The Department of Justice announced on Thursday that it will prosecute 74 people for crimes committed during violent protests that have occurred nightly in Portland, Oregon, since May 29.

The press release for the announcement said:

On many nights, after peaceful demonstrations end, various public and private buildings have been the target of vandalism and destructionLocal, state, and federal law enforcement working to protect these buildings and ensure the safety of peaceful demonstrators have been subjected to threats and assaults from violent agitators while performing their duties.

U.S. Attorney Billy J. Williams said:

Violent agitators have hijacked any semblance of First Amendment protected activity, engaging in violent criminal acts and destruction of public safety. The U.S. Attorney’s Office and our federal law enforcement partners are expeditiously working with local and state law enforcement to identify, arrest, and prosecute these individuals that are disrupting the rule of law in our communities and physically attacking our law enforcement officers and destroying property.

“Violent agitators not only delay real reform, but make our community less safe by keeping law enforcement from responding to other critical calls for service,” Williams said.

  • The portland DA should also be prosecuted for failing to jo his job, call it obstruction of justice.

    • Absolutely, until the leadership and politicians who incite and aid such conduct are arrested such acts of public mayhem will continue...

    • You are posting a link to an article from a commie newspaper that talks about billionaires hijacking pro charter school groups. I suggest you that that commie garbage elsewhere.

    • Tough shit Paul, sometimes you have to step outside of the box to get away from all the smoke. Both articles describe the Billionaires who are paying the agitators.

Next they will be handing out guns and ammo to the rioters after November 3rd. It will not be fireworks when they start shooting. And I ain't no fucking Commie. KAGA2020

Last time I check the First Amendment was still active, it will not if Creepy Uncle Joe gets in.

  • This makes it clear that the deep state is wide spread. Trump needs to drain the swamp. He will need to take total control over the country including the judiciary that is hindering him and Barr to bring the swamp to justice. I expect Trump to do just that after he gets another mandate by the American people who will give him a huge landslide victory in November. He is the only honest politician out there who keeps delivering on all his promises despite the deep state trying to torpedoe him whenever they can.

    • Excellent Post!

    • Draining the Swamp is but  an euphemism used so as not to harm the tender ears of those who insist that political correct language be used.  To drain  means that the substance is flowing, like water and can be drained, or pumped.

The swamp in this instance, is composed of people, rotten, decadent people who make a fine living off the backs of 'serving' the public rather than actually holding down a real job.  Obama come to mind? The Clintons? Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, and on and on and on?

Trump ( and I know the Trump haters, even the critics on this forum, hate to hear it) has exposed plainly who these people are, the creatures of the swamp.  And what has been the result of the exposure? Well, two of them are running against Trump after a three year hiatus of fraud failed, a phony investigation and impeachment play, and now violence, murder, and mayhem across the country,  That's what.

And guess what?  It's all Trump's fault.  Right?  Just read some of the postings, that would have you believe that Trump is an abject failure, that he doesn't uphold the law, the Constitution, or anything else.  Yes, read them.  And applaud them.  And watch your own country go to hell in a hand basket.

And then, to top it off, it is claimed that all is done to the glory of God.   But Trump?  No, not Trump.  He is the exception.  He is at fault. Not BLM, or Antifa, or the media, or the democrat party of crime unabated.  TRUMP is guilty.

Guess what.  This country may very well get it's wish if Trump is removed.

    • Dale, I agree with you. It's sad to me how much criticism about Trump we read here on this site. The only good news is that people here who criticize Trump will vote for him and the Republican slate anyway and no matter what and no matter how much steam they need to blow off here. So, let's cut them some slack and let's let them vent a little. They probably even feel smart and I think that makes them feel better. Their vote is secure anyway and that's the only thing that matters.

    • First, no one is blaming Trump for the crime...  many here only want Trump to do what he promised... to drain the swamp, too at least arrest the key figures... and send them to prison... he has done none of that... none.  Hillary Clinton is still walking around, James Comey, Clapper, Peter Strozyk, James Clapper,  John Brennan,  Gen. Hayden and on and on... not one indictment and certainly no one in jail.  That is a major failure in law enforcement no matter how you dress it up...

Next, the President is, in fact, the chief law enforcement officer of the United States, he is charged by the US Constitution to TAKE CARE the laws be faithfully executed... Article 2, Section 3... no one else has that duty assigned to them in the US Constitution... not the AG or the Dir. of the FBI... it is the President's Constitutional duty.  Of course, arresting key longtime political figures is a difficult task at best... however, the President took the job knowing that the swamp existed and he even promised to drain it... not happening.

So, what do we do... do we ignore the lack of law enforcement and roll over... kicking the can down the street as we have done with every other politician who has not acted to drain the swamp... or do we demand the President take steps immediately... not after the elections... to start draining the swamp.  How about putting Hillary away... she definitely violated a whole host of federal laws ranging from espionage to serious violations of the public records act. and the use of her office to enrich herself thru schemes of wholesale bribery.

Finally, don't blame the public for the President's failure to enforce the laws of the United States Faithfully... the LAW ENFORCEMENT BUCK SHOULD STOP WITH THE PRESIDENT... If the AG and FBI Director are not properly responding he has had nearly 4 years to fix that problem.... however, it sits their unchanged... AG Barr and Dir. Wray are not and have not indicted any of the key players operating out of the swamp. If the President is not responsible for the lack of law enforcement who is and who do they report too?
