Watchdog Exposes $15.3 Billion
in Congressional Waste

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Congress has stealthily packed $15.3 billion worth of earmarks into its 2019 fiscal year budgets despite its moratorium on the practice... according to a new report. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW), a Washington, D.C.-based taxpayer-watchdog group, released its annual ‘Pig Book' that tracks wasteful spending within the halls of Congress. Sens. Rand Paul (R., Ken.), Ben Sasse (R., Neb.) and Reps. Ted Budd (R., N.C.), Tim Burchett (R., Tenn), Bill Flores (R., Texas), and Tom McClintock (R,.Calif.) joined CAGW's president, Tom Schatz, Wednesday at the Phoenix Park Hotel in D.C. for an event on their findings and the state of earmark reform. CAGW's investigation discovered more than 280 earmarks that are costing taxpayers a total of $15.3 billion for the current fiscal year, an increase of nearly 22 percent from its 2018 levels. The figures were gathered combing through spending tacked onto appropriations bills and is the largest amount approved by Congress since 2010. "Dozens of members of Congress from both parties are publicly and privately lobbying for this wasteful and corrupt practice to return," said Schatz. "Pushing pork does not drain the swamp and it won't restore integrity to Washington. One of the best ways to clean up Washington's addiction to waste is for Congress to enact a permanent, statutory ban on earmarks." The watchdog says that pork-barrel spending has increased drastically from 2017 due to the passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act, which "obliterated the spending restraints imposed by the 2011 Budget Control Act and paved the way for 13.4 percent increase in spending in FY's 2018 and 2019." In 2017, $6.8 billion went towards earmarks, a figure that is 125 percent lower than the current fiscal year. CAGW highlighted a number of such instances, including $30 million for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), D.C.'s metro rail system that is notorious for "train derailments, track fires, disabled trains, long delays, and even fatalities." This amount accounts for nearly 60 percent of the money it has received in total earmarks since 2009. However... if Michael Horowitz has started looking deeply into the DOJ National Security Division (DOJ-NSD), via their historic use of FARA definitions to submit Title-1 surveillance warrants against U.S. persons…. well, there’s a strong possibility such an IG investigation would take much longer than expected. Additionally, if the scumbag/liar-nObama DOJ-NSD was using the appearance of FARA violations as the predicate for FISA warrant authority now seems likely; and that sketchy predicate was the basis for keeping all OIG oversight away from the NSD again, likely; then the entire political system in/around Washington DC would be opened as a target for surveillance. Anyone targeted under such a sketchy legal predicate for lobbying violations, would unknowingly be carrying their Title-1 surveillance virus into every interaction. The downstream ramifications are almost beyond imagining..

{ answeringmuslims.com } ~ For many years since I can remember, I would hear many Muslim apologists say that unlike the Bible, the Qur'an has been perfectly transmitted and preserved... They would repeatedly affirm that the Qur'an that we have in our hands today is the very same Qur'an that existed in the time of Muhammad and that not a letter, not a word, not even a sentence has gone missing or has been changed. Many academics and Christian scholars / apologists have always recognized and argued that this claim was false and merely Islamic propaganda. The very fact that the third Caliph Uthman had to standardize the text of the Qur'an demonstrated that about 20 years after Muhammad's death in 632 A.D. there were competing readings in the various copies of the Qur'an throughout centers of the Islamic Empire. Our Muslim friends like to say that this has to do with the 7 different recitations or ways of reading the Qur'an in various dialects, but if this was the case this would not explain Uthman's order of the wholesale destruction of the actual manuscripts of the Qur'an. Many Muslims are upset when the Qur'an is disrespected by being torn or burned, yet Uthman had copies of the Qur'an burned, and therefore destroyed! In this sense, the first to burn the Qur'an was the Caliph Uthman! Uthman ordered that all surviving copies of the Qur'an in the Empire be collected and burned and that a standardized version of the Qur'an authorized by him become the "authorized version" for the whole Islamic world. One of the major problems is that we have