Eighteen people are facing charges for participating in rioting in Portland at a U.S. Courthouse.

The defendants were arrested between July 20 and July 23.

Large crowds have been gathering nightly and assaulting the courthouse and federal officers who are tasked with protecting it while local police officers stay away because of recent directives from city leaders.

U.S. Attorney Billy Williams announced on Friday the charges against the 18.

Five people were charged for alleged criminal conduct during rioting on July 20 that continued into the early hours of the next day.

Jennifer Kristiansen, 37, is charged with assaulting a federal officer; Zachary Duffly, 45, is charged with creating a disturbance; Wyatt Ash-Milby, 18, is charged with trespassing on federal property; and Caleb Ehlers, 23, and Paul Furst, 22, are charged with failing to comply with a lawful order.

    • Hear, hear!  These people are trying to take over our country, they are enemy combatants.  No one seems to make the connection to what happened in Venezuela.

    • The pattern of Marxist insurgencies is written all over the recent BLM, Antifa, and other radical left rallies, riots, and chaos... our government agents should know this and act accordingly.  However, it appears they are embracing the riots by apologizing for the chaos instead of slamming the rioters behind bars and throwing away the keys.

    • Marlene... These are federal arrest and federal charges.... the local US Attorney would prosecute ... the President may fire US Attorney's and their assistants at will or direct AG Barr to do so.

    • Well, Marlene... after reading the entire article it appears that minimal charges were preferred and that they were released without posting bail... that is not a good sign nor is it sending the right message.  Pres. Trump needs to fire the local US Attorney if this is what he calls enforcement.  Send in the 'A' team and charge these fools with insurrection, domestic terrorism, sedition, and set their ball at the max...

  • Check their backpacks for weapons, explosives...use "explosive sniffing" dogs. Take their photographs and keep them until the "demonstration" is over.

    • Don't forget drugs... make them all take drug tests and cite them if they are using... throw the proverbial book at them and make them post maximum bail amounts.

  • Will they get a slap on the wrist and released without bail?

    • It appears both... a slap and bail.  Trump needs to fire the local US Attorney and send in a 'A' team set to throw the book at them.

  • More than 18 should've been arrested and for sedition and treason for the ring leaders. A slap on the wrist will do nothing without teeth.
