NASA’s Insight Mars Lander arrives on the
Red Planet, ends successful journey
by James Rogers and Chris Ciaccia
{foxnews.com} ~ NASA’s announced that its Mars InSight lander landed successfully on the surface of the Red Planet... ending a journey that lasted six months and more than 300 million miles. The InSight lander entered Mars' atmosphere just shortly after 2:40 p.m. EST on Monday and touched the surface at approximately 2:54 p.m. EST. The last part of the journey was the most harrowing, with NASA calling it "seven minutes of terror" due to the agency's inability to control the landing of the spacecraft, which cost $828 million. Scientists determined that no additional changes were needed to the algorithm that will guide the spacecraft to the Martian surface. As the InSight lander descended, it was hit with extreme temperatures, speeds and forces. In an attempt to prevent any damage to the craft, NASA chose a "vanilla ice cream" landing site, the Elysium Planitia, which is flat and featureless. "We can't joystick the landing, so we have to rely on the commands we pre-program into the spacecraft. We've spent years testing our plans, learning from other Mars landings and studying all the conditions Mars can throw at us,” said Rob Grover, InSight's entry, descent and landing (EDL) lead, based at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, in a recent statement. And we're going to stay vigilant till InSight settles into its home in the Elysium Planitia region." On Sunday, NASA engineers successfully tweaked the probe’s trajectory, steering the spacecraft within a few miles of its targeted entry point over the Red Planet...

Canada's Treacherous "Faustian Bargain"
by Salim Mansur
{gatestoneinstitute.org} ~ The Canadian government's recent announcement that it will be providing more than CDN $600 million (USD $455 million) over the next five years... to bail out the country's financially strapped media outlets -- as part of the fall fiscal update about the federal budget ahead of the 2019 federal election -- is not as innocent as it may seem. In response to the announcement, the heads of Canada's media organizations promptly popped open the proverbial champagne and raised their glasses to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Unifor, a national union that represents Canadian journalists, was even more jubilant. It felt vindicated that its slogan of "Resistance" -- which it touts as Conservative Party opposition leader Andrew Scheer's "worst nightmare" -- had so swiftly resulted in opening the government's wallet, and handing out taxpayers' money, to an industry that should actually be fighting to remain steadfastly independent of any form of government backing. This is what a "free press" is presumably all about, after all; not as in countries with totalitarian regimes, such as the once-Czarist Russia-turned communist Soviet Union-turned Putinist Russia, or Maoist China, or the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, or the Islamic Republic of Iran, or Castroist Cuba and many third-world states in which the press is simply a propaganda tool of the government, subjected to the dictates and whim of its leader. The recipients of Trudeau's "gift" will argue that their editorial independence could not possibly be hindered -- heaven forfend! -- in such a liberal democracy as Canada. Their irreproachable backs will go up at the mere suggestion that their journalistic integrity might be compromised by entering into a financial deal with the powers-that-be...

CAIR Official Calls for Israel's Termination
{investigativeproject.org} ~ Hussam Ayloush, a senior Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) official, in a tweet on Sunday called for the Jewish state to be "terminated."... "Iran's regime calling Israel a 'cancerous tumor' is like the pot calling the kettle black. All the people of that region will be better off once both murderous regimes are terminated," Ayloush wrote. Based on this tweet, one might assume Ayloush has an equal disdain for the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel. However, whereas Ayloush would like to see regime change in Iran, he has a history of describing Israel in ways that echo Iranian rhetoric calling for its destruction. He has referred to Israelis as "zionazis" and repeatedly equated the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) with ISIS terrorists. "You know how many hundreds of Jewish American kids are recruited to join the Israeli occupation army? Hundreds. Every year. They leave their country, leave America, to go join with an army that is engaged, with no debate, in major violations of human rights, and maybe some would argue, and I'm one of them, war crimes," Ayloush said in May, adding that "no one has ever established a CVE program to see, why would normal Jewish American kids leave their home and join to be part of an army committing war crimes."...  https://www.investigativeproject.org/7716/cair-official-calls-for-i...

Limbaugh warns: 'I don't think
you have any idea what's coming'
by JOE KOVACS
{wnd.com} ~ “I don’t think you have any idea what’s coming.” That’s the warning issued Monday by talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh, as he foresees an intensified threat to President Trump and his administration... the moment Democrats officially take control of the U.S. House in January. “I don’t think you have the slightest idea what’s coming next January and on after that, after the Democrat Congress is sworn in, the Democrat House, I don’t think anybody has any idea,” Limbaugh said. While Limbaugh is expecting a variety of investigations of Trump, he says what’s disturbing is that members of the president’s own party will hop on board in a calculated effort to oust him. “I’m just warning you that there are more Republicans than you know that are gonna eagerly join Democrat efforts. There’s all kinds of Republicans on every one of these committees,” he explained. “You’re gonna find a whole lot of Republicans signing on to what the Democrats do, because most of the people in that town despise Trump, despise the fact that he won, have not been able to get over it, have not been able to accept the election results of 2016. They’re waiting with bated breath on the dirty cop-Mueller report. They can’t wait. They’re so excited.”...  https://www.wnd.com/2018/11/limbaugh-warns-i-dont-think-you-have-an...

