Memes, George Orwell, and 🤖: THE PARTY TOLD YOU TO REJECT THE EVIDENCE OF YOUR EYES AND EARS. IT WAS THEIR FINAL, MOST… | George orwell, 1984 quotes, Orwell quotes

George Orwell wrote his prophetic masterpiece 1984 barely three years after Europe was liberated from the oppressive grip of Nazi socialism.  Victory notwithstanding, Orwell remained preoccupied with the ease and speed with which a nation's freedom could be lost.  Freedom's strength was also liberty's fragility — a free people could choose to relinquish freedom.  This poignant lesson was Orwell's wake-up call that the great draconian nightmare hadn't ended — it was merely postponed.

This existential threat must have terrified Orwell so deeply that he envisioned the resurgence of a tyrannical society a mere 36 years after the blitzkrieg of World War II.  Even with today's 2020 hindsight, one wonders how he could have so accurately predicted the impending demise of civilization.  His only miscalculation was the appointed year.  Nineteen eighty-four came and went without fanfare despite the chilling effects of a "cold war," a term Orwell coined to describe his "peace that is no peace."  His timing may well have proven accurate were it not for one unknown unknown in Orwell's visionary acumen: Ronald Reagan.

Now, 36 years after 1984's forecast, 2020 offers itself as an eerie time portal — a way back to the future of Orwell's prophetic world of freedom lost.

Much like today, Orwell's world of 1984 was divided into three warring superstates: Oceania, which included Great Britain and the Americas; Eurasia, controlled by Russia; and Eastasia, dominated by China.  Oceania, a totalitarian regime founded from an anti-capitalist revolution, was ruled by the Party under Big Brother's leadership and enforced by the Thought Police (Thinkpol), which served as judge and jury for offenses against Party doctrine. Nonconformists were broken until they finally surrendered under their own free will.  As Orwell wrote: "We do not destroy the heretic ... we capture his inner mind, we reshape him."  Today, this psychological oppression and censorship is carried out by "cancel culture" agitators and platforms like Google, Facebook, and Twitter, which suppress all opposing viewpoints — mostly recently a New York Post story on the Bidens.

    • RIck, there is a fine line between unreasonable restrictions on speech and the regulation of dangerous speech... Where that line is drawn depends on the LAW and the application of the law by the Courts.

Hate Speech can incite a riot, murder, and other forms of PHYSICAL violence. Speech that incites violence is where the line should be drawn. Whenever speech promotes physical violence it should be illegal. Speech that merely offends should not be outlawed.  Other forms of speech such as sedition or treason should be illegal.  Speech that places the general public in danger, such as shouting fire in a crowded theater or shark on a packed beach should be illegal.  Illegal speech should be defined by law and subject to the discretion of a jury when applied.

    • What would be a better option, then? You don't think it woikd be clear when they speak murder and violence?

  • The only thing worse than COVID-19 would be BIDEN-20

  • None of this could happen if ABC CBS NBC CNN MSNBC NPR were not violating the U.S. Constitution "Abridge"

    • ABC CBS NBC CNN MSNBC NPR anti-U.S. Constitution rhetoric needs to be STOPPED!

    • Nope, none of this stuff would happen. Trump needs to take control of all media to ensure that only the truth will be disseminated. We the people cannot tolerate the anti-US Constitution media any longer. We want to hear the truth only, no more lies. Our strong leader Trump can and will guarantee that.

    • Most of us believe in and cherish our First Amendment freedoms, and your suggestion is not only antithetical to that guarantee of our rights, but one that should strike terror into the hearts of any liberty loving American patriot. It is a free people's duty to separate the lies from the truth, and if we are no longer capable of doing that then we neither deserve, nor are likely to maintain our free constitutional republic.

    • Rick, the deep state controlling msm appreciates your support.....

    • Nope, the constitutional conservatives who still believe in a self governing republic of free men, not subjects of an authoritarian central government or king, appreciate my support. If we were to open the Pandora's Box of press and speech censorship, what do you think that a future president like Obama would be able to do with that? By the way, try standing on a street corner in any liberal Democrat city like New York, San Francisco or Seattle wearing a Trump hat if you think that censorship is a good idea, because the socialist leftists and anarchists are way ahead of you. We constitutional conservatives do not want the government to abridge our rights in any way, and unfortunately that means that the speech of the idiots in the mainstream media have to be protected also. I don't listen to them, why do you?

    • Lawful speech must be protected under the 1st Amendment... however, incitement to riot, violence, sedition, or treason is not lawful.  It doesn't matter if you claim to be a member of the Press one's speech may not incite violence of insurrection among a few other prohibitions... like shouting fire in a crowded theater.  Burning an American Flag should be considered sedition as it is the emblem of our Nation and burning it shouts insurrection... We need to IMPEACH many, many of the sitting justices as their views of the law and Constitution have been sorely distorted by their Marxist education and associations.
