nOBAMA GIVES WARREN A LIFT IN WALL ST. WAR
USA Today: “President nObama will order the Labor Department on Monday to begin developing new rules for financial managers who handle retirement accounts for working Americans. … nObama will make the announcement during Monday afternoon visit to the offices of AARP, according to the White House schedule. Among guests at the speech: Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., an outspoken critic of some Wall Street practices.”

Hilly shucked in Iowa over foreign fundraising -   Ken Thomas checked in with Iowa Democrats to see how the flap over foreign contributions to the Clinton foundation was playing: “‘There was a reason they stopped taking foreign government donations when [Hilly Clinton]was secretary of state,’ said Mike Carberry, a Johnson County, Iowa, supervisor and former county Democratic chairman. He said the foundation should reinstate the policies used from 2009 to 2013. ‘It doesn’t seem right.’ … Beyond the headlines, many Democrats say it shows the need for Clinton to begin actively campaigning and build an apparatus better suited to rapidly respond to these types of critiques. ‘There’s a vacuum,’ said Tom Henderson, the chairman of the Polk County, Iowa, Democrats, who noted potential candidates such as former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb are visiting soon. ‘She isn’t doing anything’ in Iowa, he said.”  -Fox News

WITH YOUR SECOND CUP OF COFFEE...
A young photographer and a group of Marines staked their claim on history with a flag and a message. Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal saw a few Marines raising an American flag in the rubble atop Mt. Suribachi on the island of Iwo Jima, scene of one of the most intense battles of World War II. Just as he reached the scene to capture the moment, however, the flag was already up. Rosenthal saw another group raising an even larger flag nearby, and seized his chance. He took the photograph that would go on to win him a Pulitzer Prize and a place in American history. The image of the Marines captured on this day 70 years ago served as the model for the Marine Corps War Memorial and continues to serve as a symbol of the determination and pride that the Marines embody.  SENATE DEMS KEEP UP BLOCKADE FOR nOBAMA AMNESTY
With just days left to avoid a shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, Senate Democrats are expected to block a fourth attempt to start debate on a House-passed bill that would fund DHS while rolling back President nObama’s temporary amnesty for illegal immigrants. The impasse continues amid reports that Senate Republicans are considering a plan in which they would split off legislation attacking the president’s executive actions, but it’s unclear whether conservative Republicans would go along with de-coupling it from DHS funding. “‘We would try to have a vote on just that issue,’ a Republican aide told the Hill. ‘Does it have to be addressed as part of DHS, or can it be addressed separately? If we can get to that issue and have a vote on that issue, then you come back to DHS appropriations.’” With the House returning Tuesday evening, just three days remain for Congress to work out a legislative solution.

nObama’s pen to find new use this week -   NYT: “Wielding the weapon of his pen, President nObama this week is expected to formally reject a Republican attempt to force construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline. But in stopping the transit of petroleum from the forests of Alberta to the Gulf Coast, Mr. nObama will be opening the veto era of his presidency. The expected Keystone veto, the third and most significant of Mr. nObama's six years in office, would likely be followed by presidential vetoes of bills that would make changes in the Affordable Care Act, impose new sanctions on Iran and roll back child nutrition standards, among others.”  -Fox News

Cables Show CIA Tried to Connect with Hamas Despite U.S. Ban
(investigativeproject.org) - Spy cables reveal that the CIA attempted to interact with Hamas, despite U.S. government prohibitions on contact with the designated Palestinian terrorist organization, the Guardian reports...The cables, obtained by the Al Jazeerah network, indicate that American intelligence was eager to establish connections with Hamas and recruit agents within the Gaza Strip. According to the leaked documents, a CIA officer and South African intelligence agent met in East Jerusalem during fighting between Hamas and Israel. A cable sent to Pretoria on June 29, 2012 revealed that the CIA agent "seems to be desperate to make inroads into Hamas in Gaza and possibly would like SSA [the South African State Security Agency] to assist them in gaining access." In return, the South African agency suggested that the SSA would be able to access American intelligence priorities and understand CIA collection methods throughout the proposed interaction between the CIA and Hamas.       http://www.investigativeproject.org/4785/cables-show-cia-tried-to-connect-with-hamas

GOP governors: nObama is an obstructionist
(David M. Drucker) - Republican governors on Monday blasted President nObama for resisting compromise with the GOP-controlled Congress...During a news conference after meeting with nObama at the White House, Republican governors criticized the president for vowing to veto legislation authorizing the construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, and similarly threatening to reject a House-passed bill that would fund the Department of Homeland Security while reversing his executive immigration order. The GOP tied language reversing “executive amnesty” to legislation funding the Department of Homeland Security, which runs out of money on Saturday.       http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/gop-governors-obama-is-an-obstructionist/article/2560585

