{ spectator.org } ~ Sometime this week — the current schedule suggests it might happen Wednesday — a Democrat-majority House of Representatives will vote more or less purely along party lines to impeach President Donald Trump... That impeachment, in the words of liberal Georgetown Law Professor Jonathan Turley, is not a case of the unknowable. “It’s a case of the peripheral,” he said last week, testifying in front of a House Judiciary Committee with a majority of people from whom one should want to hide something valuable in a law book, as they would never look for it there. “We have a record of conflicts, defenses that have not been fully considered, un-subpoenaed witnesses with material evidence. To impeach a president on this record would expose every future president to the same type of inchoate impeachment.” Word is that the Democrats have commitments from some 228 of their members to move an impeachment in which the articles define no specific crime, and the evidence presented has yet to prove a single act of malfeasance against a president whom the Horowitz report, outlining Justice Department abuses of power during a previous attempt to tar Donald Trump as impeachable, clearly showed has been unduly and maliciously assaulted by activists of the same political party as those promulgating the current impeachment effort. It has long been accepted, as a matter of bipartisan political etiquette, that to move forward with an impeachment requires at least a patina of support across the aisle, and yet the Democrats — some of whose leadership is on record agreeing that impeachment requires bipartisan agreement — are going it alone. They’re going it alone in the face of polls showing that impeachment is a loser with independents and persuadable voters. And it’s getting worse, in the face of a defection from their side by the name of Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, who on Friday dumped the “D” next to his name in favor of an “R” because, he said, impeachment was a dead letter for him. These optics are bad, and they’ll surely get worse by the time the Democrats drag this thing across the Capitol to the Senate. But no, they’re nowhere near bad enough. They must get worse. Because when this thing gets to the Senate, which it will by the weekend, Mitch McConnell and the Republican majority will need to make a decision about how much time and oxygen it takes up before it’s finally tossed into the fire, as it should have been weeks ago...  https://spectator.org/send-in-all-of-the-clowns/?utm_source=American%20Spectator%20Emails&utm_campaign=2405f3c37c-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_12_17_03_33&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_797a38d487-2405f3c37c-104608113

{ dailycaller.com } ~ Former FBI general counsel James Baker said Monday that he felt “distressed” after reading the Justice Department inspector general’s report... laying out “significant” errors and omissions in the bureau’s applications to surveil former Trump campaign aide Carter Page. In an interview on CNN, Baker went further in his critique of the bureau than did FBI Director scumbag-James Comey, who said Sunday that he believed the FBI was “sloppy” in its efforts to obtain Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against Page. “Sloppiness is completely unacceptable. That is not the way you operate in front of a federal court. I don’t know what word you want to use, it’s terrible, it’s unacceptable, it shouldn’t happen. That is not the way we should be filing matters in front of a federal court,” Baker told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “I was distressed about it. I was completely distressed about it,” Baker said of his response to the inspector general’s (IG) findings.  Baker has testified that he personally reviewed the FISA applications against Page, given their political sensitivity. The IG report laid out 17 “significant” omissions and errors in the Page FISA applications.  FBI agents and officials failed to disclose exculpatory information regarding Page in the applications, which asserted that the Trump aide was a Russian agent. The IG report said that the FBI relied heavily on the infamous Steele dossier in the applications, but had failed to verify any of the allegations in the document...

{ lawandcrime.com } ~ President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman  Paul Manafort was hospitalized Tuesday after suffering a “cardiac event” in federal prison. Manafort, 70, is currently serving out a 7.5-year sentence in Pennsylvania... A Virginia jury found him guilty of tax fraud, bank fraud, and failure to disclose a foreign bank account in 2018. After that, Manafort pleaded guilty in Washington, D.C. to  conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to obstruct justice.Manafort’s health became a topic of concern in 2018 when he appeared for a court hearing in a wheelchair. He explained to the court that he required the wheelchair due to serious medical conditions related to his prison diet. He requested leniency in his sentencing due to his rapidly deteriorating health. Manafort won’t be making an appearance in court on Wednesday for a scheduled hearing. Recall: Manafort is also facing state mortgage fraud charges. Manafort attorney Todd Blanche told ABC News that he hadn’t spoken to his client since last week and refused to comment on his health status. Prior to news of his failing health on Tuesday, Manafort’s name came up at the sentencing of former associate and former Trump campaign deputy chairman Rick Gates. As reported by Law&Crime, a federal prosecutor told a judge that Manafort had offered Gates “monetary assistance” not to cooperate with the Mueller investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Molly Gaston said Manafort, whom Gates went on to testify against, offered Gates access to a legal defense fund on the condition that Gates agreed not to cooperate with the government’s investigation. Manafort is scheduled to be released in December of 2024.  https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/paul-manafort-hospitalized-after-suffering-a-cardiac-event-behind-bars/

McConnell Rejects scumbag-Schumer’s
Opening Offer on Impeachment Trial, Claims
It Would Set ‘Nightmarish Precedent’

{ nationalreview.com } ~ Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell rejected on Tuesday Minority Leader Chuck scumbag-Schumer’s suggestion that the Senate agree to call certain witnesses... as part of their resolution detailing the parameters of the impending impeachment trial. scumbag-Schumer released his suggestion to the press before sending it to McConnell. “It is not the Senate’s job to leap into the breach and search desperately for ways to get to ‘guilty,’” McConnell said. The Majority Leader said scumbag-Schumer’s proposal would set a “nightmarish precedent” for future impeachment trials. “The Senate is meant to act as judge and jury, to hear a trial, not to re-run the entire fact-finding investigation because angry partisans rushed sloppily through it,” McConnell  continued. The House is expected to vote this week on two articles of impeachment against President Trump, for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. With a solid majority of Democrats planning to approve both articles,  the impeachment process will most likely continue to the Senate, where McConnell and scumbag-Schumer must agree on the parameters of an impeachment trial. McConnell faces pressure from both Republicans and Democrats to call certain witnesses the House either did not call or was not able to bring to testify. Republicans want to hear from Hunter Biden and Rudy Giuliani, while Democrats want to call on White House acting chief-of-staff Mick Mulvaney, whose appearance at House hearings the Democrats were unable to compel. For his part, McConnell slammed the incoming articles of impeachment as “the thinnest, least thorough presidential impeachment in our nation’s history.”