none of these Qur'anic manuscripts that come from the Caliph Uthman. One would think that with the Islamic view of preservation and guarding sacred texts that at least some of these manuscripts from Uthman's time would survive to this day, but alas, there are none. Where is the actual standardized Qur'an of Uthman's day? Why has not even one survived? The only manuscript copies of the Qur'an that have survived are post-Uthmanic, i.e., they come after Uthman and they are filled with different readings called textual variants. In Dr. Daniel Brubaker's new book Corrections in Early Qur'an Manuscripts: Twenty Examples, he demonstrates that the surviving copies of the manuscripts of the Qur'an are riddled with textual variants. In some cases, new words like "Allah" are added in 9 different manuscripts in places where Allah's name does not appear in the original text.. This is strange indeed for how can a Muslim scribe forget to add what is considered the holiest name of all in Islam, namely, Allah? In other cases Dr. Brubaker shows how entire sentences are taped over and written over with a new script. In other cases we see manuscripts of the Qur'an that have been erased called palimpsests and a new script is written on top of the erased script. With ultraviolet lighting scholars are now able to read the underlying text and Brubaker has found that the reading that was erased differs from the reading that was written over it. In some cases, pronouns are changed from "he" to "they". This work by Brubaker includes photographs of the various manuscripts. The subtitle of the book suggests there are 20 examples, but there are 2 extra examples which brings the number up to 22. This book is only a starter as Brubaker will be writings a more extensive book on this subject. Absurd Anti-Trump 'Watergate' Show Continues
Thomas Gallatin: Democrats pressed forward Monday into new levels of absurdity in their political crusade to label President Donald Trump a criminal deserving not only impeachment but prison. Sitting before the House Judiciary Committee to offer his obviously politically biased opinion on the Robert Mueller report was former lawyer to Richard Nixon and current CNN contributor John Dean. Why did the Democrats bring him to testify? He has absolutely no connection to Trump, Mueller, “collusion,” or anything else in government since his criminal conviction as a figure in the Watergate scandal back in the ‘70s.
Trump offered his answer: “Can’t believe they are bringing in John Dean, the disgraced Nixon White House Counsel who is a paid CNN contributor. No Collusion — No Obstruction! Democrats just want a [2016] do-over which they’ll never get!”
Republicans had a field day, blasting Dean and Democrats for their clear attempt to paint Trump as Nixon. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) noted, “Dean has made a cottage industry out of accusing presidents of acting like Richard Nixon.” He also asked committee chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), who interrupted and stopped his questioning of Dean, “I would like to know how much money he makes based on making these accusations and exploiting them for his own economic benefit and you’re saying that’s out of line?”
But it was Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) who hit the nail on the head, observing, “There are similarities … with regard to Watergate. In both, an administration was seeking to illegally spy on another candidate. In both, people were hired to attempt to gather evidence that could be used against a candidate. In Watergate, the Committee to Reelect the president hired burglars to break into the DNC headquarters. In Watergate, administration officials tried to find ways to use federal dollars to pay for their criminal spying.”
Gohmert continued, “In Russiagate, members of the federal government used the intel, DOJ, and FBI communities to attempt to defeat a presidential candidate, then when that failed to have him removed from office. In Russiagate, the scumbag/liar-Clinton campaign and the FBI paid a foreign agent to collude with Russians to produce opposition research — that turned out completely false, as the Mueller report indicated — that could be used to commit a fraud on the FISA court and get multiple warrants to spy on opposition campaigns.”
The Democrats’ aim in this ridiculous show trial is to accomplish two things. First, tar Trump as an illegitimately elected criminal so as to damage his reelection prospects, and second, distract Americans from following the actual scandal that is unfolding as the Justice Department investigates those government officials involved in initiating and coordinating Russiagate. ~The Patriot Post
