The Return of the Tea-Party-is-Racist Smear

{ americanthinker.com } ~ Our friends at the New York Times did a retrospective piece August 28, 2019 on the tenth anniversary of the Tea Party that emerged in 2009 after the election of Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, the nation’s First Black President... But, according to Tyler O’Neil, the NYT got into trouble because the article did not accuse the Tea Party of racism. So, in due course, Times amended the article to add a retrospective accusation of racism as demanded by the critics. When the Tea Party emerged in the spring of 2009 it represented itself as a political movement in the grand old tradition of American politics, like the folks that staged the Boston Tea Party of 1773. The simplest way of describing the Tea Party’s birth, from the perspective of the post-2016 world, would be that it represented a #Resistance against the results of the presidential election of 2008. Just as lefty Americans were devastated by the Trump ascendancy of 2016 and were moved to protest it, the Tea Partiers felt that the sharp left turn of 2008 represented a threat to their kind of America. May we be permitted to suggest to our liberal friends, ever so gently, that the good-fellowship and tricorn hats of the Tea Party were rather less “divisive” than the threats and “mostly peaceful protests” of the #Resistance and its iconic AntiFa protesters and feminist pussy-hatters. The accusation of racism against the Tea Party started early, as I recall. I felt at the time that the accusation was, as the postmodernists say, “overdetermined.” If you believe that any political speech that opposes the liberal Narrative is racist, and if you think that white middle class Americans are crypto-racists, and if you think that anyone that opposes any black elected official is racist, and if you think that the white working class are all Archie Bunkers, well, of course you think that the Tea Party was racist. Racist, racist, racist. My most vivid recollection of the great Tea Party’s Taxpayer March on Washington on the National Mall on September 12, 2009 was the white Tea Partiers being overjoyed to meet and greet the few black Americans that turned up at the event. It was even a bit embarrassing to see how pathetically glad they were to see African-Americans joining their parade...

{ news.usni.org } ~ The Navy’s new surface development squadron will soon receive its first unmanned vehicle to begin experimenting with, as the service looks to incorporate new types of manned and unmanned platforms into how it fights at sea... The San Diego-based Surface Development Squadron 1 is in the process of taking administrative and operational controls of the unmanned ship Sea Hunter by Oct. 1, Capt. Henry Adams, commodore of SURFDEVRON 1, told a Surface Navy Association West Symposium audience. “We are five and a half weeks out of pulling the switch and the Navy formally assuming custody,” Adams said, during a panel at the SNA West symposium, held pierside at Naval Base San Diego on Aug. 22. Sea Hunter was developed by the Office of Naval Research and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and will be transferred to the fleet for experimentation. “There’s already a lot of interest in renting Sea Hunter by a variety of organizations to go support their underway operations, to include training,” Adams said. “The value there is beginning to expose the fleet to … an unmanned system, so our sailors get comfortable and competent and confident operating around unmanned systems, because they’re coming.” Adams took command of SURDEVRON — formerly the DDG-1000 only Zumwalt Squadron — on May 22 with the missions of integrating new manned and unmanned surface ships and supporting fleet experiments. SURFDEVRON is responsible for the maintenance, training and manning oversight for medium and large unmanned surface vessels (USVs) – currently limited to Sea Hunter – as well as the three-ship Zumwalt class that will include USS Zumwalt (DDG-1000), USS Michael Monsoor (DDG-1001) and the future Lyndon B. Johnson (DDG-1002). The first four Littoral Combat Ships, which currently serve to test mission package equipment before fielding, will likely join the SURFDEVRON down the road...

A Former Russian Anti-U.S. Propagandist

{ dailycaller.com } ~ The taxpayer-funded Voice of America (VOA) currently employs a reporter for its Russian website who formerly produced anti-U.S. propaganda videos for a Russian outlet... Ilya Kolosov is a “contractor with the VOA Russian language service TV team,” Bridget Serchak, Director of Public Relations at VOA, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. He was previously employed at ONT, a Belorussian state-run TV station and RTVI, a Russian station, according to a report by Belsat.VOA is a U.S. government-funded and state-owned news agency, reaching more than 275 million people around the world every week. VOA is part of the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which is a government agency overseeing all U.S. international broadcasting. Kolosov produced Russian propaganda videos with anti-US and anti-Semitic themes before being hired by VOA. One of the YouTube videos, produced in Russian, alleges that the U.S. has developed the dollar as the main international currency in an attempt to get rich at the expense of other countries. The U.S. currency “unfairly took the world on,” the video says, according to Belsat. The video was uploaded to YouTube by Pravoved TV, a Russian station. The production includes a caricature of a Jewish person and has anti-Semitic references. The video asserts President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated because of his contact with U.S. bankers...

US airstrike takes out al-Qaida leaders in Syria

{ patriotnewsalerts.com } ~ U.S. forces reportedly launched an airstrike on suspected al-Qaida terrorist leaders in the Syrian province of Idlib on Saturday... Forty jihadist leaders were killed by the strike, according to a battlefield monitor, Military.com reported. The aircraft-launched missile strike was confirmed in a brief statement from U.S. Central Command, which noted that the strike had been aimed at a facility north of Idlib. The facility is believed to have been used by Al-Qaeda leaders in Syria. “This operation targeted AQ-S leaders responsible for attacks threatening U.S. citizens, our partners, and innocent civilians. Additionally, the removal of this facility will further degrade their ability to conduct future attacks and destabilize the region,” said Lt. Col. Earl Brown, chief of media operations for CENTCOM. “Northwest Syria remains a safe haven where AQ-S leaders actively coordinate terrorist activities throughout the region and in the West. With our allies and partners, we will continue to target violent extremists to prevent them from using Syria as a safe haven,” the CENTCOM spokesman added. There is reportedly a tenuous cease-fire at the moment in northwestern Syria where the brutal years-long civil war between Bashar al-Assad’s government and anti-Assad opposition forces continues to this day. While the strike on al-Qaida terrorists should be welcome news to all, the Russian government, which backs Assad, appears to be a bit peeved at reportedly being left out of the loop with regard to the strike. Russian media outlet RT reported that the Russian Defense Ministry said it was concerned that the airstrike could endanger the tenuous truce and provoke future attacks on Syrian and Russian forces by the opposition forces. Some of the rebels are allied with U.S. interests, but others are jihadist-orientated and hold no allegiance to any nation-state or international body outside of their own version of Islamic faith...