{ foxnews.com } ~ A trail of reported tornadoes broke out across parts of the southeastern U.S. on Monday, damaging homes and churches and killing at least three people, local officials say... Forecasters said radar showed possible twisters as the "widespread" weather system charged across the region. The Storm Prediction Center reported trees were broken or toppled from Texas to Alabama. Vernon Parish, Louisiana, Chief Deputy Calvin Turner confirmed earlier Monday at least one death after what appeared to be a large tornado left a path of destruction. "We've got damage at lots of places. We've got a church where the fellowship hall is torn all to pieces. Some homes are hit. Right now we're having trouble just getting to places because of tress that are down," Turner said. Damage also was reported about 25 miles away in DeRidder. Later Monday, two storm-related deaths were confirmed in northern Alabama. "I can confirm two fatalities and houses or mobile homes destroyed," Town Creek Mayor Mike Parker said. "Emergency personnel are working the scene now." As many as five other people were hurt there, officials added. Entergy Mississippi, an electric utility company, reported more than 2,000 power outages in the state, concentrated mostly west of Jackson along the path of a storm where a tornado was spotted...   https://www.foxnews.com/us/louisiana-tornadoes-reported-church-homes-damaged

{ foxnews.com } ~ Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan’s former president who has been living outside the country, was sentenced to death in absentia Tuesday on charges of high treason... stemming from his decision to suspend the constitution and detain judges in 2007. Salman Nadeem, a government law officer, told Reuters that Musharraf was found guilty of Article 6 “for violation of the constitution of Pakistan.”  The three-person court ruled in favor of the sentence 2-1. “For the first time in the history of Pakistan... a military dictator has been punished by a court of law," Hamid Ali Khan, a senior Supreme Court lawyer, said following the verdict. But Akhtar Shah, one of Musharraf's attorneys, said he would appeal. “Musharraf today sent me a message, saying he is ready to come to Pakistan but his doctors are not allowing him to travel," the lawyer told The Associated Press following the ruling. He added that Musharraf offered to give a statement to the court through a video link but the request was denied. Musharraf has been living in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and is said to be very ill and unlikely to travel home to face the sentence. Pakistan and the UAE have no extradition treaty and Emirati authorities are unlikely to arrest Musharraf. If he were to return, however, Musharraf would have the right to challenge his conviction and sentence in court. Musharraf took power in a 1999 coup but was forced to step down in 2008. The charges have been in place since 2013 and he was allowed to leave on bail in 2016 to seek medical treatment abroad. In an infamous purge in 2007, Musharraf imposed a state of emergency and placed several key judges under house arrest in the capital, Islamabad, and elsewhere in Pakistan...   https://www.foxnews.com/world/pervez-musharraf-former-president-of-pakistan-sentenced-to-death-for-treason-report

The Rainbow Mafia's Hallmark Card

Nate Jackson:  Netflix has declined to remove a “comedy” special portraying Jesus Christ as homosexual, despite well over one million signatures to a petition demanding it. Just don’t hold your breath waiting for the companion show about Muhammad — even the Rainbow Mafia won’t challenge Muslims. No, when it comes to homosexuality, the only powerless people are Christians who remain faithful to Scripture.

Beyond the Netflix episode, that was evident in the dispute over an ad on the Hallmark Channel. Zola, a company providing services for wedding planning and registry, created the attention-seeking ad, featuring two women kissing at a same-sex “wedding” ceremony. After objections from One Million Moms, a division of the American Family Association, Hallmark pulled the ad.

A win for families, right?

Not so fast. The Rainbow Mafia isn’t defeated so easily, because no one uses pressure tactics better. As Allie Beth Stuckey put it, “The left doesn’t like other people playing the game they created.” Within hours, Hallmark reversed its decision, issuing a groveling apology for making the “wrong decision” and “for the hurt and disappointment this has caused.” Hilariously, the company claimed, “It is never Hallmark’s intention to be divisive or generate controversy.” But without the remotest sense of self-awareness, Hallmark went on to tout its LGBTQ-friendly record and promise to work “with GLAAD to better represent the LGBTQ community across our portfolio of brands.”

How about apologizing to American families forced to educate their too-young children about same-sex marriage because their kid saw it in a commercial during a family movie? As One Million Moms put it, “Until recently, Hallmark had a good record for keeping their movies and commercials family-friendly. Now, parents can no longer trust Hallmark because Hallmark is no longer allowing parents to be the primary educators when it comes to sex and sexual morality. Parents need to know they could now come face-to-face with the LGBT agenda when they sit down to watch the Hallmark Channel.”

We have written on numerous occasions about this insidious indoctrination. Establishing emotional connections in children — even via a commercial — is very effective in producing adults who won’t dare question the leftist narrative.

By the way, wasn’t it just recently that leftists were losing their minds over an ad for an exercise bike because it represented “the patriarchy”?
