Memes - Campus Election Engagement Project

Candidates opposed to teaching 'critical race theory' in the classroom have swept a local school board election in Texas, following a bitterly contested campaign that saw passions rise on both sides.

In Saturday's election in Southlake, candidates opposed to the new curriculum won the two open seats on the Carroll Independent School District board overwhelmingly, with nearly 70 percent of the vote.

The election followed a harsh dispute over plans the district introduced last summer to require diversity and inclusion training after a video went viral showing some of its high school students laughing as they shouted the N-word.

Parents packed school board meetings to oppose the plan, arguing it would create 'diversity police' and discriminate against white children. Some even pulled their kids out of the district, and one mother sued, pausing the plan's implementation.

  • Teachers Unions and the Department of Education both need to  go.  Jimmy Carter put both of them in place.  Anyone who graduated prior to 1975 graduated under their local and state education systems, not the Department of Education.  All the DOE does is take money from the States and dool it out to those States and institutions that do what the DOE tells them to do.  Most of the tax dollars sent to Washington and the DOE end up in Grants that are distributed to organizations that most Americans would not give freely to if asked.

    • Eliminate the DOE... reorganize it as an office of education and put it under the Department of Labor or Commerce to function as an advisory office with the goal to aid states and public education to identify the current and future educational needs of commerce, science, and our cultural institutions.  No grant money ... Let the Office of Educaion provide non-binding advice on what types of education are needed to meet our commercial, scientific and cultural institutions needs.

  • Now if we can use the momentum to rid ourselves of the Teacher Unions. They are a clear conflict of interest in the public sector.
