{dailycaller.com} ~ Former FBI General Counsel James Baker told Congress in “explosive” testimony about his interactions with a Mother Jones reporter... just after the 2016 election as well as a conversation he had last year with then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe regarding Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Baker recently told lawmakers that David Corn, a reporter at the liberal Mother Jones, provided him a copy of the Steele dossier a day after President Donald Trump’s election win, sources familiar with Baker’s testimony told The Daily Caller News Foundation. Baker, who resigned from office in May, also told lawmakers that McCabe and his general counsel, Lisa Page, told him in May 2017 that Rosenstein made remarks about wearing a wire during meetings with Trump. Baker’s testimony seems to bolster a Sept. 21 report from The New York Times that cited memos McCabe wrote just after a meeting with Rosenstein in May 2017, shortly after scumbag-James Comey was fired as FBI director. The Justice Department has disputed the story, saying that Rosenstein was making a joke in response to a request from McCabe to investigate Trump over his firing of scumbag-Comey. The report touched off intense speculation about Rosenstein’s job status. He reportedly offered to resign following the report, but the White House rejected the proposal...  https://dailycaller.com/2018/10/09/fbi-lawyer-congress-rosenstein/

{thehill.com} ~ U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Tuesday said that she not running for president in 2020 and will support President Trump's reelection... punctuating widespread speculation about her higher political ambitions following the announcement of her resignation on Tuesday. "No, I am not running in 2020," Haley told reporters during an Oval Office meeting with Trump Tuesday morning, during which the president accepted her resignation. “I look forward to supporting the president in the next election,” she added.News of Haley's decision to resign broke abruptly Tuesday  morning as the White House hastily announced a meeting between the president and his U.N. ambassador. Trump, sitting alongside Haley in the Oval Office, told reporters she plans to leave at the end of the year and wanted to “take a break” from public service. The president said Haley informed him of her intentions six months ago. Haley, a former governor of South Carolina, has been viewed as a steadying force in the administration given her mainstream Republican credentials and willingness to, at times, criticize the president...

{cnsnews.com} ~ House Minority Leader Nancy sick-Pulosi (D.-Calif.) says that she is filing a Freedom of Information Act request with the Federal Bureau of Investigation... to get the instructions it received from the White House on its investigation of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations against U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. sick-Pulosi says she is also requesting any communications from Senate Republicans to the FBI, the FBI’s report on the investigation and “transcripts of the underlying interviews.” Here is the full transcript of sick-Pelosi’s statement on the matter, which was released on Saturday: “Today is a profoundly heart-breaking day for women, girls and families across America. “Courageous women risked their safety and well-being to speak truth about this nomination. Tens of thousands more joined them to share their own harrowing stories of sexual assault, at great personal risk. Yet, Senate Republicans chose to send a clear message to all women: do not speak out, and if you do – do not expect to be heard, believed or respected... You are one sick person, sick-Pulosi is lying once again.  https://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/cnsnewscom-staff/pelosi-filing-foia-request-intructions-trump-wh-fbi-kavanaugh-ford

{defenddemocracy.org} ~ The Iranian parliament passed a bill this week that authorizes the country to join the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism (CFT)... one of several prerequisites for Iran’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) blacklist of states that engage in systemic money laundering and terror finance. FATF will be reviewing Iran's case next week. Inclusion on the blacklist, formally known as the “public statement,” results in intense financial pressure on the designated country and requires other countries to apply enhanced due diligence when considering financial transactions with it. FATF temporarily  suspended these countermeasures on Iran, pending its passage of reforms that would prevent future violations. In Iran’s parliament, or majles, opponents of the CFT accession bill feared it would prevent Iran from funding Hezbollah and Hamas, to which it provides an estimated $700 million and $100 million per year, respectively. Both opponents of the bill and foreign media reports failed to recognize that the bill carves out exemptions for the specific purpose of facilitating funds to support Hamas, Hezbollah, and other groups designated abroad as terrorist organizations. To that end, the bill excludes “struggles against colonial dominance and foreign occupation” from its definition of terrorism. The bill even acknowledges it will not fully comply with clause 1.b in Article 2 of the CFT, which prohibits any act “intended to cause death or serious bodily injury to a civilian, or to any other person not taking an active part in the hostilities in a situation of armed conflict.” The bill says Iran’s commitment to Article 2 “is limited” even if other parties are fully committed to it. FATF says Iran must criminalize terror financing, “including by removing the exemption for designated groups ‘attempting to end foreign occupation, colonialism and racism.’”...

