{rickwells.us} ~ Senator Tom Cotton joined Chuck Todd on Sunday’s Meet the Press program, weighing in on President Trump working with Democrats rather than his own party... Todd says President Trump “Struck a deal on the debt ceiling with Democrats, Republicans weren’t in the room. He apparently seems to strike, at least the outlines of what a deal on DACA will look like, which apparently is no funding for the wall, without Republican leaders in the room. Are you concerned about this?” Senator Cotton takes the position that there is no deal, that he’s been asked to help craft one by sitting down with Democrats... https://rickwells.us/cotton-citizenship-illegals-americans/

{jpost.com} ~ Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, an Iranian military officer currently acting as the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, issued a menacing statement against the Jewish state hours before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu... is expected to bring up the ever-imminent threat posed on Israel by Tehran in his encounter with US President Donald Trump. The two are slated to meet at the UN for the General Assembly's 72nd session held at the NY headquarters. "We will destroy the Zionist entity at lightning speed, and thus shorten the 25 years it still has left," Iranian media quoted Mousavi as saying in reference to a recurring threat by Iran and its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to take down the State of Israel in the next quarter century..http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Iranian-General-We-will-turn-Tel-Aviv-and-Haifa-into-dust-505406

If and when Hajer Harb, a courageous Palestinian journalist,
recovers from cancer and returns to Gaza, she will be arrested by
Hamas and sent to prison for six months
by Khaled Abu Toameh
{gatestoneinstitute.org} ~ Hajer Harb, a courageous Palestinian journalist, has been found guilty by Hamas of exposing corruption in the health system in the Gaza Strip... On September 13, a Hamas court sentenced her to six months in prison and a fine. It was the first sentence of its kind to be passed on a female journalist in the Gaza Strip. Harb, however, is unlikely to serve her prison term in the near future; she recently left the Gaza Strip to Jordan, where she is receiving medical treatment after being diagnosed with cancer. Her illness, however, did not stop Hamas from pursuing legal measures against her for her role in exposing corruption in the Palestinian health system. Instead of suspending the legal proceedings against her, the Hamas court chose to sentence her to prison in absentia..https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11016/palestinian-journalists-prison

Chicago Judge Stymies Trump Plans
to Withhold Money from Sanctuary Cities

{punchingbagpost.com} ~ President Trump has long promised to punish sanctuary cities by withholding federal funding... In July, AG Jeff Sessions announced three new conditions for cities looking to receive certain public-safety grants. The city of Chicago sued Sessions, claiming the new requirements were forcing Chicago to choose between losing a significant amount of money or implementing policy changes that would damage the fragile relationship between immigrants and local police. On Friday, a federal judge in Chicago ruled that Sessions does not have the authority to apply restrictions to federal grant eligibility. All is not lost for Sessions. In Leinenweber’s 41-page ruling, he noted that Sessions does have the authority to impose this condition on grant eligibility...  http://punchingbagpost.com/chicago-judge-stymies-trump-plans-to-withhold-money-from-sanctuary-cities

EMBARRASSING THE GUILTY
by Burt Prelutsky

It was the English writer Jessica Mitford who suggested that “While you may not be able to change the world, you can at least embarrass the guilty.”

I happen to subscribe to that belief. The problem is that there is so little time and so many who are guilty. The other problem is just how exactly do you go about embarrassing people like the liar-Clintons, the liar-nObamas, Chuck clown-Schumer, Nancy Pulosi, Mitch McConnell, RINO-Susan Collins, Paul Ryan and Maxine Waters, who have no shame.

The truth is, I have wondered for many years whether blackmail is a thing of the past. I mean, when celebrities go on TV and confess to being addicted to drugs, booze or sex, while the studio audience responds with prolonged applause, what is there left to conceal? In a day and age when people even boast of being homosexual, bi-sexual and something called transgendered, about the only thing people might still hope to conceal is that they happen to be white, God-fearing, heterosexual conservatives.

● You may have heard that Congress might not be able to get any legislation passed before 2018 rolls around, but it’s not just because there are so many factions in the House and Senate that the members can’t agree about anything. It’s also because the legislative bodies are so rarely in session. The reason for that is because the political careers of the members remain their priority. With the 2018 elections a scant 14 months away, they naturally have to start hitting up donors to refill their war chests as fast as humanly possible.

That means that men and women who are earning roughly $200,000-a-year will start hounding people who make far less than they do to donate to their campaigns. My question is why anyone in his right mind would contribute a plugged nickel to keep any of these yahoos gainfully employed.

