Big Tech Snuffing Free Speech; Google's Poisonous 'Dragonfly'

{gatestoneinstitute.org} ~ The internet, especially social media, has become one of the primary places for people to exchange viewpoints and ideas... Social media is where a considerable part of the current national conversation takes place. Arguably, big tech companies, such as Google, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, therefore carry a responsibility to ensure that their platforms are equally accessible to all voices in that national conversation. As private commercial entities, the social media giants are not prima facie legally bound by the First Amendment to the US Constitution, and are free to set their own standards and conditions for the use of their platforms. Ideally, those standards should be applied equally to all users, regardless of political or other persuasion. If, however, these companies choose what to publish and what not to publish, they should be subject to the same licensing and requirements as media organizations. The current media giants' favoring one kind of political speech over another -- progressive over conservative -- and even shutting down political speech that does not conform to the views of the directors, certainly skews the national political conversation in a lopsided way that conflicts with basic principles of democratic freedom of speech and what presumably should be the obligations of virtual monopolies. The question of whether such discrimination against conservative viewpoints constitutes a breach of law is currently the subject of a number of lawsuits. In October 2017, PragerU, a conservative educational website, filed a lawsuit against YouTube and its parent company, Google, for "intentional" censorship of conservative speakers, saying that they were "engaging in an arbitrary and capricious use of their 'restricted mode' and 'demonetization' to restrict non-left political thought."...

{wnd.com} ~ A deputy communications director for Minnesota’s dummycrats-Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party has been suspended for a week for a tweet threatening members of the GOP with “guillotines.”... It’s just the latest in a long list of statements advocating violence that have been made recently by dummycrats-Democratic leaders. The Washington Free Beacon reported William Davis was suspended for a week without pay after his posting, which he later deleted. It said: “10.31 – Halloween 11.2 – Day of the Dead 11.4 – set your clocks back 11.6 – take your country back.” Originally, it also included the line “11.7 Bring them to the guillotines.” The Free Beacon reported DFL chief Corey Day said: “It is completely inconsistent with the standards we hold our employees to. I have spoken with Will and about our social media standards and our expectation that he use appropriate judgment when commenting and posting. He regrets the post and has deleted it.” Day said the reference to execution, often used during the French Revolution, was “an inside joke.”... I'm surprise he wasn't banned from Facebook.

Trump threatens to end aid to 3 countries

 if citizens enter US illegally

{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ President Trump has warned three Central American countries that if they allow anyone to pass through their country to enter the U.S. illegally... that America will cease all foreign aid payments to them. In two tweets late Tuesday, Trump said that Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador have been put on alert that "all payments made to them will STOP (END)!" if the countries allow people passage on their way to the U.S.-Mexico border with the intention to enter the country illegally. Mexico mobilized hundreds of their federal officers to their southern border to prevent the passage of a 2,000-person caravan from Honduras that had plans to travel through Mexico to the U.S. In a follow-up tweet, Trump said that "anybody entering the United States illegally will be arrested and detained" before being deported to their country of origin. President Trump specifically mentioned those three countries, leaving it unclear if Mexico had received the same threat.

Today, a U.S. Treasury employee named Natalie Mayflower Sours-Edwards was arrested and charged with leaking to numerous reporters multiple financial reports about suspicious financial transactions related to: Paul Manafort, Richard Gates, Maria Butina, and others. EDWARDS, 40, of Quinton, Virginia, is charged with one count of unauthorized disclosures of suspicious activity reports and one count of conspiracy to make unauthorized disclosures of suspicious activity reports, both of which carry a maximum sentence of five years in prison. The statutory maximum penalties are prescribed by Congress and are provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencings of the defendants would be determined by the judge. Every organization from mortgage providers, to international financial institutions, to local U.S. main street banks, all the way to Western Union and convenience stores who generate money orders, are required to file CTR’s and SAR’s as part of the Treasury Department Banking Secrecy Act; a law requiring anyone engaged in financial services to assist government agencies in detecting and preventing money laundering...

IDF says 20 Gaza targets bombed, including tunnels; 

blames Hamas for rockets

{timesofisrael.com} ~ The Israeli military bombed 20 “military facilities” in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday morning... the army said, in response to a predawn rocket attack that struck a home in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba, causing damage but no injury. A second rocket fired from Gaza landed off the coast of the greater Tel Aviv area, known in Israel as Gush Dan, which consists of the metropolis itself along with a number of large suburbs.The Israel Defense Forces said it held the Hamas terror group, which rules the coastal enclave, responsible for the attack, regardless of which group specifically launched the rockets. “There are only two organizations in Gaza that have this caliber of rocket: Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad,” said IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus. “It’s not hard to narrow down who’s behind it.”...

Trump Is Making America's Economy Great Again

by Thomas Gallatin:  For the first time since 2008, the U.S. economy climbed back to the top, ranking as world’s most competitive economy by the World Economic Forum. The Forum’s report noted, “Economic recovery is well underway, with the global economy projected to grow almost 4% in 2018 and 2019.” This is indeed a pleasant and needed change from Barack scumbag/liar-nObama’s defeatist “new normal,” which, not coincidentally, began in 2009 — the first year the U.S. was not number one.

             The Wall Street Journal further reports, “America’s vibrant entrepreneurial culture and its dominance in producing a competitive labor market and nimble financial system ‘are among the several factors that contribute to making the U.S.’ innovation ecosystem one of the best in the world,‘ the report said.”
               Another significant piece of data to highlight here is the latest report on jobs numbers. Investor’s Business Daily notes, “August was the fifth month in a row in which the number of [job openings] exceeded the official number of unemployed. The 7.14 million of open jobs in August exceeded the number of unemployed, now at 5.96 million, by about 1.2 million. That’s never happened in the history of the series, which dates back to the end of 2000. Moreover, the number of new hires, at 5.78 million, is also a record.”
               In other words, President Donald Trump’s aggressive deregulation crusade combined with the Republicans’ tax-cut legislation is making America’s economy great again.