Beef producers say nObama is trying to kill their industry
(FoxNews.com) - A panel of nutrition experts recruited by the nObama administration to craft the newest dietary guidelines suggested last week that the government should consider the environment when deciding what people should eat...The report, which was presented to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, bills itself as a way to “transform the food system” and that’s got a lot of people in the heartland and those elected to represent them in Washington fuming. “Generations of cattle farmers and ranchers have been and continue to be conscientious about conserving limited natural resources,” Sen. Chuck Grassley R-Iowa, told FoxNews.com. “They rely on the land and the environment for their livelihood. Those facts get lost in Washington and in arguments that eating red meat hurts the environment.” How can environmentalist associate eating red meat hurts the environment. This hogwash.        http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/02/23/beef-producers-say-obama-is-trying-to-kill-their-industry-telling-americans-to/?cmpid=NL_fntop

Israeli Security forces nab terror cell planning series of attacks
(Stuart Winer) - Israeli security forces busted a Hamas ring in the Hebron area planning a series of terror attacks, including suicide bombings, the Shin Bet security service said Monday...The Shin Bet said it arrested 11 members of the cell in January, and that the group had carried out a failed bomb attack on Israeli troops in the West Bank. Along with the arrests, security forces seized two sub-machine guns and explosives the cell allegedly planned on using to target Israelis, the Shin Bet said.

Dem Equates Black American Citizens With Illegal Alien Squatters
(Rick Wells) - In many ways the people of the state of Oregon suffer from the same liberal brain infection as their neighbors to their immediate south. The liberals of California spread their political perversion like an aids patients at a bath house orgy, infecting all of those around them in a race to see who will succumb to their disease first...There is no cure for California liberalism; one can only avoid contact, which requires extreme vigilance. Just as many Muslims who flee oppressive societies bring with them a need to transplant that seed of oppression, liberals of California move to neighboring states and inevitably bring with them their endemic expansive government, erosion of American values and degradation of individual liberty.       http://www.rickwells.us/lying-democrat-equates-black-american-citizens-with-illegal-alien-squatters-wheres-eric-holder-or-scumbag-Sharpton/

Senate Democrats For The Fourth Time Deny DHS Funding
(Rick Wells) - Are Senate Democrats simply cowards, lying partisan hacks, or treasonous traitors to their nation and its people? It’s apparent that every one of the 46 Democrats is suited to, at a minimum, wear the wretched hat of an outright traitor to America and its citizens...Most deserve recognition under the first two shameful monikers as well. On Monday, for the fourth consecutive time, every Senate Democrat faced a choice between honoring and upholding their oath to the Constitution, our nation and the American people, or siding with their criminal communist leadership. They unanimously chose to turn their backs on their nation. Each one opted to violate their own oaths of office and to aid in the destruction of our representative government by aligning themselves with the illegitimate dictator who has usurped their own powers. They clearly are immoral cowards, lying to their constituents and betraying our nation.       http://www.rickwells.us/pleased-to-help-democrats-for-the-fourth-time-deny-dhs-funding-support-tyranny-over-constitution-american-people/

Dems run away from nObamacare penalty they imposed
(Byron York) - The Democrats who wrote and passed the Affordable Care Act were sure of two things: The law had to include a mandate requiring every American to purchase health insurance, and it had to have an enforcement mechanism to make the mandate work...Enforcement has always been at the heart of nObamacare. The Internal Revenue Service is the enforcement arm of nObamacare, and with tax forms due April 15, Americans who did not purchase coverage and who have not received one of the many exemptions already offered by the administration are discovering they will have to pay a substantial fine.       http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/dems-run-away-from-obamacare-penalty-they-imposed/article/2560591

Media Accepting nObama’s Spin on the Economy
(Roger Aronoff) - With as many lies and distortions that proceed from this scandal-plagued administration, one might think that mainstream reporters would turn a skeptical eye toward another one of President nObama’s carefully crafted narratives...Each narrative is designed to push “progressive” policies or to cover up administration mismanagement. But our corrupt media reflexively cheer whenever the leftist agendas for amnesty, nObamacare, climate change, and economic regulation are mentioned. Add to the list of official narratives the hyped state of the economy, the successes of which cannot fail to be championed because they reflect on the viability of the current President’s policies. Yet President nObama’s claims about how his administration’s efforts have boosted the economy, or that the economy is actually improving, are based on cherry-picked data.       http://www.aim.org/aim-column/media-accepting-obamas-spin-on-the-economy/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=email022415&utm_medium=email

Healthcare.gov Still Not Finished and Costing Money
(Mark Horne) - Way back in December 2013, Bob Allen pointed to the Wall Street Journal’s report on the White House claim to have fixed Healthcare.gov...This weekend miracle defies other evidence, such as the recent admission by an HHS official that 30% to 40% of the exchanges are still unfinished. Much of this involves the “back end” of the exchange operation that provides information to insurers but that consumers don’t see. Now it is 2015. Guess what? The “back end” of the website still doesn’t work!
Why is Healthcare.gov still not finished when we have spent so much money on it?