The National Popular Vote Con Job

{ spectator.org } ~ The latest attempt by the Democrats to avoid the exigencies of the Electoral College is the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC)... They have been selling this scheme as a conservative compromise between progressives who would abolish the “obsolete” institution outright and reactionaries who wish to preserve an “inequitable and racist” provision of the Constitution. In reality, NPVIC is just another effort to endow the heavily populated, Democrat-dominated regions of the country with even more political power than they already wield. Fortunately, it is doomed to failure. If you haven’t read the official NPVIC pitch, here’s what it would accomplish, according to its official website: The National Popular Vote interstate compact would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The bill ensures that every vote, in every state, will matter in every presidential election. The bill is a constitutionally conservative, state-based approach that preserves the Electoral College, state control of elections, and the power of the states to control how the President is elected.
How would NPVIC achieve this miracle? There would be a formal agreement among various states controlling 270 or more presidential electors who would be required to cast their ballots for any candidate receiving the most popular votes across the country — even if some other candidate wins a majority in any of the signatory states. A brief perusal of the current signatories to this compact will render its true objective all too clear. Thus far, 15 states and the District of Columbia have joined the movement, and all are owned and operated by the Democratic Party. Among them, they control 196 electors, and they boast that NPVIC “will take effect when enacted by states controlling 74 more electoral votes.” Here is the current list of NPVIC signatory states and the number of electors they control: California (55), New York (29), Illinois (20), New Jersey (14), Washington (12), Massachusetts (11), Maryland (10), Colorado (9), Oregon (7), Connecticut (7), New Mexico (5), Rhode Island (4), Hawaii (4), Delaware (3), Vermont (3), and the District of Columbia (3). There are seven additional states in which at least one legislative chamber has thus far approved the measure and another in which both houses of the legislature have approved it. If they pass the measure, the NPVIC states will claim the right to choose the president. This claim will conflict with at least two constitutional provisions, including the 12th Amendment, which states: The Electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President … and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate — The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all certificates and the votes shall then be counted … the person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President if such number be a majority of the whole number of electors appointed...

Democrats Embrace Politicized 'John Doe' InvestigationsHarold Hutchison: “John Doe” is not exactly a memorable name — indeed, it is often used for someone that can’t be identified in one context or another. But that name is something that Americans need to be aware of, especially as it applies to the state of Wisconsin, where it stands for an abuse of power that may have affected at least one state-wide election.
In 2015, our Arnold Ahlert reported on the “John Doe” investigations into conservative activists in the state of Wisconsin. While they were eventually shut down by the state supreme court, the abusers — including the district attorney in Milwaukee — got off scot-free. In essence, they got away with using a phony criminal investigation to punish political opponents.
Scott Walker would lose a bid for a third term by a very narrow margin in the 2018 election. We will never know for sure, but there is a chance that the lack of punishment, and the abuses that went on in the name of the “John Doe” law did suppress conservative activism and grassroots support for Walker just enough to swing that race.
That is not the only abuse of people who have exercised their first Amendment rights to oppose left-wing policy goals. New York has been very active on this front, with Andrew Cuomo targeting both the National Rifle Association and opponents of his environmental agenda. The abuses are so blatant that the ACLU sided with the National Rifle Association in its litigation (which is proving to be very expensive). Even if the internally fractured NRA should prevail, the fight is drawing funds way from legislative and political activities.
Again, look at close races like Walker’s in Wisconsin, the McSally-Sinema Senate race in Arizona, or a number of seats in the House of Representatives that went to the Democrats. Could an NRA not fighting abuses from the scumbag-Andrew Cuomo-Letitia James regime have swung those elections the other way? It may never be known for sure, but we have our suspicions.
The scary thing is that more Democrats are adopting these tactics. Elizabeth dinky-Warren is promising to sic the IRS on the NRA. In essence, an army of liar-Lois Lerners could be unleashed on Americans who dissent from her politics as early as Day One of a dinky-Warren presidency, and with the full approval of President dinky-Warren in the name of “accountability.”
But it won’t just be the NRA that gets targeted — just look at the actions of Representative Joaquin Castro, whose brother is running for president. He doxed Trump donors in his district.
Of course, imagine if the roles were reversed. If the governor of Texas was targeting Bloomberg’s gun-control groups, or if the state of Florida tried to pressure banks into dropping Planned Parenthood as a customer, do you think the media would be silent? There’s a better chance People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals will endorse veal farms.
Here’s how bad the bias is: A number of media outlets are giving Stacey Abrams, the loser of the 2018 gubernatorial election in Georgia, a platform to outline her agenda for “reform.” None have challenged her claims on air. The media also covered when Federal Election Commission Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub bashed President Donald Trump’s claims of voter fraud.
But Weintraub has been silent about the fact that for almost 10 months now, Abrams has made charges, without evidence, of voter suppression in the election she lost. The media has been silent about Weintraub’s double standard. As The Patriot Post team noted when discussing Robert Mueller and Spygate, America cannot survive double standards, much less the imposition of a two-tiered justice system. ~The Patriot Post