{foxnews.com} ~ An arrest was made in the murder of Bulgarian television reporter Viktoria Marinova who had been reporting on alleged corruption linked to European Union funds... Bulgarian national radio reported Tuesday. Marinova, 30, was found dead in a park in Ruse, a town in the far north, along the border of Romania, according to Reuters. An unnamed suspect, only described as a “Romanian citizen with a passport from Moldova,” had been arrested in Marinova’s murder, according to the national radio report. Marinova had worked at the Ruse-based TV station TVN as a reporter. She had hosted a recently-launched program, interviewing investigative journalists about alleged corruption between businessman and politicians involving EU funds. Bulgarian prosecutors announced earlier they opened an investigation into the suspected misuse of European Union funds, following Marinova’s murder. The interior ministry said prosecutors were examining the GP Group, the company alleged to have misused EU money, and froze $16 million of its assets.  Bulgarian interior minister Mladen Marinov initially denied that Marinova’s murder was linked to her reporting, and said there was no evidence she had been threatened. A reporter from TVN told AFP, “We are in shock. In no way, under any form, never have we received any threats – aimed at her or the television.”...

Trump Sets the Record Straight on Justice Kavanaugh

by Thomas Gallatin:  Often official government ceremonies can feel rote and uninteresting due to their formality. However, Monday’s official swearing-in ceremony for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was palpably different. After the nation experienced one of the most contentious political battles surrounding the confirmation process of a SCOTUS nominee, the air was still thick with tension. And President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly demonstrated that he will not be bullied into silence, was not about to let the moment pass without setting the record straight.

In introducing the newest justice, Trump started by thanking all the Supreme Court justices for their service. He specifically recognized retired Justice Anthony Kennedy, stating, “Justice Kennedy, America owes you a profound debt of gratitude for a lifetime of noble service to our nation. And I want to thank you very much.
After thanking several others, including Antonin Scalia’s widow Maureen and White House Counsel Don McGahn, and then welcoming Kavanaugh’s family, Trump shifted to deliberately address the elephant in the room — the dummycrats-Democrat-orchestrated hit-jobagainst Kavanaugh. Trump declared:
I would like to begin tonight’s proceeding differently than perhaps any other event of such magnitude. On behalf of our nation, I want to apologize to Brett and the entire Kavanaugh family for the terrible pain and suffering you have been forced to endure.
Those who step forward to serve our country deserve a fair and dignified evaluation, not a campaign of political and personal destruction based on lies and deception. What happened to the Kavanaugh family violates every notion of fairness, decency, and due process.
]               In our country, a man or woman must always be presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. And with that, I must state that you, sir, under historic scrutiny, were proven innocent.
Margaret and Liza, your father is a great man. He is a man of decency, character, kindness, and courage who has devoted his life to serving his fellow citizens. And now from the bench of our nation’s highest court, your father will defend the eternal rights and freedoms of all Americans.
Trump also acknowledged the Republican senators who worked to confirm Kavanaugh, specifically highlighting the leadership of Mitch McConnell (KY), Chuck Grassley (IA) and all the Republicans of the Judiciary Committee, as well as Susan Collins (R-ME) “for her brave and eloquent speech.
After taking the Judicial Oath, Kavanaugh spoke of his gratitude for all those who have influenced and impacted him throughout his life. Near the end of his comments, he acknowledged that “the Senate confirmation process was contentious and emotional,” but he noted that “although the Senate confirmation process tested me, as it has tested others, it did not change me.” He pledged, “My approach to judging remains the same. A good judge must be an umpire, a neutral and impartial decider who favors no litigant or policy. A judge must be independent and must interpret the law, not make the law. A judge must interpret statutes as written. And a judge must interpret the Constitution as written, informed by history and tradition and precedent.” He then concluded, “As a Justice on the Supreme Court, I will always strive to preserve the Constitution of the United States and the American Rule of Law.”