The media's slimy assault on Gov. Walker
(
David Limbaugh) - I’m not sure which is more absurd, for the media to be up in arms about former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s statement that he doesn’t believe President nObama loves America or for them to mug Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for declining to weigh in on the subject...Many of us have been speculating for years about nObama’s affinity for this country as founded. He promised to fundamentally transform this nation – something he wouldn’t have done if he embraced the American idea. There is so much evidence that nObama has a different feeling about America than all of our past presidents that it borders on disingenuous to pretend otherwise.       http://www.wnd.com/2015/02/the-medias-slimy-assault-on-gov-walker/

Arab Armies

(factsnotfantasy.blogspot.com) - The ongoing Syrian conflict, the fall of the Yemeni government, the burning of the Jordanian pilot, and other events make one wonder why even those Arab nations with significant military capabilities tend not to use them against a common enemy.

The attacks on ISIS by the Jordanian air force have been a dramatic example of what could be done to eliminate this threat to the entire region if the other military forces would join in a united effort.

This raises the question of why the armies of various Middle Eastern nations do not seem to be engaged in destroying the Islamic State (ISIS). The answer may be found in a casual look at recent history; these armies have not been successful on the field of battle. Most recently what passed for the Iraqi army fled when ISIS took over much of northern Iraq.

Since 1948 the Arab nations that attacked Israel were repeatedly defeated. The Iraq-Iran war conducted by Saddam Hussein finally stalemated after eight years. Later it took the leadership of the U.S. to drive Saddam’s Iraq out of Kuwait.

In October 2014, the Business Insider published a useful ranking of Middle Eastern militaries put together by Armin Rosen, Jeremy Bender, and Amanda Macias. Ranked number one should surprise no one. It was Israel which has a $15 billion defense budget, 176,000 active frontline personnel, 680 aircraft, and 3,870 tanks.

Unlike previous administrations dating back to Truman, while the U.S. is technically still an ally of Israel, in reality the nObama administration has demonstrated animosity toward the only democratic nation in the region. Indeed, the U.S. has been engaged in lengthy negotiations with Iran that would ultimately permit it to become a nuclear power. There isn’t a single Middle Eastern nation that wants this to occur and it has greatly harmed U.S. relations with them.

Ranked second militarily is the Turkish Armed Forces with an $18.1 billion defense budget, 410,000 active frontline personnel, 3,675 tanks and 989 aircraft. This nation has shifted heavily toward being an Islamist state as opposed to the secular one it had been since the end of the Ottoman Empire in the last century. Its military hasn’t been involved in a conflict since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. It is a NATO-allied military but that doesn’t mean it will support NATO in a future conflict. It was used against the Kurdish separatist movement in the 1980s, but these days the Kurdish Peshmerga, between 80,000 and 100,000 strong is now ranked as “one of the most formidable fighting forces in the Middle East” and it is likely the Kurds will carve their own nation out of an Iraq which barely exists these days.

Number three among the Middle East militaries is Saudi Arabia with a $56.7 billion defense budget, 233,500 active frontline personnel, 1,095 tanks, and 652 aircraft. It has been closely allied with the U.S. for decades, but the nObama Iranian nuclear negotiations have negatively affected that relationship. One can assume the same from its other allies, Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates. Saudi Arabia has also provided “substantial assistance” to post-coup Egypt.

The rankings put the United Arab Emirates a #4, Iran at #5, Egypt at #6, Syria at #7, Jordan at #8, Oman at #9, Kuwait at #10, Qatar at #11, Bahrain at #12, Iraq at #13, Lebanon at #14, and Yemen at #15.  The Business Insider article noted that “The balance of power in the Middle East is in disarray” and that’s putting it mildly.

Debka File, an Israeli news agency, reported on February 5 that “The group of nations U.S. President Barack nObama assembled last September for an air offence against ISIS inroads in Iraq and Syria is fraying.”

It deemed the participation of the UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Bahrain as “more symbolic than active” noting that Iraq has no air force to speak of and an army in name only while the Saudis “allotted a trifling number of planes to the effort” and Bahrain has no air force at all. The UAE has the biggest and most modern air force and it has reportedly joined with Jordan to attack ISIS strongholds.

Debka reported that the coalition is “adamantly opposed to nObama’s policy…and loath to lend their air strength for its support” and that is very good news for ISIS, but not for the rest of the Middle East.

In October, Commentary magazine published an analysis by Ofir Haivry, vice president of the Herzl Institute in Jerusalem, about the “Shifting Alliances in the Middle East.”  It began with the observation that “The old Middle Eastern order has collapsed” as “the ongoing Arab uprisings that begin in late 2010 have unseated or threaten to unseat every Muslim government in the region.”

Postulating ‘five broad, cross-regional, and loosely ideological confederations”, Haivry concluded that “Perhaps our biggest challenge is not a new Middle East, but a new United States in paralysis. Under the Obama administration, America’s historic aspiration to shape events in the region has given way to confusion and drift.”

It should not come as that much of a surprise that Israel has been developing intelligence and security relations with several Arab nations, including what the Middle East Monitor described as “growing secret cooperation between Israel and Saudi Arabia.”  That sounds like very bad news for Iran and very good news for the rest of us.
