I believe he is being poorly advised and indirectly threatened by members in his own party and staff... that he is being told he and his family could suffer serious criminal actions once he is out of the office or... possible impeachment again... if he pursues the prosecution of certain individuals or domestic and foreign policies not to the deep states liking. He remains in office primarily because of his massive popularity, and the deep states fear they would push the people over the edge if they removed him. They ... the deep state... would rather wait him out and in the mean-time keep him hogtied with bureaucratic rebellion and delays.

Glad you asked Jea9... Sen, McConnell is central in the Presidents on and off relationship with the RINO faction in the GOP. McConnell is the product of the deep state and swamp. He has surreptitiously blocked many of Pres. Trump's cabinet nominations keeping Pres. Trump from operating with his own appointed staff... handicapping his ability to control leaks and the unity of purpose needed to get around the bureaucracy loyal to the deep state. Without his own staff, the President has been persuaded to take actions that were not beneficial to his goals, and being a novice he was lead into some political situations where he should not have ventured. McConnell held impeachment over his head to keep Pres. Trump corralled and neutered on many of the law and order issues needing attention... specifically draining the swamp.
And yet the Judges were approved, why? Too obvious? I thought McConnell had a Come to Jesus moment when he and Elaine were targeted coming out of that restaurant by crazed leftists.
