On Thursday, during a committee hearing in the U.S. Senate on gun control legislation, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) engaged in a heated exchange over the constitutionality of her support for stricter gun control laws. In posing a question regarding the constitutionality of new gun laws, Cruz lectured Feinstein about the language in the Bill of Rights. Feinstein did not appreciate the lecture and informed Cruz that she was "not a sixth grader." "It seems to me that all of us should begin, as our foundational document, with the Constitution" Cruz began. "And the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights provides that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Felons do not need to register their 'guns'.
Consider a law that requires registration of firearms: a convicted felon cannot be convicted for failing to register a gun, because it is illegal under Federal law for a felon to possess a firearm; but a person who can legally own a gun, and fails to register it, can be punished. In short, the person at whom, one presumes, such a registration law is aimed, is the one who cannot be punished, and yet the person at whom such a registration law is not principally aimed (i.e., the law-abiding person) can be punished.

So, others have to or be punished.
Upside down, inside out government.
Comment by Eileen Miller on March 16, 2013 at 2:37am No Ms. Feinstein...we are not interested in your own self-righteous career. We are interested in protecting our Constitutional rights. So go brag about yourself to someone who cares and think about the lives of real potential victims from attackers that can be saved by honoring our second amendment. It is called compassion for our neighbors. It appears that you are lacking in this area, but we can see that you love and glorify yourself...even when this isn't the issue at hand. You are a drama queen...stick to the real issue at hand and stop shining a spotlight on yourself like you have the authority to limit the choices of good citizens in defending themselves. Drama queens are really crying out for unmerited attention like a spoiled child when nobody wants to hear their righteous rants. Stick to the issue.
Comment by fred miller on March 15, 2013 at 11:14pm for years now I have watched elected leaders of our country show their ignorance and have wondered about the decisions made by them . It is no wonder our country is in a mess as it is today. I was taught that ignorance was just being uneducated and combined with stupidity ignorance is very dangerous. Someway US citizens must realize that voting for and electing people to hold public office that are not only ignorant but also stupid such as Feinstein and so many others like her will eventually bring down the United States to third world status. We just can't fix stupid no matter how much money we spend on education. So I guess we as a nation will have to bottom out before we wake up and stop voting to get a cell phone and believing in false promises of free stuff. People like Obama, and the many Feinsteins and Shumers depend on our ignorance and stupidity to vote for them and continue to elect them to take and spend our money under false pretenses and make stupid decisions.
