA... Parents are: attending school board meetings, raising issue with policy concerns, and challenging belligerent board members policies even with election replacement.
Stealth education agendas are not possible anymore. Too many interested eyes are watching. Parents now insist on having a say in curriculum oversight, and also that they can remove the schools source of funding (the child) to another school if needed. Covid quarantining and home schooling displayed an achilles heel for public schools.
When do you think they will acknowledge their "talking points" full of lies have failed? I hope not until after the 2022 and 2024 election cycles .....
