NFL Seeks to Appease Military 
by Culture Beat: In a move clearly aimed at saving face for its dubious decision to forbid a #PleaseStand ad from the nonprofit American Veterans (AMVETS), because of it’s “political statement,” the National Football League announced that it will honor veterans during the Super Bowl. Not just any veterans — 15 Medal of Honor recipients will be a part of the opening coin-toss ceremony, including World War II veteran Hershel “Woody” Williams, who will flip the coin. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated, “The NFL is proud to honor our nation’s heroes at Super Bowl LII. These courageous individuals deserve to be recognized on America’s biggest stage.” However, the NFL has not backed off its ban of the AMVETS’ ad. While the NFL likes to claim it is seeking to remain politically neutral, in recent years it has allowed numerous commercials that have clearly expressed a political message. As Philip H. Devoe of National Review points out regarding last year’s Super Bowl ads, “Instead of avoiding political statements, the NFL seemed to be begging for them. First, there was the Budweiser ad, released days after President Donald Trump announced the travel ban, which told the story of the struggle the company’s immigrant founder faced to come to America. Then came the AirBnb ad, titled ‘We Accept,’ which contained the line, ‘we believe no matter who you are, where you’re from, who you love, or who you worship, we all belong.’ Finally, there was an Audi commercial … depicting a father wondering how he can tell his daughter that the world doesn’t value her as much as it values men.”
In reality, over the last few years, the NFL has been perfectly fine with political statements, so long as those statements leaned to the Left. ~The Patriot Post

Bongino points out the hypocrisy of the Democrats, supposedly the party of civil liberties, who have not only engaged in criminal behavior that has suppressed and attacked the civil rights of Americans but they have also gone suddenly silent on the offenses that their party has committed. He points out that the Democrats are “all scurrying like roaches when the lights come on. They know what happened here. { legalinsurrection.com } ~ In a few days we may get a look at the much ballyhooed memo written by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee, led by Devin Nunes... regarding alleged FISA abuse leading to spying on the Trump campaign and the role of the Steele Dossier in justifying that spying on a presidential candidate. Very soon we may also see a report by DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz into the DOJ/FBI handling of the liar-Hillary Clinton email investigation. What I expect those reports to show is a deep politicization of the highest levels of both DOJ and FBI. The signs are already there as to the effort to exonerate liar-Hillary. The Strzok-Page texts already made public show political hatred of Trump, and strongly suggest that such hatred influenced the liar-Hillary investigation, which was a charade. The days before taxes were called revenue enhancements, before government spending of our hard-earned money was called investments, or when there were terrorists instead of militants. Back then words mattered. Sure, at times they may have been harsh sounding like when this Oscar winner is instead of the Oscar goes to. That last one gives the impression that the best picture award is just another meaningless participation trophy; “the 10th place award goes to;” Of course, there is the recent silly transition from Illegal Alien to undocumented Alien. If they are simply undocumented for coming into the country illegally, then a murderer is simply an undocumented executioner, a kidnapper is an undocumented parent, someone who drives despite the fact their license was suspended an undocumented driver, and a burglar an undocumented resident etc., etc... https://lidblog.com/sanctuary-cities/ .

{ rickwells.us } ~ Illegal alien squatters who have been apprehended by ICE now apparently have the ambiguous “freedom to say goodbye”... as some unwritten “moral obligation” we have to those who have chosen to intrude onto our territory to spend time with their families before getting the appropriate kick in the rear. That is the latest bizarre determination by just another of the endless judicial agitators placed into positions of abuse by Hussein liar-nObama and liar-Bill Clinton. They have had the right to say goodbye to anyone here in the US all along. It’s getting them to do it and follow it up by leaving that has been a bit challenging for gutless politicians. The liar-nObama appointed Federal Judge, Katherine B. Forrest, wasn’t simply passing gas from her high and mighty perch, she emitted an equally offensive ruling on Monday in a case involving a “prominent” New York agitator. She ordered that Ravidath Lawrence Ragbir be released to his family. The mayor faces charges of money laundering, official misconduct, and exceeding limits on campaign contributions. NY Times Peddles More School Shooting Deception 
by Jordan Candler: We’re not even a full month into the new year and already The New York Times is peddling deceptive information to spur action on gun control. On Tuesday, following the unfortunate situation in Benton, Kentucky, in which innocent students were ruthlessly attacked (and two killed) by a fellow pupil, the Times ran with this narrative-infused headline: “School Shooting in Kentucky Was Nation’s 11th of Year. It Was Jan. 23.” Only in the sixth paragraph did it almost unnoticeably get around to printing this disclaimer: “Some of the shootings at schools this year were suicides that injured no one else; some did not result in any injuries at all.” How nice of the Times to let that cat out of the bag — you know, after the agenda-driven drivel was already featured in the headline. “A closer look at the statistics tells a different story,” says Daniel Lee, a former emergency medical technician, in The Wall Street Journal. Citing information from the notorious anti-gun group Everytown for Gun Safety, which news outlets consult for “gun statistics,” Lee explains that a slew of these incidents are extremely dubious when they are referred to as “school shootings.” For example, in Iowa, the window to a school bus was shattered courtesy of some dunderhead brandishing a pellet gun. In Texas, during a weapons class being hosted at a community college, a firearm was erroneously discharged. The list continues:
“A vehicle that pulled into a parking lot at Wiley College in Texas at 2 a.m. struck a wall, and someone inside fired shots apparently at random before fleeing the scene.
"A shot from off campus struck a building at California State University, San Bernardino at around 6 p.m.
"A 14-year-old Arizonan committed suicide without threatening anyone else.
"A veteran with post traumatic stress disorder shot himself in the parking lot of a closed Michigan school. No students were present.”
Pellet ammo hitting a school bus; an erroneous firearm discharge; off-campus ruckuses that spill onto campus property; suicides — does any of that sound even remotely like what most of us consider a “school shooting”? The Times does say in its reporting that the Benton ordeal “was one of at least 11 shootings on school property recorded [emphasis added] since Jan. 1, and roughly the 50th of the academic year.” But that’s not implied (intentionally so) in the headline, which sounds more like gruesome gun slaughters have gone down 11 times already. Moreover, you cannot possibly conflate the “shootings” above with what happened in Kentucky this week.
To be clear, any school shooting not in self-defense is unjustified. And we all would do well to comfort those hurting and do our part to change the culture that breeds such violence. But the bigger story here is that the Times is complicit in its own immorality. By overplaying the statistics, it strives to encourage more people to yearn for gun control. Disregarding the truth and facts are far more dangerous than anything that can conceivably happen in a free nation. ~The Patriot Post