Media Ignored It When scumbag/liar-nObama
Pepper Sprayed Illegals Trying to Break Border
by WARNER TODD HUSTON
{godfatherpolitics.com} ~ The same liberal media losing its tiny hive mind over the use of pepper spray and tear gas on the southern border last weekend completely ignored... it when scumbag/liar-nObama did the same thing five years ago. The media has spent the last three days showing images of frightened women and children running around as if they are frightened stiff over the evil actions of the U.S. Border Patrol. And left-wing “reporters” and commentators have been incensed that Trump is “using chemical weapons” against” women and children” on the border. But with all this high dudgeon flying around, one thing has become clear; the same pundits and purported “reporters” never said a word when scumbag/liar-nObama did the exact same thing five years ago...  https://godfatherpolitics.com/media-ignored-it-when-obama-pepper-sp...

What to Make of the Latest Dire Climate Report
by Nate Jackson:  “People are going to die if we don’t start addressing climate change ASAP.” So said socialism’s brightest new star, commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. But so also said climate scientists Friday in releasing the Fourth National Climate Assessment — the first such report since 2014.

According to The Washington Times, “As many as 9,300 more people could die each year because of extreme heat or cold related to climate change by the end of this century. … The range of disease-spreading mosquitoes and ticks will expand, as will extreme weather events — all of which will bring additional mental health problems such as depression and even suicidal tendencies, the U.S. Global Change Research Program, made up of 13 federal agencies, said in the ‘Fourth National Climate Assessment.’”
The Washington Post adds, “The report finds that the continental United States already is 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than it was 100 years ago, surrounded by seas that are on average nine inches higher and being racked by far worse heat waves than the nation experienced only 50 years ago.”
The assessment concluded that it’s all man-made: “Both human and natural factors influence Earth’s climate, but the long-term global warming trend observed over the past century can only be explained by the effect that human activities have had on the climate.” And the report came with the requisite warnings that the poor and minorities will be hardest hit.
Specific policy recommendations are not included in the report, though it took a New York second for climate alarmists to renew their calls for draconian regulations to combat the problem. Given the massive expense of such regulation, it struck us that a repeated theme in the new report is how expensive inaction would be. Lost productivity, coastal property damage, and more deaths would indeed be expensive — if predictions are accurate. And the emphasis on human activities as the cause leads to the logical conclusion that human activities must be restricted if we are to slow the trend. We know how expensive that will be, not just in terms of the economy but of Liberty.
Meanwhile, there’s an inconvenient truth: The U.S. is leading the world in reducing carbon emissions while President Donald Trump eases regulations, exits the Paris Agreement, and encourages fossil-fuel development.
Speaking of Trump, he quipped last week, “Brutal and extended cold blast could shatter all records — whatever happened to global warming?” He’s joking, of course, because climate alarmists routinely point to weather events to prove that they’re correct, even while lecturing “deniers” who dare to make those obvious jokes.
Exhibit A: One climate researcher pointing to the deadly California wildfire and saying, “Looking at the smoke, I could not help but think: ‘This is climate change. This is what climate change looks like.’” No, it’s what irresponsible environmental policies look like. Whether more policies designed by the same extreme leftists can reduce earth’s temperature in the future is the open question, isn’t it?

Joe Biden On Violence Against Women:   We Have To Keep ‘Punching At It, And Punching At It, And Punching At It’

The audience laughed as he said this.

Former Vice President Joe Biden said that America needs to be “punching” back to combat violence against women during Wednesday’s Democratic debate.

Biden was asked if he would tackle specific issues regarding the #MeToo movement at the beginning of his presidency, if he were to be elected. The former vice president previously sponsored the 1994 Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which aimed to protect victims of domestic violence.

The presidential candidate responded to the question about assaulting women by using the phrase “punching” repeatedly, apparently not thinking about the implications of using such a word.

“No man has a right to raise a hand to a woman in anger other than in self-defense, and that rarely ever occurs,” Biden said. “So we have to just change the culture, period, and keep punching at it and punching at it and punching at it. No, I really mean it.”

A few people laughed in the audience as he said this.

Biden added that it is important to pass the Violence Against Women Act, which has passed in the House and held up in the Senate. The former Vice President also suggested that America has to “fundamentally change the culture” of how women are treated, noting that it is “everyone’s responsibility.”

“It’s a gigantic issue, and we have to make it clear from the top, from the president on down that we will not tolerate it,” Biden said. “We will not tolerate this culture.”