I’m serious. Let’s say you owned a business and needed to hire replacements for a handful of employees who were retiring. Just how hard up would you have to be before you would even consider hiring any of those self-important palookas you see blathering away on the news shows to stock your shelves or answer your phones?

● Speaking of which, liar-Hillary Clinton has broken the news that she is done with being a political candidate. As breaking news goes, wouldn’t that be rather like Steven Seagal, Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone, letting the world know that they’re done with being a movie star?

Someone sent me a picture of Mrs. liar-Clinton’s book cover which he said answered the question posed on the top half on the bottom half. On top: “What Happened”; below: liar-Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Someone else sent me a picture of a two-book set. On the left was Mrs. liar-Clinton’s book. On the right is a book cover titled “I Happened,” accompanied by a photo of Donald Trump.

As liar-Hillary Clinton expands her own list of deplorables who cost her the election last November, it occurs to me that if there’s any truth to her claims, a lot of us owe some measure of gratitude to James Comey, Joe loose lips-Biden, Vladimir Putin, Bernie Sanders, John Podesta, Anthony Wiener, Matt Lauer and the Macedonians.

● Somebody pointed out that for eight years if he disagreed with the President, he was a racist. Now, if he happens to agree with the President, he’s a racist.

● Somebody else pointed out that whereas Robert Byrd, who had been a Grand Kleagle in the KKK, rose over the course of 50 years to be the majority leader of the Senate, and not a single Democrat uttered a word of condemnation. But, today, those same members of Congress are voicing their anger over statues.

Another pointed out that the same folks who bashed Trump for only donating a million dollars to Texas storm relief didn’t say boo when Barack liar-nObama handed $150 billion over to Iran.

But, then, the dunces who were outraged that Trump pardoned Sheriff Joe Arpaio weren’t even slightly miffed when liar-nObama released a couple of hundred Islamic jihadists from Gitmo.

● It was inevitable, I suppose, that someone would blame Donald Trump for the natural disasters known as Harvey, Irma and Jose, but it took Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence to say something as stupid as “It’s supernatural powers that have caused all these storms because of who we elected President” out loud.

As Benjamin Franklin observed, “We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain ignorant.”

Clearly, Ms. Lawrence has put in the hard work, and it shows.

But she still has a long way to go before she can provide real competition to Rep. Maxine Waters, who voiced genuine concern that “If North Korea nukes us, Trump is gonna get us into a war.”

● A question to which nobody seems able to provide a satisfactory answer is when affirmative action for black Americans will finally come to an end. Inasmuch as slavery was ended 150 years ago and Jim Crow laws were made null and void over 50 years ago, how much longer are those who played no part in either be expected to continue paying financial or emotional restitution to those who never experienced the whip or the insult?

I would love to hear a defense of Harvard’s admission policy which insists that all else being equal, an Asian-American must score 140 points higher on the SAT than a white student 270 points higher than a Hispanic student and a whopping 450 points higher than a black applicant in order to gain entry to the hallowed halls of the Ivy League.

But it’s not just blacks who enjoy a special protective status for no particular reason in society. James Damore raised a fire storm for merely suggesting that perhaps the reason that the Silicon Valley’s tech industry resembles the world’s largest frat house is that women simply aren’t that interested in pursuing careers that require taking math and computer science in college. He also bemoaned the fact that although he himself was a liberal, he felt that Google had become so authoritarian and was so exclusively liberal that it had become an echo chamber where a diversity of opinion wasn’t even tolerated.

Google proved his charges by firing him.

The irony is that whereas women earned 18% of the bachelor’s degrees in computer and information science, the percentage of women in tech jobs at Google is 20%. Still, when you consider that over 50% of college students are female, Damore was spot on when he suggested that perhaps women simply aren’t as interested in certain subjects as men, even though tech jobs pay a lot more than teaching school, nursing and social work.

You’d think that even liberals might be willing to grant that there are indeed differences between the sexes even if that’s counter to the current dogma that states that sex has nothing to do with biology and hard-wiring, but is totally optional and strictly a matter of opinion.

● When I recently devoted portions of a couple of articles to pointing out similarities between Donald Trump and Harry Truman, Charles Schmitz of St. Louis, let me know that his dad had been a big fan of President Truman, and went on to say he was confident that “Harry would be a Republican today.”

I replied that I, too, would like to think that Truman would be a Republican today. “But, alas,” I added, “I’d like to think the same thing of McConnell, Ryan, RINO-Collins, RINO-Murkowski and RINO-McCain."
